I will admit it...

I love Kimora Lee Simmons! I think that she is a fierce bitch and, most importantly, an incredible business woman. To see the way she has transformed the Baby Phat fashion line into one of the most profitable lines on the market makes me want to shed a tear, but not on my Baby Phat blouse.

You also have to admit that the campaigns she releases every season are too cute and/or hot. Can you really ever get enough of those little fashionista in training Simmons girls, including Vanessa and Angela from Run's House? I think not!

Anyway, Mrs. Lee Simmons, for now, allowed the wonderful peeps over at OK! mag to follow her behind the scenes of her shooting her Fall '06 campaign along the streets of New York. Once again, it looks to be another good collection! I going to need that bag ASAP, because I have been looking for a bag like that that won't break the clutch on my wallet.

You know that it is almost impossible to see Kimora without some big, luxurious, and fab jewels in her possession. Those earrings are hot and if those are sapphires, she might as well throw them in that bag for me. Sapphires are my birthstone! Hiya, all you september sweeties! BTW, I totally agree that a little lip gloss goes a long way! Dry looking lips = uninviting!

I know that a lot of people love to hate her, but I am defintely not one of those people! I personally think that all those people who do so are the same ones helping her earn millions a year. Yep, I said it!

"No Mas" screams my beauty basket

Luckily, I have naturally  long eyelashes, but I have a hard time finding a mascara that enhances my length and not make them look like long black sticks. That all changed a week ago.

My good friend sent me this mascara that I absolutely love, love, and did I mention love! Say "buenos dias" to Longcils Boncza Longcilmatic Mascara. Unlike most of the supposed "creme" mascaras on the market, this one actually gives a creamy and silky look and feel to my lashes. I am only going to use this on special occasion, seeing as my wallet will not allow me grab another tube anytime soon. That sucks!

Moving on!

Since I've dyed my hair, I have been looking for products to protect the new color that I am absolutely loving. Since chemicals always seems to sprinkle a little dryness throughout your hair, moisture and conditioning become your new BFFs. Since I am having such a great fling with with Bed Head's Ego Boost, I decided to snatch up Bed Head Treat Me Right. Its a five minute treatment that left my hair so soft and shiny that I had a hard time keeping my satin scarf on my head last night. I will give them this, the combination of the smell and relaxation did make me feel like I was in spa! Defintely worth the grab! Muy bien, Bed Head!

Now I am off to do some washing and cleaning, starting with me!

I'm a slut!

That's right, I am slut....for make-up palettes! Thought you had me, huh?! I love those sleek palettes that contain the perfect shades of eyeshadow, blush, and lip gloss that all compliment each other!

They are just the perfect bag essentials. I am a fan of anything that will help to minimize the bulge in my bag. "Angels Wear Dior" is still taking up residency in bag along with my Clinique pressed powder in Matte Honey. They leave me more room to squeeze other miscellaneous junk in my bag du jour!

I hate having to dig in my already overflowing bag to reach yet another bag, to have to look through that bag to touch up my eyeshadow with my color choice of the day. Plus, I then have the residue of 30 different colors now on my hands thanks to all the make-up I had to push aside to reach my intended target. Yep, palettes are mavens of make-up.

Here is one by Sephora that I have the pleasure of using in the past. It contains everything you need to color in your face, plus it comes in that oh so super palette. Its filled with a highlighter, blush, shimmer, shimmery eyeshadows, and topped off with a pair of glosses, that I actually loved! They were lovely enough to give a blush brush and a lip brush, but I opted to pair it with my travel set of brushes.

As I was browsing palettes through Sephora.com, I ran across this Stila set that I am really itching to try. Its a limited edition Stila set that supposedly includes all the essentials for Fall 2006. A little early, but so what! I'd rather be early than late, especially when it comes to beauty and fashion. I just got a little monetary grip from a freelance project I am doing, so, I think I might treat myself.

Now, if you don't mind, I am off to wash my hair, because my hair has been marinating in olive oil for well over 12 hours. My hair needed a good conditioning treatment!

My new pastime!

For the past few weeks I have found a new hobby to kill time in between looking for a job, doing freelance projects, and coming up with post topics; checking my hair for split ends! Are you jealous?

It started when I found an end that had been split into three! Yeah, you read right, THREE! I damn near dropped dead, but luckily the thought of me getting a manicure later that day quickly revived me! Anyway, ever since that day I have been searching for products that will prevent such a catastrope from happening again. Here a few of my finds.

