WEEKEND MOVIE

The wait is over and Dreamgirls finally hit theaters everywhere! Incredible music, performances, acting...INCREDIBLE! Its one of those movies that you wish you could be in shaking and gyrating on stage with Jimmy Early a.k.a one of the best Eddie Murphy performances I have seen!

The queen Bee did a great job, despite her past acting roles. However, believe the hype, Jennifer Hudson stole the hell out of that movie. I always think its corny when when people yell at the scene in theaters, but I damn near sparained my wrist from all the clapping I did following her perfomances!

Go see this movie! Amazing, breath taking, and very entertaining!

Thank You, Santa...I mean Nikky!

I did get my sewing machine, but not the one I posted! I got a better one and it is probably the most intimidating thing that I have ever seen in my life! It has all these digital buttons and settings and makes all this 'dings' and beeps when you push the buttons. I am gonna get around to setting it up soon, but I need some motivation! I probably spend some time wondering around  Erica's blog!

This Christmas I got quite a of bit jewelry; real and fake! My favorite is a 18 karat gold thin bangle that mi madre got for me! It's quite darling! Toss in a pair of white gold hoops, which reminds me of a scene from Mean Girls, and some fake, fashionable earrings and bracelets equals a jewelry box overload!

My aunt got me a pretty faboulous Betsey Johnson wallet! It gorgeous!!!!

My fashion and beauty obsessed friends and I decided to draw names this year and do the whole 'Secret Santa' thing. That way, we could each get one fabolous gift and not have to break the bank trying to cater to all of us!

My dear friend Nikky picked my name and she got me the most AH-MAZING body lotion. Its L'Occitane Shea Butter body lotion and its one of the most luxious lotions I have ever been blessed to slather on my skin. The smell is so delicious, I was sooo close to squeezing some down my throat!!

The lotion absorbed perfectly into my skin, but at the same time left such a wonderful silky sheen on my skin. I love this lotion, but I am trying not to use everyday since I know I won't be dropping $30 every month for it, but it is very hard to not to!

I DON'T CARE WHO'S YO' DADDY: Zanotti Platforms

I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend. I'm slowly gonna come back to posting frequently, so here is my baby step!

There are some fashion lines out there that never seem to do wrong. That's until you spend a night of holiday boredom browsing the internet and come across something that will forever put a dent on a label that you idolize and occasionally dream about having a closet full of their clothes and/or accessories.

Giuseppe Zanotti is known for making some of the most embellished and beautiful shoes on earth! They are usually adorned with big, colorful, and bright beads and gems with a tall and sexy heel to boot! I love Giuseppe Zanotti shoes!

However, when I saw these, my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach. It felt like walking in on your boyfriend kissing another chick; anger, disbelief, and the knowledge that you love for them will never be the same!

I am at a lost for words and refuse to continue!

Sweaters: Vests!

I heart oxford shirts all year round! In the spring, I wear them half buttoned with a thin, cute, little lacey cami underneath and rolled up quarter sleeve. In the summer, I wear them half buttoned, but with the sleeves rolled up past the elbow! In the fall, I wear them traditionally buttoned up and sleeves perfectly creased and long. In the winter, however, is when I let my uber preppiness takeover in the form of topping my oxfords with sweater vests!

I love sweater vests, in particular the pull over ones. You can wear them over long sleeve tees, short sleeve tees, or alone! They have come a long way from those hideous things associated with geeks and nerds. Wait a minute....I'm a undercover geek and nerd!!! Anyway, here are a couple that wouldn't hurt any closet.

COUNTERCLOCKWISE: Piper Fairaisle vest, $32.50, Delia's;  Deep V-neck Sleeveless sweater, $10.38, Fashion Bug; Soundgirl The Black Tune In vest, $39.99, KarmaLoop.com; Trina Turk V-Neck Vest, $62.90, Nordstrom; Mossimo Red Hooded Sleeveless Vest, $12.59, Target(it's not a vest, but I love it!); Alice Sweater Vest, $49, Guess; 555 Soul The Victory Sweater Vest, $46.95, KarmaLoop.com

A couple of people won't be getting gifts from me...

because I did a mini splurge this weekend. Chicago is almost as dangerous as visiting New York when it comes to shopping. Too many fantastic boutiques and too little moolah and time.

One of my favorite places in the world is Michigan Avenue a.k.a "The Magnificent Mile"! Its 8 blocks lined with apparently over 400 stores and boutiques. Anyway, I wondered into one of those magnificent boutiques called Jake and strutted out with this pair of new shoes:

Pedro Garcia Vera Platform Pump

Trust me, they are lovelier in person! I loved the rough edges and the overall sexiness pouring off of them! Love them!

Heading south for the wi...rest of your life?
I am back from a quite decent trip to Chicago. I always love going to Chicago; great shopping! I'll inform you of little piece of fashion fabolousness that I got... tommorrow!

