Beauty Wants: Fall 2014

Fall_beauty_wants_2014

Today is the first official day of Fall and I feel like I’ve been waiting for this day for so long. Plus, it actually feels like fall today with the cool weather and dewy grass that I was greeted with this morning while taking my dogs out.

Every season, when the weather changes, your beauty routine and products tend to change as well. Products with more coverage and heavier consistency replace the light and minimal summer hot products.

Here are few items that I’m itching to try this season that includes serums, concealers, and curl controller.

Weekend Beauty Buys: 2 regrets and a decent one

WEEB_09_15_14

I had another weekend in the house thanks to a weekend full of events throughout the city; particularly, around my neighborhood.  Unfortunately, despite the very pleasant weather, I was not in the mood to deal with any the crowds and traffic that comes with such events. However, things eventually died down, which gave me enough time to go wander around some stores. Therefore, here is the latest addition of WEEKEND BEAUTY BUYS!

The first item I picked up was one that I’ve been eying and itching to buy and try and that’s Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel. Every time I would go to Target, I would put it my cart before ultimately putting it back before checkout. I decided that I needed go ahead and do a buy and try. Since buying it, I’ve already used it. I think I’m going to write a review about this. So, look out for that.

The next thing I picked up Maybelline’s Pumped Up Colossal Mascara. All the mascara I had was dried up and needed to land in the nearest garbage can. So, I decided to pick up this up while investigating the makeup aisle at Walgreens. Sidenote: I wish I had naturally thick and long lashes and I needed to do was swipe a couple of clear mascara. Eh..what can you do.

Finally, ELF Eyebrow Kit caught my attention and I decided to buy it. As of this moment, I’m not sold on it, but I think I need to play around with it more. Fingers crossed, because I’ve heard fairly good things about this kit.

Weekend Beauty Buys: Skin. Hair. Lips.

Three day weekends are the best! I hope you’ve had an amazing and relaxing Labor Day weekend. I’ve had a pretty chill weekend lounging on my sofa partaking in a Happy Endings (I still hate that ABC cancelled this show) marathon and grubbing on delicious and unhealthy food. However, I as still able to do a little retail beauty therapy and buy a couple longtime favs and potential new acquaintances.

My skin has been doing great as of recently; smoother skin and less breakouts thanks to my new not-new skincare regimen. However, that is for a later post. Despite the clearer skin, I have been having to deal with some blackheads. Therefore, I picked up a box Biore’ cleansing pore strips, because they have provided great results in the past. So…here’s to hoping that they still work.

First thing first, Fantasia Frizz Buster will definitely go in my time capsule…if I ever need to make one. Eh. Back to this awesome serum that not only tames my thick, curly hair’s frizz, but also acts a great heat protectant. I love this stuff!

I finally found a great daytime moisturizer a couple of weekend purchases ago, buy I’ve been needing an equally great nightime moisturizer. I saw this Night Renewal Cream by Palmer’s. Palmer’s is most notably know for their classic cocoa butter, which I’ve used as a night time moisture in the past to help with fading acne scars while moisturizing. This cream features cocoa butter, plus other awesome ingredients to help restore and rejuvenate your skin over night including retinol, vitamin E, and peptides.

Last, but not least, Labor Day is kinda the unofficial beginning of fall and I’ve been slowly collecting and dusting off things for my fall wardrobe, including makeup. For some reason, I’m really into red and deep berry lip products. I have a few, but I would like to find more, especially a velvety matte one. So, I picked up this lip crayon by NYX called South Ferry Berry. I can’t wait to break this out this week.

I’m lowkey geeked about my recent beauty buys!

  • NYX Lip Pencils $3.49 -These knocked Wet n Wild Pencils off of my favorite drugstore lip pencils. They offer a wide selection of colors, plus it has a high longevity during the day. Week In: Foundations

WIN_foundations_519_525_201

A few months ago, I went through a HUGE challenge to find the perfect foundation. I still haven’t finished this challenge, which has led me to acquire quite the collection of foundations. Therefore, last week, I decided to start using them up, especially the drugstore ones.

Since you don’t really need to use too much foundation, all these bottles are still pretty full, except for the Revlon Colorstay. Revlon Colorstay is the best foundation I use hands down.

So, I’ve been mixing foundations to help achieve different shades and coverage to help rid me of these messy pieces of necessity to my make-up collection. Plus, I vowed to not buy any more foundations until I use these up. So…wish me luck!