The first is an oldie but goody! Its Healthy Ends by Profectiv and holds the title of being the subject of one of the first posts I ever wrote. I have been having a soft and split end free affair with Healthy Ends for over a year. Recently, it has been really hard to find. I use to be able to pick it up at almost any Wal-mart or Walgreen, but now I can only seem to find it at the Walgreens downtown on Main St. here in Memphis. When I found that triple split end, my hair had been deprived of it for a few weeks. Needless to say, when I was downtown this weekend I strutted out of Walgreens with a little over 25 bucks worth of Healthy Ends (5 jars to be exact)! You have to stock up on the good and hard to find stuff. Lord forbid if they ever discontinued my Healthy Ends, I might just have to start rocking the Sinead O'Conner look circa 1990.

The next product is something I found in the bathroom of a friend of mine who is addicted to hair care products. Its Tigi Bed Head, Ego Boost Split End Mender, Leave-In Conditioner  and don't let the long title and slightly high price tag deter you from picking this up. I fell victim to that in the past. Once I was in Trade Secrets in Oak Court Mall and thought about buying it until I saw the price tag.  Over $10 is a little high for me when it comes to hair care prods. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a couple of bottles. You can use it on dry and wet hair, can you say "double the pleasure, double the fun". I have also been using it to stop this bad case of flyaways I have been plagued with for the past couple of weeks. Definitely worth taking up that scarce bathroom counter space, and in my case, taking up space in my everyday bag!

The final product is something my colorist threw at me a couple of weeks ago when I got my hair colored. Its packed with aloe vera, olive oil, and various vitamins for dry, color treated hair and split ends. It might as well have my name and a picture of me and dry and colored hair stamped across the side, but instead it has Propoline Mask for dry, colored hair and split ends splashed on the box. Its a mask that you apply to your hair after shampooing. You leave it on for a few minutes, rinse it out and enjoy your fab, soft, and moisturized hair sans split ends! Another pricey product, but worth the dollars!

I am glad to say, I have not found another triple split end, let alone the typical split end! I give credit to these products, because they have defintely helped me and my hair!

Now I am off the take this silver nail polish off my toes. I don't know what I was thinking last night when I put it on!

I am so in love!

For a couple of years now, I have been hearing about this wonderful skin treatment called microdermabrasion. Initially, I thought it was for women of "a certain" age to help reduce the appearance of winkles and whatnot, but I have been schooled that I have been somewhat wrong.

On Thursday, I made a long overdue visit to my dermatologist. I brought up the possibility of me getting a microdermabrasion treatment and he promptly let me know that I was in prime candidacy because of my acne prone skin.

Although he assured me the process would be painless, the whirring sound coming from the device made me feel otherwise. Needless to say, the doctor was right and once again, I was wrong.

He did warn me about the appearance of my skin and how it would take a while to notice the difference. I was shocked at what I saw when I looked in the mirror. My face was all red and looked sore. It looked so abused, that when I was unlocking my front door, my neighbor asked if I was in an accident or fight. I was slightly embarassed, but I brushed it off. I spent the rest of the day applying the moisturizer that the doctor gave me. After an hour or so, the redness was disappearing and the positive glow was approaching. The next morning, I realized that I found a new love of the moment, microdermabrasion.

Since I got the treatment because of my acne prone skin, I was told that I would need regular treatments. Instead of dropping that moolah on the doctor visits, I am looking to invest in an at home treatment. I looked and begged my mom to dish out the dollars for this:

DermaNew Acne and Oil Clarifying Kit. Although its not one of the more exspensive kits, I still have high hopes for this based on the description and the fact that its made for my ugly skin type.

Here's to good looking skin!

Foam it up!

As I was watching reruns of The Hills on MTV, I saw a ladies shaving cream commercial boasting about a new fruity, probably stomach turning, scent. That made me ponder why these companies aim to spend so much time and marketing budget on creating and promoting a new scent every other week.

If they really want to grab my attention and purse strap, then I suggest they make a shaving cream that doesn't foam up so much that I have to hire a search team to find my razor or cover my shower with enough foam to make me feel like I was attacked by a wedding cake, or gag from the smell of 20 different kinds of tropical daquiris.

It has been really hard, but I have actually found and used a couple of shaving products that my shower and I love.

The first is Razor sharp, super smooth shaving gel by the masterminds over at Philosophy. The reason why I like this so is because its a gel doesn't produce a lava of lather to cover my shower. Its also unisex, so that special guy that you occasionally cohabitat with can use it. I recommend that you only use a small amount, avoid if you have sensitive skin, and prepare to drop an amount to only use for shaving.

