Dazzling Digits

Yeah, I have been on a major jewelry kick the past couple of months and I have noticed that I my prerequisite for falling in love with a piece of jewelry seems to fit the same guidelines that I use for my handbags; big and bright! Usually I am not the biggest fan of large, overbearing jewelry that is so big that its almost insulting! However, all that has changed this season, because thick, chunky, and bold statement rings are definitely too hot to not want. The bigger the better, baby!

Rachel Leigh's bird, lion, and snake rings(above) have stolen my heart and if a few more dead presidents hit my bank account they could possibly steal some of my rent money. Believe me, I kid, I kid! I like a roof over my head as I dream! Anyway, these rings could make an outfit out of themselves. I am going to have visions of that lion head ring dancing and growling in my head all night!

Like the most of you, I am SO amped for the Sex and the City movie and seeing pics from the set is teasing the crappola out of me! From the looks of these picture of Jennifer Hudosn, Patricia Field is DEFINITELY back, too! Those plaid boots are peaking my interest in scooping a pair of plaid boots for myself!

Seriously have grown on me!!

A few months ago when Christian Louboutin released their $925 Emily bootie, I was not  that thrilled about them. They looked like a slightly modernized shoes for strippers who play nurse or like little bitty 1950s style iceboxes for your feet. Neither scenario is hot. Of course, not long after the Louboutin release, the king of shoe duplication, Steve Madden, came out with his very own version and in a nice awray of colors perfecto for the fall. For some reason, I have really taken a slight stalkerish fascination with the Steven Madden Chap boots and they are definitely on my 'Wish to Seize Soon' list! Unfortunately, its not going to be for sale until October 5, but you can pre-order! Yahoo.

Birthday Bello...Will Smith

Boy, has Will Smith come far from that tall, kind of childish rapper from Philly. Now, he is a multi-grammer winner, two-time Oscar nominee, one of the biggest box office draws, and devoted father and husband. Not to mention, he is aging quite lovely.

By the way, I HAD to throw in a "Fresh Prince" pic.!

How did I ever survive without this stuff!

All weekend I have been nursing a cold that I can't seem to shake. However, for the past month, I have been searching for an inexspensive product to tackle one of my mortal enemies; my super rough left elbow. I have had enough of this fool!  I have been with this mostly crusty son of a gun since I was in elementary school. So, about three months ago I found a pretty fab but pricey solution for it with L'Occitane, but my wallet was tired of having to mini splurge for this stuff.

All that has changed thanks to Burt's Bees new Honey & Shea Butter Body Butter. Seriously, the best friend by elbow has been looking for all her life! It deeply moisturizes and saturates my skin and leaves it super luxurious and soft. Plus, when all is said and done, there is none of that demonic residue that some body butters leave, just a light and perfect scent of honey and shea butter. Not bad for under $10!!

Now, if I can just figure out how to pop my ears, because this fake yawning isn't cutting it!

Who Owns It?...Halle Berry v. Jennifer Lopez

Two of my favorite actresses were seen wearng the same silk geometric Thread Social dress. Jennifer wore the dress earlier this past summer while shopping in Beverly Hills, while Halle was seen wearing it this weekend while at the airport. Which do you prefer, Halle's fall look of pairing the dress with flat tall boots or Jen's chic summer look od simple metallic sandals. Both ladies topped the look with large shades and bags. So...who owns it!!

Birthday Bella...Nicole Richie

Today, Nicole Richie turns 26. In the small amount of years that she has been on this earth, she has been through more than enough personal obstacles that range from horrendous drug addictions, family issues, questionable eating disorders, and a couple of police bookings. However, recently, she seems to be cleaning her life up dastically and that's mostly thanks to her rocker/anti-drug/alcohol abuser boyfriend and the baby they are about to have together.

Just like her life, her fashion choices have hit more than a few bumps on the runway. Thanks to a few stylists and lifestyle changes, she has definitely stepped up her style game. She said goodbye to the hot pinks hair extensions and way too short skirts and dress and has instead polished her style to chic dresses and refined hair and make-up. Let's hope that the worst is behind her and she continues on the healthy and hopefully happy pathway she is on. Happy 26th birthday, Nicole!

SpoonFed Art Pendant Necklaces

I love jewelry! Typical chick, right?! However, what I love more is jewelry that makes a statement and Spoonfed pendant necklaces definitely do that! Spoonfed was started by Karin Collins 3 years ago as therapy for an eating disorder and eventually turned into more than a hobby. Collins started by finding and collecting random, small knicknacks like vintage buttons, tiny statues, and guitar picks, placed them in a spoon and sealed them for eternity using liquid resin.

