Closet Essential!

Every fashion fiend needs a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor in their closet, preferably in a basic color like reb, blue, black, or white. They are like white tees, they never seem to go out of style! Another plus is that no matter where you live, you can probably find a store that carries Chucks! If not you can always visit Converse's website to purchase the basics or those hard to find limited editions and designs.

Moment of Silence alert!
I am so upset to hear about the recent annoucement of Kimora Lee and Russell Simmons. I am a huge fan of both and although rumors of a split have been circulating for awhile, I was hoping that it was just that, Rumors! Unfortunately they are not and you can read more about it here.
Happier Moments!

And as it does not affect the Baby Phat collections,I think I will survive.

Investment Piece!
If there is one fashion investment you should make in life, it is a good and classic watch. A watch is a statement piece that tells people what type of person you are. The right watch can portray an image of success. Here are a few watches for women that you can purchase at your local Macy's or other online stores such as Overstock.com:
Bulova $499
Seiko $165
Fossil $95
Fossil $85

You do not have to spend hundreds of dollars for a good watch. You can find one for around $100 and still portray the image of woman with goals, ambitious, and success.

A good man is not the only hard thing to find!
I am in dire need of a good tailor! My tailor here in Memphis is moving to Chicago and that is one hell of a commute to get my pants properly fitted. I think every woman and man needs to have a good tailor and seamstress in their address book. In today's world of proportions and sizes, its hard to find a piece of clothing that fits you like a second skin and that is were a tailor is needed. My dad is the one who got me to invest in a tailor. He gets all his dress shirts custom made. He's one of those guys that loves a well made suit. I appreciate that about him.

A good seamtress fits in when you want a certain type of shirt or skirt, but you're having a hard time finding the exactly shape or look. A seamstress can get this done for you and you can also be positive that you will not see anyone else with that exact piece.

So when you have the time, browse around your yellow pages or word of mouth and look for a local tailor. I found my tailor via word of mouth, but I think I will let my fingers do the walking for my next tailor.

Shoe Sale Alert!
Sound the horns and alert your friends, JC Penney is having a great shoe sale online and at their stores! I went to a local JC Penney yesterday, and even though I shouldn't have I had to buy a pair. Say hello to my new shoes:
Only $39.99

I needed a pair of white wedge sandals anyway. I will make up for it later. Anyway, here go a couple of pair that were calling my name, but the ones I bought called my name a little louder.

$34.99
$29.99
You should check them out! Moving On!

Sometimes you can find the best bargains and deals if you just look around certain stores. My friend and I were casually searching around Macy's yesterday and we ran across this beautiful leather Fossil handbag in turquoise that was big enough for her to double it as a tote for work. It was only $65 considering that the original price was $125. As all handbags fiends know, Fossil makes great, durable, and high quality handbags. This just proves that it does not hurt to look around a store or section, because you never know the jewels that you could find.

House of Dereon
For the past couple of years we have been hearing that Beyonce and her mom were in the process of releasing a clothing line. I admit that when I first heard about this I was a little apprehensive and not positive about the look of the line. Well, over the past few months the House of Dereon has been releasing new items here there. Recently they have released jeans, pants, tops, jackets and shoes.
The pieces are a little pricey, but the materials and fits that they offer make up for the prices. While I was browsing their website I was very happy to see models that were not too skinny to get the overall feel and shape of the clothing.
Here are a few items in the House of Dereon line that stood out to me:
$98
$108
$180
$130
$150.
These are just a few items from the line, but feel free to hop over to the House of Dereon to see more of their line. I think you might be impressed, because I definitely am. I just wish I could afford a pair of those shoes!

Where's the "health" ?!
I am sure you have noticed the health part of the banner and I am sure you have noticed the no health related posts. Well, the reason is because of me!

A little over a month ago I was on a good track to a healthier lifestyle. I was hopping on the treadmill more often, drinking more water, and even saying no to my beloved Coca-Cola products. Then my plan hit an iceburg called "The Flu". I was sick for almost two weeks and during that I did not exercise and drank all the Coke and Sprite I could get my hands on. After I got over my flu I did not immediately go back to my healthy lifestyle. Since my "friend" Mother Nature as decided to release the good weather I need to go back to losing weight and toning up.

I used the internet to help in my goals of health and decided that I would occasionally post about my finds. So here is the first site that I think is very simple and informative about losing weight. Bookmark and read later because it is very long but so worth it to understand the "mathematics of losing weight.

Post for the "Bag Ladies" :

My momma ordered this for me and I am so in love! It is a laptop bag that has room for not only your laptop but a section for your PDA and ID and credit cards. The inside has a nice feel and elegant look. I love walking down the street caring something that other people want and just have to stop and ask me were I got it from. When I am toting this people can't tell how crappy my laptop is looking lately.
Here's a secret: For a month, I will tell people it was a gift and I do not know where its from. That way I can enjoy it without having to see everybody and their mama with one.

Since I love my readers and want them to be as stylish as possible, even at work here is the place to browse. They have a spring sale going on so enjoy your day!

She better not think that this hot!
*EDIT* Temp Layout while I get an idea for a new design. Understand that I threw this together in 20 minutes! Bare with me!

