3 Beauty Products I’m Trying To Use Up

I love beauty products! One of my favorite hobbies is buying, trying, and experimenting with different products. When I find a way to incorporate a new product into one of my routines; I feel accomplished. However, over the past couple of years, I’ve become more mindful of hoarding so many products. Usually, when I can’t make a product work for my skin, I find a friend or family member that might enjoy them. However, there are some products that I don’t necessarily “hoard”, but just don’t use that much.

3 Beauty Products I'm Trying to Use Up

There are numerous reasons why I’ve been mindful of having too many products without using them. Maybe I do use them, but only use them during certain temperatures. However, the main reason I don’t use them is because they just don’t work as well as I would like. So, I recently started to make an effort to use some of these products up, because my skin doesn’t hate them. They just could’ve been a little better.

Keep reading to see the three latest beauty products I’ve been trying to use up and why. You might’ve seen a couple of them on here before.

The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser | STAINED COUTURE

A couple of months ago, I became obsessed with face cleansers. Seriously, it felt like I was buying a new cleanser every other day. I bought so many different face washes, balms, and oils, but they each served a purpose. One of the cleansers that I bought was The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, which is the first cleanser they offered. Since I’ve loved a few of The Ordinary’s serums, I was excited to try this. Plus, it has squalane, which is moisturizing for your skin.

Yet, after giving a try a few days in a row, I just didn’t like the texture of this cleanser on my skin. In order to use this cleanser, you squeeze some in your palm and rub it in your hands for 10-30 seconds, which turns into a oily balm. The balm texture helps to loosen and remove your makeup. When it comes to removing make-up, I find cleansing oils and balms more effective. Unfortunately, I this balm felt way too heavy on my skin and it doesn’t rinse off as easy.

In order to use this cleanser up, I use it whenever I wear make-up. It’s a good cleanser to use to double cleanse on days when you wear make-up, if that’s something that interests you.

Ole Henriksen Glow2Oh

A few months ago, I was obsessed with trying Ole Henriksen Glow2Oh toner, because it’s supposed to help lighten dark spots on your skin. When I first started using this toner, I loved it! After using it for a few weeks, I noticed that my skin was brighter and my hyperpigmentation was lighter.

However, I eventually noticed that my dark spots weren’t getting any lighter. In hindsight, I know that I would need a good chemical peel to really make noticeable difference. Although I bought this toner to help with hyperpigmentation, it also helped improve my skin’s texture. The high concentrations of lactic and glycolic acids helped make my skin smoother. I have other acid toners for this purpose, but I’m using this toner up before I go back to my beloved Mario Badescu toner.

However, if you have slight pigmentation and/or dark spots, this might work better for you than someone like me with intense dark spots.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

Smashbox primers have been my current favs. A few months ago, I started using Smashbox’s Photo Finish primer after years of forgetting about it. However, it’s a really good everyday primer for normal/ combination skin, which is my skin type most of the year. However, now that the weather is rapidly warming up, I realize that it doesn’t hold my foundation as long as it used to now that my skin is oilier and it’s 90+ degrees outside.

I recently decided to switch to Smashbox’s Photo Finish Pore Minimizing primer, which is a little thicker and blurs skin imperfections better. Although I only have a little left of the original PF primer, I want to use it up instead of letting it expire. So, I use this primer on the areas of my skin that don’t get as oily, such as my on my jawline and to prime my brow area. I should be done with this primer by the of this week. Progress!