Wearable pop art, basically, and I love it! These are the epitomy of a great accessory, because you can make an outfit of jeans and a basic white tee look fabolous! SpoonFed pendants are intricate, yet detailed-out fashion statements that can become instant favs in anyone's jewelry wardrobe. If I had the pink champagne one, I would be more than overly thrilled and estatic, because these pendants can really put the fun back into picking jewelry out! Check'em out:

To find out more about SpoonFed pendants and possibly adding one to your wardrobe, then visit their website and browse around the gallery to swoon at the vast and beautiful collection of pendants that are definite conversation pieces.

Buffalo Plaid Soldier

What is Buffalo Plaid, you might be wondering?  Well, buffalo plaid is a boxy black and red plaid that is mostly associated with lumberjacks and the Bounty man. However, buffalo plaid is making its way into many shapes other than the typical men's shirt and other colors than red and black boxes. Here are few examples of how you can get your lumberjack on! Class of Dereon 2008

So, yesterday my sophmore sister Lynn and her senior friend Anna stopped by and jumped on the internet to browse class rings for Anna. While lounging on the loveseat, I decided to browse through Anna's Jostens ring packet that I vaguely remember from my senior year. I was amazed about how thr selections have grown. They now hve staccked rings that I would have loved instead of the chunky ring I had in high school. There are some really cute rings and designs now. Damn innovation. Anyway, all of a sudden I pulled out a colored insert and who and their fashion line logo and little sis in tow plastered all over it...Beyonce. The insert was announcing that you can now have a House of Dereon class ring! What in sequined and rhinestone hell! Seriously!

The Dereon class ring starts at $449.95 and can come in every metal from 10 and 14 karat yellow and white gold to Lustrium and Silver Elite with Platinum.  The good thing about this class ring is that it doesn't look like a typical class ring. You could wear this ring from years to come and it would look just like a regular everyday ring. Why didn't they have options like this when I was in high school. Hmm, I wonder if Baby Phat and Kimora would join in the fun of class rings. I would rock a Baby Phat class ring. Also, if I had these options, I probably would still have both my junior and high school class ring.

PLEASE, don't make it a comeback...Acid Wash Jeans

I am a little torn about this current fashion comeback of stonewash/acid wash jeans, because I wasn't the biggest fan of them when I was la chica del 80s. However, I DID have this adorablw little tiered a-line yellow stone wash denim skirt that I would KILL to not only have again, but fit!! Anyway, I have noticed an increasingly growing crop of these throwback jeans from the 80s everywhere; celebs, magazines, and some of my favorite underground online boutiques (that I might share with you one day)!

Am I alone, but is this one of the 80s fashion staples that should have stayed in the attic along with Hammer pants and lycra biking shorts with the wide neon stripe down the side that BETTER stay hidden for eternity or is there some pausible cause that they could be deemed as...um...cute...or...even hot?

Fashion Week 08: GHITA by Alexis Phifer

Alexis Phifer is more than one-half of one of the music industry 's power couples(her fiance' is Kanye West), but she is also a fabulous up and coming fashion designer. Personally, I was very excited to see items from her line, because in every candid picture I have seen of her I have always admired her chic and elegant style.

This was the first year that GHITA was shown under the big tents of Bryant Park. The clothes were mainly, clean line dresses with a futuristic twist of flourescent plastic details and bold grey and black graphic prints. I would say that GHITA is for the women who doesn't neccesarily dare to be different, but doesn't have a problem with it either!

Fashion Week 08: JustSweet

Jennifer Lopez closed out fashion week with a show displaying her latest line JustSweet. The line justsweet  falls between Lopez's denim and tee line JLO and her higer priced coutured line sweetface. JustSweet collection is that, just sweet! The collection that strutted down the runway was filled with youthful styles of mini dresses, colorful jackets, flirty blouses, and skinny bottoms, but mixed with touches of elegance via sophisticated fabrics and chic details.

With three fashion lines under her wings, Jennifer Lopez is cutting quite a fashion resume' for herself. When questioned about her respect as a designer, she doesn't seem to ponder that label.

"I'm not looking for the credibility," she said. "I'm looking to make clothes every woman can wear."

The JustSweet line is priced from $49 to $99, which is very affordable for all women.

