Website reviews let me down!

I am definitely one of those people who read reviews about products on websites before I buy, hence Stained Couture!

Anyway, for the past couple of months I have come up with a new skin regimen that involves make-up remover, toner, moisturizer, and most importantly anti-bacterial soap! Acne is mostly caused my bacteria on your skin, therefore anti-bacterial soap is my friend.

The first soap that I used was the classic Dial gold anit-bacterial soap. I was having very great results and the smooth and clear complexion to boot, but I always see room for improvement in everything. So, I decided to venture out and start testing some anti-bacterial soap that is intended to fight acne! Enter Cuticura Medicated Anti-bacterial Bar Soap.

I read the reviews on Drugstore.com that sounded very promising, especially to African-American skin and I felt that I might have hit the jackpot at first go, but after following the basic instructions for three weeks I realized I was wrong. I saw no difference, if anything it made me realized that the Dial soap was my BFF!

The Cuticura soap left much to be desired. My face didn't feel thoroughly cleansed as much as it had felt in the past and this is after using a make-up remover! I noticed that the acne was coming back stronger and more rapidly than ever. I basically was morphing into my 15 year old self...the horror!! My skin felt a little drier, too! So, I tried to use a gentler toner/astrigent and that didn't help in stopping the dry derma! In the end, I chopped it all up to the Cuticura soap.

For now, the Cuticura is in the medicine cabinet and has been replaced my its predecesor and my skin and I are alot happier. I am, however, considering the trying another anti-bac soap...I just need to find one! I think I should ask my dermatologist and see if he has one to recommend me since he is the one that gave me this wonderful new regimen!

Stay Stylish!
