Hydration Heaven

instanatural_main

Pardon my tardiness, but I’ve had the hardest time “plugging” myself back into social media and writing following the holiday unplug. I mean, I do have proper and legit excuses including the flu and a totaling out my car. So, yeah…my 2015 has been crazy!

Like I mentioned, I got the flu at the beginning of the year and I’m just getting the last lingering trace of it out my system.

When you get sick, one of the main side effects is dehydration, especially of your skin and hair. I don’t know about you, but my hair gets broom-straw brittle when I get sick and I obviously don’t have the energy to deal with it while I’m sick. So, usually one of the first things I do post-sick is wash my sheets and deep condition and moisturize my hair. Seriously, it’s a a necessity for me.

The products that helped me battle my dry hair post-flu this time was Instanatural‘s Superior Hydration Argan Oil Hair Mask and 100% Pure Organic Argan Oil.

The mask was everything that I look for in a hair mask: creamy, moisturizing, and aromatic. This mask was an instant hit with my hair, because it soften my tired tresses almost instantly and wasn’t heavy at all. After leaving it on for a 15 minutes, because it’s super penetrating and doesn’t really need much leave-in time, my hair was noticeable softer, smooth, and bouncy.

When it comes to drying my hair, I tend to add a couple of drops of oil to my hair to help it stay hydrated during the drying time, blow-drying or air-drying. So, I decide to add a couple of drops of the pure argan oil to hair for extra oomph, which it did provide. Since it’s pure argan oil, a little goes a long way. I even apply a drop to my hands and massage it on my ends every night and works wonderfully.

FAVORITE CONCEALERS: High Coverage with a Low Price

best_cheap_high_coverage_co

I’m so happy to say that my skin has finally cleared up thanks to my current clean and simple regimen. Now that I’ve conquered that, now I’m working on my dark spots and hyper-pigmentation on my cheek area. So, I’ve been using concealer to deal with those trouble areas to cut back on heavy coverage foundation all over my skin.

There are some really awesome full coverage concealers out there and you can find some of them for less than $10 at your local drugstore. So, here are three of the best high coverage concealers with a low price.

  • NYX HD Concealer Wand – If you are looking for a concealer that’s buildable from medium to full coverage and available in multiple colors, including color correction shades, then this is the concealer you should look into purchasing.
  • Hard Candy Glamoflauge – This is the current high coverage concealer I’m using and it blends easily and is buildable. Plus it comes with a matching concealer pencil for small spot concealing. Only drawback to this concealer is that there are only 3 shades available and the darkest is a light tan.
  • L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD – Now, if you need a full and heavy coverage, but in a darker shade, then this concealer for you. It is also really great for dark circles and it’s available multiple shades.

MORNING MINUTE: Korres Greek Yoghurt Primer

KORRES_yoghurt_primer

One of the reason I love ordering from Sephora is because you can choose to sample certain products or get deluxe samples with your reward points. On my recent purchase, I used some of my points to get a deluxe sample of Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Primer, because I’m always on the hunt for a good primer.

I obviously wasn’t thinking when I picked this primer, because this primer is great for giving your skin a dewy look…which is NOT what I was looking for in a primer at this time. The next time I’m looking to find some products to help give me a dewy look, I’ll know what to get.

However, if you’re looking for a dewy look, here you go!

Clinique Clique 4 Life

5_fav_clinique_products

My freshman year of college is when I first really got into buying makeup and the first brand I knew about and spent money on was Clinique.

Around this time, my mom was pretty much done with wearing makeup other than a cheap and tacky Wet n Wild pink lipstick she would only wear to special occasions and church. NOTE: she didn’t even have a “go-to” color, just any fuschia pink that was cheap.

However, back in her heydays of makeup a.k.a my childhood, the one brand that I remember her buying consistently was Clinique. Those marble seafoam green compacts that were always laying on her dresser and bathroom counter stuck with me over the years. So, if it was good enough for my momma, it must’ve been a keeper.

In the past 15+ years, I’ve bought and used countless products from Clinique. I will admit, that there were a few busts, but way more winners and lifelong favorites. so much so, that if I had to only buy beauty products from one brand for the rest of my life, including skincare it would hands down be from Clinique. More of their products work better with my skin than any other brand.

So, after some deep thinking and backtracking, I’ve accumulated my favorite Clinique products that I’ve ever used…and will forever love.

  • Almost Lipstick in ‘Black Honey’ – Listen. I’m actually getting sick of praising this lipstick, but it will always be my favorite shade and formula for lipstick. Sheer, glossy, and perfect. Just go buy and hoard a few already!
  • Facial Soap – Before there was Proactiv and every other “3 Step” skin care regimen, there was Clinique’s 3 Step System and this is soap is Step 1 and it’s gentle and simple.
  • Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel – The soap was Step 1 and this moisturizer is Step 3 and is my favorite moisturizer ever, especially this gel formula for my oily/combo skin.
  • Blended Face Powder and Brush in Transparency Bronze – Its hard to find a matte powder bronzer, well before you try this one, because this one is amazing. It’s buildable, plus this powder is available in other shades that aren’t bronzers. This powder is lightweight and sets like a dream. Plus, it comes with a retractable brush that’s awesome on its own, because it can hold a single application of powder that you can use later.
  • Superpowder Double Face Makeup – I completely forgot about this powder. It’s a foundation and powder in one compact that provides full coverage. Not only can it be used as a powder foundation, but also as a setting powder for extra coverage. It’s great anyone who just wants and needs one go-to powder.

I will admit that I haven’t tried anything new from Clinique in a while and I saw quite a few new products on their website that I’m itching to try.

The One Product You Need In Your Purse for Winter

eight-hour-cream-600x600

I don’t know about you, but in my neck of the woods, the weather has been super bi-polar. We can get a handful of days with bitter cold temperatures and then the next day we are hit with a couple of back-to-back sunny and cool fall like days that only require a light jacket or hoodie. The struggle to layer has been real.

Well, yesterday (December 21st) marked the first official day of winter. Hopefully, the cold weather will become more consistent…for me at least. Luckily, I already feel pretty prepared for any and all cold weather. I have a nice down filled coat that makes me look and feel like Stay-Puff Marshmallow man, but hey, I don’t think about that while I’m nestled in it while sipping cocoa in my car. Also, I’ve gathered up all my hats, gloves/mittens, scarves, and winter boots from past seasons. FYI – This is why I always buy classic color and styles so I can reuse them every season without looking outdated. So, I’m winter ready in the clothes and accessories department of my closet.

Now, when it comes to the skin department, it can become a little tricky. There are so many products for so many different winter skin problems; dry skin, chapped lips, rough hands and cuticles. Fortunately, I have found out the one item that can conquer all these problems and then some…Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Protectant.

This cream is a low-key cult favorite among beauty editors and beauty fiends all over the world. Aside from aiding and soothing the typical skin problems and issues that cold weather brings, it’s great for smoothing and defining eyebrows, moisturizing cracked feet and callouses, adding a subtle and shiny glow to makeup application, silky smooth legs, and soothes your skin after waxing, shaving and high sun exposure. This list could probably go on for a while, but I’m going to stop here so you go ahead and get you a tube or two. You’re Welcome!