Birthday Bellas...Lola Falana

Today, Loletha(Lola) Elaine Falana turns 65. I'm sure alot of you have heard the name, but have no idea how she is such an iconic woman. She was an actress and dancer who was discovered by Sammy Davis, Jr. while dancing in a nightclub. She got a role in Davis' 1964 Broadway play Golden Boy. After being featured in a handful of movies and television shows and even cutting a disco album, she took her act to Las Vegas with help from Davis. She and her infamous legs played sold out shows all over Vegas and was the highest paid female performer in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately, Falana had to give up dancing after a number of bouts of mutiple sclerosis. She now resides in Las Vegas a continues to give hope and spiritual support thanks to a ministry she founded, The Lambs of God Ministry. Happy 65th birthday, Lola Falana!

Drastic Measures

London's department store Harrods has hired a live Eygptian cobra snake to guard a pair of Rene Caovilla shoes. The venom guarded haute couture shoes are worth 62, 000 pounds($120,000) due to the fact that they are encrusted with rubies, sapphires, and diamonds.

Harrods revealed this extreme dangerous security system yesterday at the launch for their shoe collection.

Don't worry all of you diagnosed with ophidiophobia(look it up), a Harrods spokeswoman revealed that the snake was only there for that day.

"The snake has been returned to its owner," she said.

Unique stunt, dangerous, but definitely unique!

Brownie points for Brownie Points

All summer, I have been lusting to find the perfect brown shade of lip color for my complexion. I have bought almost every shade of brown lip glosses and colors my wallet and I could agree on. All through my search the browns were either too dark or too light, too much gold undertones or enough reflectors and shimmers to guide airplanes on the runway!

Despite the troublesome scavenger hunt I ultimately started, I never gave up! Fortunately, the persistence paid off and for a mere buck!

E.L.F's new Moisture Care Lip Color in Brownie Points is a dream come true for me. The color resembles a milk chocolate shade that looks almost edible and the vanilla scent doesn't help! Anyway, this little tube plumps enough moisture and natural hue of brown to make me swoon to stock up my red and pink cesmetic case with $10 worth...just in case they discountinue it! You never know now a days! PLUS, you can never beat a buck for a lip color that not only looks great but smacks enough moisture on your lips to keep your lips chap free!

Fashion Week 08: Baby Phat

'Pop of Color All Over' seemed to be the theme of Baby Phat's s/s 08 collection. Rich and bold colors of yellows, pinks, and blues were just some of the colors represented on the runway. Everything from the rolled bermuda shorts to the billow dresses and skirts that hardly every reached below the knee was very Baby Phat. One thing that I always expect to see at a Baby Phat show is MAJOR overdoses od rhinestones, glitter, and heavy metals. Fortunately, there was no gaudy overkill!! The only thing bright was the colors themselves. Breathe of fresh air from Baby Phat!

Almost every fashion accessory known to fashion-kind was displyed on the models. The jewelry was usual Kimora; big, glitz, yet didn't take away from the clothes. That's hard to do. The sunglasses were all very modern and somewhat futuristic with the see through lenses and clean line frames. The bag sizes ranged from big to extra large, which I love! Its hard to stay fly with just a little purse! Belts of all sizes and styles. Buckles. Snaps. Skinny. Wide. Leather. One addition to the accessories that I lovedwere the bright, satin scarfs that were worn in a beachy way. Trust me, its a fabulous way to break away from the norm of big, floppy hats.

Yes, Kimora & Co. did a great job of creating a collection of urban glitz and glam!

Fashion Week 08: Tracy Reese

*IMAGES REMOVED FOR SPEED*

The one show that I was anxious to see in person( I ACTUALLY got invited!), but was unable to was the Tracy Reese show! Her collection was filled with breezy, summer infused dresses and prints. Red, bold pinks, and tons of detail of embroidery and ruflfes , which Tracy is known to incorparate in her collections, were definitely in full effect. To help take the attendees to spring, some of the models strutted down the runway twirling parasols that matched the prints of their dress or swimsuit. The collection is definitely Tracy Resse! I should also point out that all the models had grins, which is not common in the stoic atmosphere of fashion runways. Gotta love it!!!

Yes, Pepsi, the soda company, has a small clothing line for men and women that consists of hats, belts, tee, dresses, and even denim! I'm not sure how or who could pull off wearing a dress with a big Pepsi bottle cap on the front. The tees I could DEFINITELY get with and maybe the jeans. What about you? Is it worth it?!...Bobbi Brown Luxe brushes

Its almost a fact that Bobbi Brown makes some of the most fabolous and well crafted make-up brushes. They are uber soft and apply make-up like a dream! However, Miss Brown & Co. have released a collectors edition of 10 luxury brushes that are hand-crafted with 24k accents and ebony handles and comes in a genuine leather case. Sounds fab, but is it worth the $650 price tag?