Anyway, I found the following question in my inbox this past week and decided to answer it, so here:

I am currently pregnant and have been using Cocoa Butter to counteract the stretch marks and what not, but are there any products in particular that can stop the possible post pregnancy sagging? ~Anynomous

First of all, I was sorta shocked to receive an e-mail about pregnancy considering a.) I have never been pregnant and b.) Not sure if I ever want to be pregnant! and c.) This is more of a fashion blog with sparse sprinkling of beauty! However, my cousin is a new recent mother and had the same sagging fears and informed me of a product that she absolutely LOVED!!

Its Clarins' Bust Beauty Gel and Bust Beauty Lotion. Although its suppose to be used after the skin has started to sag, she started while she was still pregnant. You  can use either one, but Natalia(my cousin) opted to use both; the gel in the morning and the lotion at night.

Its a little pricey, but oh so worth. For those of you who plan on or currently dealing with the effects of weight loss and whose skin is just not holding up the way that it use to, then this could also help you out tremendously! Natalia is a "firm" believer and that's good enough for me! It has been six months she brought her little angel on this earth and she still slathers this stuff on her and still no sagging and dragging! I, myself, am really tempted to get some!

Also, if cocoa butter is not doing that much for the stretch mark situation, then Carol's Daughter has a new product called Sexy Belly. Personally, I haven't tried it or know anyone who has tried it yet, but it's Carol's Daughther! Carol's Daughter products haven't let me down yet, so I give high hopes for this!

Weekend Overload: I gotta get away!

Yes, chicas I have to get up out this crappy and indecisive Memphis weather. Last week I was prancing in my new DKNY winter white trench coat and today I was walking my dog while wearing red capris and purple ballerina flats!!! Therefore, I am heading to cold Chicago to slave away for this project I am doing for a client and, let's be real, to spend a little early Christmas money that is burning a hole in the pocket of my new brown tweed trousers! Anyway, drop by Monday, because I am answering one of the numerous e-mails that you lovely readers occasionally send me. This one is one that I have been sitting on and finally have a reason to post! I hope you all have a wonderful and stylish weekend filled with fab fun! I have alot of stuff stuffed in this post!

WEEKEND MOVIE NOD

This past Tuesday, instead of doing my new weekly scouring of Wal-mart to get the new CD releases, fashion was on my mind! Therefore, I quickly grabbed the limited edition, double disc set of The Devil Wears Prada! It finally was released this week and I was so happy, because I never got to see the whole movie when it was in the theaters...long story! Anyway, since Tuesday,  I have already watched it three times and I would probably be watching it now if there weren't so many great games on tonight!

TDWP is soo funny, sassy, and style worshipping worthy! If you come to this site regularly, then you definitely want to have this movie in your collection. I was like this after 'Clueless' came out, which I also bought along with 'Mean Girls'. Oh, the drawers full of thigh high tights I use to have! Anyway, Meryl Streep is so great in this movie, that it would almost be ridiculous is she didn't receive that Golden Glode nom this morning! Two well-manicured thumps up!!

WEEKEND CELEB STYLE

While I was getting my daily dose of Juicy News this afternoon, I saw this picture of Kelis wearing some of the hottest tights I have seen. For the past couple of weeks, I have been developing an addiction to tights. I was trying to avoid it, but I can't fight the feeling! Needless to day, these shimmering tights stole my heart! Therefore, I made it my afternoon mission to find and seize my very own pair of shimmering tights! Ladies, momma struck shimmery pay dirt:

Wolford Versailles Glitter tights, $40, Intermix

I admit that $40 is a little pricey for some tights, but if I can't find any cheaper ones in a week these will be on their way here to Memphis, Tennessee!

Dorothy...Updated!

When I was a little girl, I use to love drowning my elementary exhausted days with a cup of Nesquik Chocolate milk, sitting on one the overstuffed pillows from the sofa while watching Dorothy & Co. skip down the yellow brick road! I wasn't really into the story or the music or the message....I was all about the shoes! Addictions start at an early age!

It was love at first sight with those ruby red slippers Dorothy got to rock! I wanted them more than my 'My Little Piny' collection! While other little girls were heartbroken year after year when they never got the pony they wanted, I was heartbroken because I never got my own pair of glittery red slippers....5 years in a row!!!!

Since then, I have had many shoes and many red shoes, but none that glittered! However, that could all change, including my desire for some glittery shoes. I have seen a gaggle of glittery shoes everywhere, including a pair that could be my very own pair of red "ruby" slippers! Break out the shades lady and take a peek at all that glitter!

Smooth Smackers

For the past couple of years, I toss my beloved lip glosses that I slather my lips with during the hot months for lipsticks, but not jsut any lipsticks! I hold a personal scavenger hunt for lipsticks that claim to hydrate and/or moistirize, because of the dry lips that show up on my face in the winter.

One that I recently found is Origins Flower Fusion hydrating lipstick. Its filled with anti-drying agents, which include flower extracts. I bought it on a spur, because those Commision Cosmetic Counter Chicks are so persistent! Anyway, this lipstick was nothing less than a moisturizing session for my lips! The texture is superbly creamy and looks like it melted on you lips!