A friend of mine keeps this in her bathroom, so I had to try it. Its called Archipelago Botanical Shaving Milk and the name speaks for itself in terms of texture. Its very much like milk and feels so smooth, slick, and super moisturized. Just like the Philosophy shaving gel, its quite pricey just to shave away some unwanted hair. At least it works!

The last gel is by the people over at Gillette. Its their Satin Care Shave Gel with Skin Toning. No fruity scent, plus its packed with the right vitamins to help tone your skin. What more can you ask for in the summer time, or as I like to call it show off those legs already time. Unlike the previous two shaving nods, this one does not cost an arm and well shaved leg. Muy bien!

What a waste!

I know that toner seems like a waste of time to some people, but my skin would bump up like a red rocky road without it. I ran out a couple of weeks ago and literally had to go a couple of days without it and it showed. I asked my mom to buy and bring me some, without actually giving her a name.

She brought me this: Olay Refreshing Toner. I hated it almost immediately when I wiped a cotton ball full of it across by freshly washed face. It does nothing for me. I got waaayyyy better results from the Wal-Mart version of Clean and Clear. The only thing that this Olay toner offered me was a nice smell and no evidence of actually removing the dirt and make-up that washing alone couldn't achieve.

I understand its suppose to "gently" tone skin, but give me a break! I probably would have done better using plain witch hazel. I give this a D-. It would have been a F, but I do like the smell.

The "devil" is fierce

I am so sick of hearing about this movie, but still utterly anticipating its arrival! I am not a movie-goer by any means. When I see a commercial for a movie that intrigues and interests me, I almost immediately say "I can't wait for that to come out on DVD!" That is not the case for "The Devil Wears Prada." The name alone already can count me in for whatever it costs nowadays to see a movie.

I have been hearing about the movie for almost a year, but for those of you who have been living under a nasty, moldy rock or without access to a TV to see all the commercials and promos, then keep reading.

Its about a recent college grad named Andy Sachs(Anne Hathaway) who lands a job as an assistant for Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the editor of Runway magazine. Runway is the fashion bible to all those who worship fashion, in the movie at least!Anyway, it looks to be a great movie, so go over to Yahoo to read more about this film that hits theaters June 30, because the review over there is alot better than anything I could write about a movie I haven't seen!

Although "The Devil Wears Prada" isn't even set to grace us with its presence until two weeks, I've seen and read at least 20 different promos for it, this weekend alone! I must say that the promos are great, especially the ones that involve shopping, or in my case, and window shopping!

Here are few of my favorite and fab products associated with the film.

I usually save my favs for last, but not in this case. My favorite item associated with this movie is this tee that can only be found at Kitson. Anyone who knows me or sees me on my "off" days know that I am a tee junkie. This light blue creation says "Please Bore Someone Else With Your Question", which is a quote from the movie via Ms. Priestly. Grab your 48 bucks and grab it while its hot!

The next promo product is by Dior and I was lucky enough to have had this sent to me a few weeks ago thanks to a cosmetisc connection I have living on the outskirts of Manhattan. Its tentatively called "Angels wear Dior". They would retract that title if they knew I was wearing it! Anyway, it consists of five shadows, mascara, and gloss, which all gives you a fresh faced look. I tossed this in my make-up bag as soon as I fell in love with this awesome little compact. $50! Great steal, considering all I had to do was answer the door to get mine!

The next item is so hot that I had to cut on my ceiling fan to cool me down! I am not a big fashion fan of leopard print anything, because it reminds me of those cheap fur print coats old ladies who use to be fashionable wear. These shoes by Quai D'Orsay makes me consider retracting that fashion philosophy, maybe not!

Now you know that the marketing minds behind this movie and the fashion gods employed by Prada were not about to allow this movie to be promoted without joining forces and the product of that force is a perfume. The Devil Wear Prada Tendre set includes various versions of Prada's "parfums". My roomie ordered this and I will admit that I've splashed myself with it a couple, okay, a gaggle of times! I love it!

In case you didn't know, this movie is based on a book of the same name by Lauren Weisberger. I haven't read the book, but based on the reviews over at Amazon.com, its not worth the read. Those reviews have prevented me from buying and reading the book, but the movie looks to good to past up!

To see more of the fab products in or based on "The Devil Wears Prada", head over to the sections that Sephora and Amazon have set up.