Can someone please tell me the purpose of these gloves. I have never seen them on someone and go "Those are hot!" or "I want those!". They seem to have no purpose at all to me. Plus, lets be real, Ms. Remy Ma is not the most fashionable person on the world either. Everytime she wears something it knocks a little bit of the "hotness" out of it, if it had any at all in the first place.

That's it for now. I am not a big fan of writing about fashion negatives, but approach this post as fashion PSA.

I'm recovering and so is my hair!
Well, a new day and I have gotten over the horribleness, if that is a word, and decided to move on. While I was buying my Healthy Ends at Walgreens Friday, I saw this a decided to give it a try. I must say that I am now I fan of this product. I learned over at "mecca" that Pink Oil products, especially the moisturizer, is not that good for your hair so I haven't used that crap in over a year and my hair is so much better since.

great alternative

Although I have only used it for only two days, I am very much impressed. It is not greasy and the smell is so incredible! It is worth the space in my "beauty basket" that is in my bathroom.

Covergirl's "The Queen Collection"
Well, since my Tigers are down by 8 I need a break before I have a stress induced stroke. So, here is my review of the new powder foundation from The Queen Collection:

I am not a big fan of powder foundation because it always makes my skin feel dry, no matter how much moisturizer I put on, but anyway. The foundation did blend well with my complexion and stayed on most of the day. Unfortunately, the when it started to fade it made my face look super dry and that is not a good thing. The makeup did not look fresh for that long, which is slightly disappointed considering in was not hot so I was not sweating. In conclusion, the powder foundation was not that good for me, but it does blend well and since is catered toward women of color that is a plus. I think that you should try on your own and get your personal oppinion. I will still give the eyeshadows and blushes a chance, but for now I will stick with my Clinique.
Now back to my stroke. Well, looky here, we are only down by seven now! I need to put 911 on speed dial.

Gotta Love It!
There is nothing like shopping first thing on a Saturday morning! I love it because not that many people are there so all the parking in the world, not having to deal with picked clothes, and most importantly, no fighting over the perfect summer dress with only one of your size left. Anyway, I found a cute couple of shirts. Personally, I prefer to have more tops than bottoms in my closet, because you can dress up or down an outfit with the top and the accessories.

Here goes my obsession of the day!

I got these shoesyesterday and I am so in love! They are prettier in person. They are little high in height, but still look great in my closet.

Good Morning!
Sorry for no update yesterday. Work is finally catching up with me! I was exhausted yesterday and having to deal with a furniture delivery problem took all my energy away to post.

I am having hair issues so I have been "studying" over at mecca, as StickyKeys called it! Thanks to SistaSlick & Co. over there, I think I have come up with a regime to follow that will end my hair issues.

I have not forgot about my review of The Queens collection. I did purchase the closest shade for me I could find. I will wear it today while I go shopping and give my complete oppinion, before tonight's Memphis Tigers v. UCLA game. I saw some of the eyeshadows and blushes that are part of the collection. They were all too dark for me for this time of the year, but still were nice colors. That's it for now!

Beauty post:
Well, more than likely this will be my last post for the night, because my beloved Memphis Tigers are playing tonight and all my nerves will be too shot to be posting about make-up or fashions. Therefore, I am posting about the new Covergirl collection entitled "The Queen Collection" by Queen Latifah.

It is so hard for some women of color to find inexpensive make-up that is aimed toward them. I decided to give Covergirl's The Queen Collection a chance. Tommorow I will give my beloved Clinique foundation a break and when I am downtown I will stop by Walgreens and purchase some of the foundation along with some Healthy Ends and carrot cream for my ends. I will give my evaluation when I get home from work.

For more information check out Covergirl's website to see all the products that they offer in the line. Support our Queens!

F.C.O.M (Fab Chick of the Moment)

Zoe Saldana!
I know that I might be a little bit late with this, but lately I have noticed her more. She has even caught the eye of Mr. S. Carter a.k.a Jay-Z. He has tapped her the new face for the ladies line of his RocaWear collection. She is definitley getting her name and style out there.

Speaking of Rocawear, I need to look at the new line and see what they have cooking. I have been slightly disappointeed in the past because they tend to look over the details of clothes that fit women well. That's it for now!

Shoe post!
Well, good old mother nature has pulled yet another prank on me! The first was when she let it snow here in Memphis when just two days beforehand it was damn near 80 degress outside. That was over a month ago. This time it is the temperature. Last week we had such beautiful days that would make you just want to sit outside all day and read a good book. That made me to believe that spring was down the street and about to turn the corner, but boy was I wrong. This morning it was 29 degrees when I woke up this morning. I had to take a second look at the calendar when the weather man said that. The good news it that I still have time to find some more shoes. I decided to look around Nordstrom.com and here go a couple of shoes that stood out to me.

These were a few that stood out to me because they would be perfect for work and just strutting around the city.

Thank god for "Healthy Ends"

This is the best product I have ever used. My friends over at the best forum for african-american hair care have taught me so much about maintaining and growing healthy hair. One thing that I learned and embraced was to just say no to Pink Oil products. Then I had to find a new product to use and read in the forum about this healthy ends product and I have been in love ever since.

I suggest that if you need hair suggestions, tips, tricks, or just to chat with wonderful and friendly people then strut over to the wonderful world of Black Beauty, Black hair forum.