One of the lovliest things about this lipstick is the gaggle of color options. After I had a mini rant to the sales girl about how I hard it is to find brown and red shades that I love on me, she pulled out this little slender box containing a lipstick called Honey Flower! Its a scrumptious shade of brownish red that is nothing less than beautiful on me! After I admired myself in the little silver mirror on the Origins counter for awhile, I knew that I had to have more than one. I left with three and perfect creamy and hydrated lips! I also recommend you trying it in Marigold, Hyacinth, and Jasmine!

Dear Santa,

I know that I haven't been the best chica in the world this year. I know that I shouldn't have flirted with that cop to help get my friend out of that speeding that we both know she deserved! I also admit that its was bad that night that I screening calls to avoid talking to my dear friend Nicky, because I was cramping and really didn't want to hear her nag about her skank of a boyfriend who she would never leave no matter what I or anyone else would say. I also admit that I shouldn't be using my friends discounts to help my ever growing closet of stuff that I hardly wear, but oh how I love those Prada pumps!

All that aside, I think that I was really good this year. I didn't kill anyone, despite temptation on Black Friday! Plus, I continued on my lifelong goal of being drug free and out of my 25 years roaming on this planet I am 25 years sober! Let me cut to the chase! There is this really fabolous chica down the street in Alabama named Erica B. who has this equally fab site where she discusses all these wonderful patterns that she uses to make all the equally fab clothes!

I haven't bobbed, threaded a machine or sewn a pattern in over 10 years when I was taking Home Ec. where I only made an apron, a latch hook rug, and a gaggle of pillows, but I really want to learn to sew again! Therefore, I would really love this:

Singer 1120

I think that this would perfect for getting myself back to sewing! Pretty please, Santa or Daddy or Mommy! While you're at it, throw in some of those lovely McCall patterns!

WEEKEND MUSIC

I am one of three gazillion people who are highly anticipating the release of the movie Dreamgirls, but who have to wait all the way to Christmas. While you wait, I must recommend you pick up the soundtrack to the movie which was released this past Tuesday. If you haven't heard or seen the play, then this will help hype you up more!

I am not really a musical watching person, but this soundtrack is my rotation! The songs that I have programmed to repeat is Jennifer Hudson INCREDIBLE renditions of "I'm Changing" and "I'm Not Going" and also Jamie Foxx and Beyonce's rendition of "When I first saw you". Love them! I bought the double CD set and I have barely cracked the second CD open, but it is definitely a worthy buy, even the single CD set!

Loofah your lips!

I am baracading myself in the warmth that is my apartment, because of the fierce cold winds outside! BRRRR! Anyway, with all that wonderful cold air comes chapped lips. Unfortunately, your favorite chap stick or even Vaseline is not enough to keep your smackers smooth and soft.

I was recently sent a little jar of nothing, but wonderful lip lovliness! Its The Lip Scrub by Sara Happ in brown sugar. Yummy, to say the least! I was actually dealing with a little case of drying and flaking in the lips area of my face. So, this little jar was as good as someone just handing me a $20 bill while walking down the street.

You take a little swipe of the scrub and gently rub across your lips and watch the dry lips disappear and the guys start lining up to taste a little bit of your brown sugar. Well, maybe a line won't form, but your lips will be flake free and smooth!

Before this, I was using the good ol' Vaseline and tooth brush treatment that kept that my lips kiss worthy, but that didn't smell as good as this lip scrub. I definitely want to try the others, especially the Vanilla Bean and Peppermint!

Website reviews let me down!

I am definitely one of those people who read reviews about products on websites before I buy, hence Stained Couture!

Anyway, for the past couple of months I have come up with a new skin regimen that involves make-up remover, toner, moisturizer, and most importantly anti-bacterial soap! Acne is mostly caused my bacteria on your skin, therefore anti-bacterial soap is my friend.

The first soap that I used was the classic Dial gold anit-bacterial soap. I was having very great results and the smooth and clear complexion to boot, but I always see room for improvement in everything. So, I decided to venture out and start testing some anti-bacterial soap that is intended to fight acne! Enter Cuticura Medicated Anti-bacterial Bar Soap.

I read the reviews on Drugstore.com that sounded very promising, especially to African-American skin and I felt that I might have hit the jackpot at first go, but after following the basic instructions for three weeks I realized I was wrong. I saw no difference, if anything it made me realized that the Dial soap was my BFF!

The Cuticura soap left much to be desired. My face didn't feel thoroughly cleansed as much as it had felt in the past and this is after using a make-up remover! I noticed that the acne was coming back stronger and more rapidly than ever. I basically was morphing into my 15 year old self...the horror!! My skin felt a little drier, too! So, I tried to use a gentler toner/astrigent and that didn't help in stopping the dry derma! In the end, I chopped it all up to the Cuticura soap.

For now, the Cuticura is in the medicine cabinet and has been replaced my its predecesor and my skin and I are alot happier. I am, however, considering the trying another anti-bac soap...I just need to find one! I think I should ask my dermatologist and see if he has one to recommend me since he is the one that gave me this wonderful new regimen!