Denim Delimma

I hope everyone had a good weekend! Well, I scarred by back on a door and stumped by left big toe so bad that it was bleeding under the nail. Other than that, I had a pretty good weekend!

Just like almost every woman my age, I own enough pair of jeans to wear a different pair everyday for at least a month. Despite all those delicious denims that hang in the bottom of my closet, which colors range from the light blue of a clear spring day to a blue so deep it almost looks black, my hand always gravitates toward these $40 deep rinse pair of Paris Blues I bought on a whim two summers ago. Everytime I fit myself into them, I always wonder why I don't attempt to wear a pair of the others.

I've dressed them up with some colorful stilts and blouses and dressed them down with green Chuck Taylors and vintage looking Hello Kitty tee.

I've worn them so much that the bottom of the jeans are starting to tear due to me dragging them under the bottom of my flats. I brought it on myself!

Now that I am broke, my closet is yelling at me to A.) buy another pair of jeans or B.) wear one of the other dozens of pairs taking up space. *Looks in wallet* I am going to have to go with the latter!

I am going to try a pair of capri denims that I think I've only wore once or twice. Shame!

Its time to play...

"What's in my bag!"

As I have said in previous posts, I am a big bag fiend, but there is a method to my purse philosophy: The bigger the bag, the more crap I can stuff in it. Other than a bulging make-up bag( I'll post what's in there tommorrow), here is the other crap taking up seasonal residency in my bag.

Tissue. This is an essential bag accessory in the summer, especially here in Memphis. The heat from the sun bounces off that Missisippi River and produces some of the most intense heat on this side of the river. When I feel that sweat starting to roll toward my perfectly manicured eyebrows, I snatch a piece of tissue out of my purse and get to dabbing! Another beauty tragedy stopped before any damage can be done!

Travel size perfume. I am a big peeve about scents in the summer. I always think that the humid heat vaporizes even the most exspensive of perfumes, but I'm sure I'm wrong. Someone who works in the perfume business once told me that if you can smell the perfume on you, then more than likely its not that good. After my personal evaluation, I agree. Also, that is why I am always conscience about the way I smell, because I can't smell it on me. Currently, a small little bottle of Vera Wang's Cherish can be found in the bottom of my big bag du joir.

Gum/mints. Last thing I want to smell is bad breath from other people, let alone my own. Everyone needs to keep something to refresh their breath within reach. My dad keeps Carefree gum in his glove department,I guess that is were I got this from. Thanx, daddy! If you search around in my bag, you will find Sour Apple Altoid

Small bottle of SPF. My mom is an advocate for the protection of one's skin in the summer and she is always making sure that there is enough SPF within reach of all of her loved ones. She is the reason I am so addicted to applying sunscreen at least two times a day, even when I am not out in the sun for a long period of time. I asked her that the next time she brings me some more SPF, make sure that it is the spray on, no rub kind that Coopertone now makes. I gotta try that!

Small container of lotion. For some strange reason, everytime I go somewhere that is important, my hands dry up quicker than my bank account. The first time I noticed that was in an interview as I was writing in front of the person I was interviewing for a story and I felt so embarrassed. Lesson learned! Since then, I dare you to ever see me with dry hands, go ahead and try and be prepared to fail!

PalmPilot. I do not own a cell phone, but I have a hard time remembering numbers and that is where the Palm Pilot comes into play. Also, the notepad option is a dream come true when I am in a rush and I come up with a post, article, or graphic idea. I scribble it down and go! My Palm Pilot is a little old now, but as long as it continues to do what I need it to do, then I am more than pleased.

Nail File. My nails are not that long, but there is enough to snag on fabric occasionally or break here and there. I don't use it often, but in the past I found myself needing a file without one in sight. Better safe than sorry!

Fabric Covered Elastic Bands. I needs these for those days I dare to wear my hair hanging down. When I do this, within two hours, my hair ends up in a nice ponytail/bun. I can only tolerate hair around my ears for a certain length of time. Sometimes, I don't know why I even try!

Two or three bobby pins. This kind of goes with the ponytail. I use them to hold back the strays that blow up when I least want them to. I swear on my only Fendi bag, it always happens!

Last, but defintely not least!

Big, Plastic framed sunglasses! I love my shades! They are tortoise with oval/square lens. I can't get enough of them. Not only do they make me look incognito, but protects my eyes from those demonic UV ray!

Well, that is what makes my shoulder hurt and wrinkles up my oxford shirt when I am toting my bag on my arm.

