My 5 FAVORITE Drugstore Hair Products

five_favorite_drugstore_hai

When it comes to makeup and skincare products, I will admit that the majority of my favorite products are department and high end even though I rarely afford them. However, when it comes to my favorite hair care products, the majority of them can be picked up Walgreen’s, Wal-Mart, and Target.

So, I chipped through all my favorite drugstore hair and wigs care products and here are my favorite. This was not an easy task, my friends. I narrowed it down to products that my hair loves, whether I’m wearing it naturally curly, straight, or wavy. Versatility and getting my money’s worth….and great hair.

  • L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray – This is a holy grail hair spray celebrity hair stylists and the everyday woman. It holds all day and in various holds. Plus, I love the scent!
  • TRESemme Dry Shampoo -Aside from the obvious use of refreshing oily/dirty hair and extending an awesome blowout, another use for dry shampoo is to add volume. Therefore, I love  TRESemme dry shampoo. One of the main reason I love TRESemme’s dry shampoo is because they have various formulas, including one for dry and damaged hair that refreshes, volumizes, and adds an extra umph of moisture.
  • ORS Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion -A little goes a long way with this olive oil moisturizing lotion, whether my hair is curly of straight. This moisturizer is very rich and moisturizing, without feeling heavy or greasy.
  • Fantasia Frizz Buster Serum – Here is another product that only takes a small dollop rubbed through my hair to protect my hair from frizz. Also, it’s an amazing heat protectant to use when straighten my hair.
  • OGX Penetrating Oil Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco – In case you missed me introducing this oil here and praising it here, I pretty much a put a drop of this oil in my hair at the beginning of every step of styling my hair; after washing, before drying, after drying, and after heat styling. Ah-mazing!

Make-Up Brushes I Need RIGHT NOW

makeup_brushes_I_Need

For the past couple of months, I’ve been playing around and using more of my make-up, which is what I usually tend to do in the colder months thanks to the decline in heat created sweat and oily skin. PLUS, Ive been trying to use up some items in my makeup collection, which has made me realize that I need some new makeup brushes and brushes that I don’t have at all. However, I’m more concerned with the latter.

Aside from the Shishiedo foundation brush I included in my December 2014 Lust-Have List, here are the other brushes that I feel deep in my heart and makeup boxes that I need to add into my life.

  • Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Brush – All the concealer brushes I have are a built for more coverage, but I need one that can help with small spot concealing and this one by Laura Mercier seems perfect.
  • tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush – I’m a sucker for an airbrush foundation brush, because they give you the most flawless foundation application.
  • Marc Jacobs The Bronze Bronzer Brush – Like I said, airbrush brushes are the ish. So, an airbrush bronzing brush seems like a necessity, especially since my bronze hasn’t really been blending the way I would like to and I blame my current boring bronzing brush.
  • MUFE Precision Powder Brush – I need a new powder brush and this one from Make Up For Ever is super soft and luxe.
  • tarte The Slenderizer Bamboo Contour Brush – I’m always into a good 2-fer and tarte’s Slenderizer brush is duo brush with a airbrush brush on one end, which is good for applying and buffing in foundation and a slanted brush on the other that will make contouring a breeze.
  • NARS Kabuki Ita Brush – This brush from NARS is a holy grail and must-have brush for all make-up enthusiasts. The handle and bristles makes it perfect for contouring and blending.

Is there a brush that you think I’m missing. Please let me know below!

More Empty Products I’ve Used Up

recent_empties_dec2014

I’m so proud of myself, because I’ve been using up products left and right including, makeup, hair care, and skincare products. I will admit that I’m a little torn, because I hate that I had to use up some of these products. Actually, I truly loved all of these products.

I’ve been doing really good on not buying any more foundation and this Lift Blur from L’Oreal was the last foundation I bought a few months ago and I used it up, because this foundation is pretty awesome. However, I probably won’t buy this product again, because $14 is a little too pricey for a drugstore foundation for me. Still, this one is great.

L’Oreal Voluminous mascara is my favorite mascara, drugstore or high end. It does everything that I need it to do and I plan to buy it again. It’s my holy grail mascara.

It has been hard for me to find the “perfect bronzer” for me and my skintone, which has lead me to collect quite a few bronzers in my makeup stash. So, I’ve been trying to use them up and I finally used up my last MAC bronzing powder. This one is a little too shimmery for me, especially for my combo/oily skin. I’m glad I finally got rid of this one.

OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco penetrating oil is almost one my new holy grails, which explains why I used it up so fast, because I used it twice a day, everyday. No matter if my hair was straight or curly. Morning and night and I will be repurchase this one, too.

So, as much I love and finally appreciate my naturally curly hair, my favorite hair style for my hair is large curls that eventually fall throughout the day into deep waves. However, I’m not really a fan into the curling my hair, because it takes too much time to curl my medium long hair. Well, that has changed thanks to this awesome new tool, Kiss Instawave.

Kiss Instawave is a curling wand that allows you to instantly create beautiful, long-lasting curls with just the touch of a button with the KISS InstaWave, a fully automatic tangle-free curler.

  • KISS InstaWave is a fully automatic tangle-free curler that instantly creates beautiful curls
  • Easy for anyone to use, from any angle, with any hand
  • Features a Curl Dial with left/right curl directions
  • Automatically shuts off after 90 minutes
  • 2 heat settings with a low/high switch with maximum temperature of 420

So, you pretty much just turn on the curl, grab a section of hair, place the wand next to the section, press the curl guide to turn the wand right or left, watch the wand curl your hair in mere seconds, and gentle pull the curler down and watch magically beautiful curls form right before your eyes.

This curler is so easy that it only took me 5 minutes to curl all my hair. Five minutes! I can’t wait to play around with this even more for more hairstyles.