Although it seems like a lot, there are some honorable mentions such as a small notebook and which ever current book I am trying to finish before the summer is up.

The only thing that makes me feel better is the fact that I am positive that I am not the only one who fills their bag to capacity, am I?

These are hot!

My interview went good, but I can never tell what the interviewer thinks. In interviews and life, I always hope for the best and prepare for the worst. What else can I do! Oh Kalisah, since you are a fellow memphian, the job was for the station located across the street from the U of M and was for web producer. Keeping my mani and pedi crossed!

Anyhoo, these shoes are crazy hot!  They are from the wonderful world of Dolce and Gabanna. Takes me back to junior high and all us girls were copying the style of "Clueless" with the oxford shoes and thigh-high tights. We were fierce or thought we were!

Although they are sick, the sun is currently too hot to have these strapped on my feet. My feet would never forgive me for that. It would take a boatload of pedicures and O.P.I polish for them to forgive me! Better yet, forgive myself!

If you and your feet have a better relationship than me and mine and have the moolah to drop, then be my guest!

Shakes like a bowl of jelly!

I decided to take time off from replaying the new Beyonce track non-stop and admiring my freshly smoothed heels to write a post.

How cute are these little guys! I saw them yesterday while I was racing to the exit of Dillard's. These bright little jars called the name of me and my friend. After one the chatty ladies behind the Lancome counter let us test it out, we each shook our wallets on the counter until we had enough to each walk out of the store with our own little jars of Lacome Juicy Gelee lip gloss.  I got it one in "fruit punch" while my friend strolled out with it in "pink lollipop", which I love!

The gloss itself feels just like jelly, which felt a little weird swiping on my lips. Despite the texture it melted down to regular gloss. The outcome was slick and shiny. I felt and looked like I just dipped my lips in liquid glass! Incredible!

Now, I am off to try and figure out what to wear to an interview that I have today at 2:30, which I am very excited about! Its with my favorite news station and right down the street from me, which means that I can walk to work! I need more walking on my life.

The thing I hate about interviews is the visual preparation part. I hate trying to figure out what to wear, how to wear my hair, and make-up color choices. It's all so tedious, especially when the interview is in a field were image is very important!

Well, I am off to get ready! Wish me luck and remember...

Words have power!

Dove sent me samples of their Sheer Moisture and Therapy shampoo and conditioner, which I requested. I haven't tried them yet, but you all will be the first to know my opinion. Anyway, they also sent them to me in this little packet with some coupons and nice reading material about real beauty,  but the best thing in that packet were different magnetic words that allows you to come up with various phrases. The sentence I formed and currently hanging around a metal picture frame next to my bed is: "Beauty is fun, fresh, and always different" sans the commas.

I am trying to think of another sentence/phrase to make. Here are all the words besides the ones above: my, body, beautiful, change, she, me, are, together, a, s, funny, being, good, what, best, friend, mom, think, we, inspire, am, happy, like, daughter, can, have, I, unique, real, has, love.

I'm still thinking! I am taking suggestions!

Sell your own crap!

I have given you all my rants and opinions about celeb lines and the fact that almost every celeb and their ungracefully aging mother has one of their own. I have reluctantly come to terms with that fact, but the main problem I have now with the celebs and those overpiced jeans and tees they are constantly stuffing down our throats is the fact that you hardly see them wearing their own sequined and screened crap.

When I open up those fab tabs I semi-religiously read, I find it somewhat insulting that these same celebs who are on TV and print pushing their glossed up garbs are not wearing them when they are shot in candid form. Not wearing them shopping with friends, walking their dogs, or going to lunch with their group of equally famous/psuedo famous friends.

Seeing a celeb wearing pieces from their own line is like finding a four leaf clover, seeing a shooting star, or finding a pair of Jimmy Choos for half price; very rare! Yet alone, leave it to the the "queen of candid couture" to once again be seen wearing pieces from her House of Dereon line. What ever happened to just throwing on some sweats to go out and eat? Bee is definitely making us aspiring fashionistas step up our running-some-errands-and-grabbing-a-bite-to-eat-look!

Anyway, you can tell its a pair of those slightly overpriced jeans from her collection by the detail on the back pocket. Sidebar: I definitely love the logo that Bee & Co. chose for the line! Its different! Seriously, how many times are we suppose to wear jeans with nothing but a basic  line or two of threading on the pocket without busting our bank accounts.

For fun, I went to look for these cropped denims on the H.O.D website, but to no avail. I am assuming that these pieces will probably be in the upcoming season's collection. If this is your style, then get those dollars in order!

I am just happy to see a celeb wearing their own stuff. Gwen Steffani is another celeb that I frequently see wearing her own super  trendy and cute clothes. I hope that they keep it up because they do not want to end up like some else who "had" a line coming, but was stupid enough to say on camera that another brand was her favorite! Can you say lawsuit?

And the closet addition is.....

AMBUSH!!! I love her! I went to test her out at a local shoe store and fell in love instantly! The store only had her in black and that just would not do! I ordered the white ones from Nordstrom.com,so hopefully she will be on my feet by next weekend!

After all the talk of coloring, I finally did it yesterday! I dyed it a deep cooper and I must say that I am glad I did so! I love it! I will try and find a picture of the color and post it.

Now, I am off to try and fix this site, because I noticed a problem with the alignment for all the tables to the right.

Celeb Fashion No-No!

Oh My! What was Ms. Webb thinking when she picked that outfit, let alone the shoes! I am sure those shoes cost more than everything I have on, including make-up and beauty products, but that still does not make it neccessary for such a blatant fashion faux pas!

I always wonder what is going through the minds of celebs who are happily posing in god awful outfits as if they are the ish! Sometimes the look just doesn't accomadate the accessories or hairstyle, but I can't imagine those little leather baggies Ms. Webb is wearing going with anything. Am I alone in that assumption!?

With some jeans?.....No!

Some linen shorts?....Maybe,..No!

A nice summer dress?..Ugh, NO!

Help a sista out! Am I alone?

Times are rough!

Sorry for the late post, but I had to go do something that I have been "dye-ing" to do! Finally!

Anyway,I have always believed that when spending money on make-up, most of your make-up moolah should go to the foundation, concealer and/or primer. I would rather spend money on my beloved Clinique foundation and Smashbox primer and rack up at the drugstores and on lesser priced items for coloring in my face.

I have heard of the E.L.F (Eyes.Lips.Face) cosmetic line and how all the make-up is priced at a buck! The only product of theirs I have used in the past is the clear lash and brow gloss and plumping lip glosses, which I truly enjoyed! That is why I was more than happy to put one of their ads on my site. This past Saturday, I went to their site and bought some make-up for my pre-make-up addict little sister and decided that I would test out some more of their products. I am so happy I did!

The first product that I swiped acrosss my colorless cheeks was the Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow. I love it because it has the perfect name and look for me. Can you believe that the color lasted all day?! And for a buck at that! I bought little sister the same thing except in Shy. Perfect for her because it adds a natural flushed look on her. Great pigmentation!

The next E.L.F product that I pulled out the delivered envelope that was filled to the brim with make-up is the palette of Brightening Eye Color in Butternut. The little white compact was filled with four golden and shimmery shadows. Just like the blushes, great pigmentation! The applicator was a little weak, but I didn't care as long as the shadow itself was good. I highly recommend this, but as a word of caution, I suggest that you buy your own shadow applicators.

These are just two little nuggets that I decided to drop from my red and pink make-up case and help spread the word. I suggest that you click on that little E.L.F ad to your left. If you do, it would help us both out!

(P.S. I will talk about that "dye-ing" appointment I had today, tommorrow!)

All tied up!

I know that I have been slacking in the post department, but I have been supa dupa busy. That is going to change starting today!

When it comes to hair accessories I use, that area is usually filled with plain black fabric elastic bands. For the past couple of weeks, the elastic bands have taken a backseat to wide headbands and beautiful print scarves  to hold back my flyaways tresses.

A couple of months ago, my mom gave me this beautiful Pucci scarf that I never wore, because it wasn't my "thing" at the time. This summer though, that scarf has been wrapped around my head and straps of my "bag du jour" more times than I can count! I am officially claiming this scarf as a my summertime fling! Today I had to drop my lover off at the dry cleaners because of a glass of spilled raspberry ice tea at lunch. Oh, how I miss him so!

Since I was sans scarf, I stopped by Target to find a temp for my Pucci. I found some of the cutest scraves by Issac Mizrahi. The one to right is now holding back my hair as I type. Its so cute! I guess dots are the "it" print this season, because they were slapped all up and down scarves, barrettes, and bags in the hair and accessories aisle!

Anyway, back to scarves! Scarves have so many functions, especially with hair. Instead of just throwing that ponytail in your hair, give it a companion. Throw a scarf around you head to hold back potential flyaways and you will look like you actually spent time on your hair style instead of the basic and generic ponytail. Better yet, use that scarf to hold your ponytail instead of an elastic band like yours truly!

If you are one of those ladies who let your follicles flow freely all day, then you probably aready now about the beauty of the scarf to hold down the hair that sits near your forehead. For my fellow brown beauties who are sporting the naturals styles, a nice scarf can polish those looks up quite nicely! My curly tresses have thanked me already!

BONUS, BONUS, BONUS ALERT: One of my fav and fab uses of scarves are that oh so important "splash of color" that are needed for us white tees and basic bottoms ladies! Need a splash of color, throw a bright multi-colored scarf on your bag, waist, or crown of glory! That'll shut up those colorless comments!

Another Brow Buddy!

Sweat is as much a staple in the summer as swimsuits and heat strokes. When those beads of sweat decide to move from your hairline, one of the first places they roll through are those perfectly made-up eyebrows that you spent minutes perfecting. Then, in a different part of your face, they roll to your lip area and make a mess there!

The thing about make-up is you don't want to look like you have alot on, if any. One giveaway is the look of sweat smeared brows, liners, and lipstick. If you hate that as much as me, then Benefit has a product that you should look into. Its called She Laq and it is a wonderful sealant that I found in a box in the back of my closet. Oh, I occasionally buy things and forget about them, but that is neither or there!

This sealant comes with four cute little brushes for you brows, liners, and lips. You just slide on a nice thin coat over the product(liners, lipsticks, and/or brow pows) that like to smear and allow to dry. The smell is not that great or bad, but your make-up masterpiece is sealed for the day.

The only downside is that you need a good make-up remover or face cleanser to remove it, which should have been a given considering its stops sweat from ruining your made up visage! I have been using it since Sunday and I am still happy, better yet thrilled about the results! Definitely worth scrapping you wallet for!

Rock Steady!

Look at what was in the box that the UPS man just handed me! BTW, it wasn't the cute UPS man. Anyway, my ex-boyfriend who now takes up residency in New York sent this to me, I don't know why, but I will call and thank him later.

Its made by this company called LifePod and they make a bunch of cute bags and electronic cases, including this bag. Its called the Rock Steady Stereo gym bag. You can hook it up your MP3 player, Ipod, PSP, CD player, or Satellite radio and it will play through the speakers in the side of the bag.

Keep in mind that I just got it about 20 minutes ago while I was typing my last post, but I was able to run and grab my sister's Ipod to test it out! It is defintely one of the neatest bags I own. I just wish I had a place to use this.

It reminds me of a 2006 version of the guys who use to walk around with those huge "Ghetto Blaster" radios, circa 1987, except this is for the ladies! This bag will be perfect for picnics, because it also holds a whole lot of summer time crap/essentials. Don't let the gold throw you off, they offer them in a couple of other colors. I wish they had one in candy apple red!

I know I already wrote a post for today, but I just had to show you all what I got!

A summer must have!

Remember the name: Frederic Fekkai Beach Waves Spray! I have seen reviews of this spray and was very curious. Therefore, I seeked and bought it!

For some reason, when I think of summer hair, I think nice, big, and natural looking curls. You know, the kind of curls you only seem to achieve when your hair is dirty. This spray helps you have those natural and tossled curls, but with clean hair underneath. Plus, it helps your hair fight off that diabolical damage from the sun, chlorine, and saltwater!

This stuff is perfect for people like me who love that beach hair look, but don't have the luxury of a beach near by instead of a big, muddy river that answers to the name of "Mississippi"! I give Freddy Fekkai's beach spray a solid and sturdy A! This is defintely a summer must have!

BTW, he also has a spray that cleans your hair without shampooing. That might be my next beauty buy!

Make-up and Beauty Marketing

One of the first things to get your line notice in the beauty market is a pretty and attractive packaging.

Marketing execs know that the pretty, powdered, and primped packages always get swiped up quicker than the packages with the pretty lady on the cover. I, for one, totally agree with them! I would rather have the dolled up house with the lovely products weighing them down than that basic looking bottle with nothing but a title and ingredients adorning it.

Even stores like Sephora and Beauty.com follow in line with these make-up marketing methods. When you go to these companies websites, you will notice that the products on the first page are either well established brands and/or fairly new products, but with pretty packaging.

Even if the product is not that good or is not right for you, that bright yellow lemon on the bottle or the fluffy pink brush will always make a woman somewhere reach in her equally cute bag and grab the monetary value of that product. I speak firsthand! If it wasn't for my little sister starting to experiment with make-up, I would have a wastepaper basket full of useless make-up.

If you don't agree with me, then can you honestly say that you would pick up a blush that comes in a brown and black box looking compact over a equally good blush that comes in a sparkly light blue compact! Yeah, right! You don't pick your clothes and accessories out that way, so why would you pick you make-up out that way.

They say don't judge a book by its cover, but lucky make-up doesn't fall under that ugly umbrella!

Muy Perfecto!

I am a huge fan of color tints, especially for my lips in the summer. They are perfect for those of you who love to have some color on your lips, but still want it to look somewhat natural.

The problem I have with most tints is the application process. The one I currently use comes in a little glass jar and you apply it with a little brush. It almost resembles water down nail polish. I love the color, but despise applying it. Therefore,I am a huge fan of the tint pens and markers and my fav is the one by Mark.

I ordered the TintMarker from a mark representative that lives in my apartment complex. I must admit that I love it! I wore it last night to a dinner party a good friend of mine from college was having. It lasted for well over five hours and did not dry out my lips, which is a problem I have faced in the past with lip tints.

Mostly,I love the fact you almost have to draw it on. Its made like a magic marker.Almost fool-proof, what more can a girl want? It also helped to eliminate the stain residue left on my hands from trying to apply the stain I was using.

I ordered the one in pink tease, but I am definitely scrapping up some change to order it in Foxy Brown. Now I am off to throw away those jars of stains that I now collecting dust in my make-up case.

Help Wanted!

I was all ready to add a post, when my crappy laptop decided to freeze. Therefore, I decided that I would forget about the fab and cheap post and continue on with another post. By the time you read this post, it would have been saved a few hundred times. Moving On!

My closet and I have been feening and briefly seeking a pair of cute summer stilts. We took inventory and noticed that we have a opening up front next to a pair of cherry print espadrilles. We are looking for something colorful, trendy, versatile, and willing to work for under 200 bucks! We are an Equal Opportunity Wardrobe!

We have had a few applicants that are prime candidates, but refuse to make a decision before next Friday.

Our first applicant is Mary Kate and she is from the beautiful and spacious land of Nine West. She looks like I could get alot of good work out of her in bars, clubs, and interviews/meetings. Plus, she is willing to work for under $80. She could be a great hire!

The next potential candidate goes by the name of Bling from Hype. I am not sure about her, but there is something that still puts her in the running. She is not very verasatile or colorful, but she is very stylish and has the right look to work up front. She is a little costly though for $130. We'll see!

The next candidate is Ambush and she is a product of Franco Sarto. She is very versatile and I am willing to work a white shoe, even after Labor Day! She looks very work appropriate in the summer and I might be able to have a cocktail with her after work. Plus, she is willing to work for around $90. Right up my alley! I might even be able to hire her black or brown counterpart.

The final candidate is quite pretty and fierce. As soon as I saw her I was automatically jealous of all the other people who have had the opportunity to work her in the past. She is so fierce that she doesn't even go by a name, just a description by Etro. She is very colorful, versatile, and stylish! Her downfall is the amount that she is asking for; $237! She is worth it, but I am not sure if I am willing to put up that kind of money when I am not sure how well we will work together.

Oh, how I do not envy hiring managers now! Although we have some prime candidates, we are still looking. If you and your closet are looking to fill a vacancy on the ground floor, then feel free to click on the names of some of my candidates to check out their qualifications.

Thursday Fav. Fab, & Cheap!

First of all, just in case you haven't glance at a calendar, today is the beginning of a new month. Therefore, the posts from May have now set up shop in the archives room!

Now, back to business! I had a hard time deciding what today's post would be about. I was torn between Chapstick and Carmex. The both of them are great and inexspensive, so I decided to  put them both on the soap box with me!

I have already given ya'll my praise of Carmex, but one thing that I love about it is that its always under a buck and two quarters. I also notice that the price printed on the jar itself went up a dime, but still a good price. Although it is meant for the lips, I also tend to use it as a cuticle cream. It works just as well!

The beauty of chapstick is that you can never have to many. It is also such a compulsive buy and I think that is why the people over at Kroger put it right next Lucky magazine and chocolate; my two weaknesses!  One thing that Chapstick seems to offer me that Carmex doesn't is the ability to add a little natural color to my lips. The strawberry flavor chapstick is perfect, topped with a light pink or clear gloss. That was one of my first make-up discoveries I made in junior high. Boy, have I made more discoveries since then, but that is for different posts altogether!
