How To Grow Out Your Nails

growingoutmynails

I hate when I break a nail, especially if my nails are in a medium to long length. Not only does my nails feel weird when balling my hands, but they look noticeably uneven. Since I’m borderline obsessed with uniform and even nails, I reluctantly break out my nail clippers and file and even up all my nails.

After all my nails are even up, I break out three little bottles for three steps to prepare myself and my nails for the regrowth process.

  1. After shaping my nails, I apply a layer of Sally Hansen Vitamin E and Cuticle Oil to my nails, cuticles, and skin around my nails. I’ve raved about this product too many times to too many people. This oil is great for moisturizing and soften the cuticle to easy pushing back of the cuticle, if needed. I tend to massage the oil into to each nail and cuticle. You can leave the oil on, but in this process, I wash it off after about 5 minutes.
  2. Once my hands are washed and completely dry, I apply a thin layer of Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps Hardener. I love this stuff! It gives you the look and feel of gel polish without the hassle of removing it by soaking your nails. Plus, it helps strengthen your nails.
  3. When it comes to my polish selection during this process, I opt for nude and sheer polishes about the same shade as my nail bed. I choose these type of shades to not draw people to my short nails and the regrowth. Currently, I’m using Essie’s ‘Sugar Daddy’ polish and 2 coats helps enhance the natural shade of my nails.
  4. Finally, after my polish is dry, I apply one more coat of the Hard As Nails and voila’! I’m usually able to hold and upkeep this with little to no-chipping for 1-2 weeks. Also, 1-2 times a day, I apply massage some of the Vitamin E oil on and around my nails to stimulate healthy nail growth.

This process helps me with strengthening and ultimately growing even, strong, and long nails.

Quick Tips For Better Sleep

4bettersleep_072814

Sleep is one the most valuable things you can afford to give yourself. Without a decent amount of sleep everyday, other key areas in your life (i.e: work, health, relationships) can start to slack. So, here are few tips to help you not only fall asleep, but also a quality night of sleep.

  • NAPPING – A power nap (15-20 minutes)  during the day can allow you to not wake up in groggy mood, because you didn’t fall asleep in one. Naps help rejuvenate you and give you a little more energy, which ultimately helps you fall asleep in a more clam manor.
  • CUT BACK ON CAFFEINE, ALCOHOL, & CIGGS– This is probably one the most obvious reasons that some people don’t have a night of rewarding sleep. Caffeine, alcohol, and cigarettes sound like they should help you relax and fall asleep. However, all of these elements, solo or combined, weaken the quality of your sleep.
  • Turn OFF YOUR PHONE AND TV – One of the first things people reach for when they wake up in the morning is their phone. Initially, its to check the time, but a full notice bar alerting of missed emails. texts, calls, and full energy in Candy Crush and Kim Kardashian: Hollywood can distract you and instantly awake your being, even though your body needs a little more sleep. So, turn off your phone and even leave it out of your bedroom and go old- school and get you a simple alarm clock. Your body will thank you throughout the day.
  • COOL ENVIRONMENT – Sleeping in a cool and calming space helps you fall asleep quickly, calmly, and deeply for the night. It the perfect nightcap.

WEEKEND BEAUTY BUYS: Conceal. Balm. Perfect.

WEBB_8414

Despite the heat, this weekend was pretty descent. It was tax free weekend for clothes, shoes, and some computers here in Tennessee, so my sister and I took a small advantage in this bi-annual opportunity and bought some little pieces here and there. Also, I ate a lot, actually I ate too much, but I’m going to work on that today.

In between combing racks of clothes and stuffing my face, I was able to pick up a few beauty buys. The first thing I bought was NYX full coverage concealer. I only used this once on yesterday, but the coverage is great and it lasted most of the day. So, not a bad buy.

The next thing I picked up was a repurchase of Clinique’s Chubby stick in Woppin Watermelon. This is my go-to balm for a natural pink pout. Plus, these little chubby sticks are so moisturizing! There great.

The last thing I got was a Garnier BB Cream in deep, which is a product that I’ve been meaning to try for so long. So, since it was on clearance for 7o% off at Target and it was the shade I would need, it felt like the perfect $4 beauty score. Plus, everyone needs at least one BB cream in their makeup arsenal.

Weekend Beauty Buys: Mask. Foundation. Polish.

WEBB_72714

Despite the heat, I’ve been upping my daily makeup game. I have to admit that I’ve been very lazy the past couple of months and lagged on putting much, if any emphasis on my appearance, even to work. However, recently in a morning meeting, my boss said 2 word to me that changed that – “Long night?”

Considering that I went to bed super early and had more than 7 hours of deep and calming sleep, all I could do is laugh and play it off as if my boss was right. Instead, I noted to myself that I need to get of out my lazy beauty funk and care about how I look again. The next day, I did a complete 180 and made myself more presentable.

Therefore, I’m starting to buy more beauty and skincare products again, in case you haven’t noticed. This weekend, I picked up a few little items to try. First up is Yes To Tomatoes Acne Facial Mask. I haven’t tried anything from the Yes To Tomatoes line, but I haven’t had a problem with any of the Yes To lines. So, I should be okay with this mask, which is made to help with acne prone skin thanks to lycopene, which is found in tomatoes.

The next thing I bought was L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation, which supposed to help with the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and uneven skin tone. I wore it all this weekend and its been pretty good. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to apply it, because it’s medium to full coverage. Still, I’m loving right now.

The last thing I got was a Wet n Wild polish in Heatwave, which is the perfect deep coral red polish for summer and even fall. The color is opaque and 1-2 coats is more than enough.

So, these were just a few beauty things I picked up this weekend. I’m scared for my wallet this upcoming weekend, because its tax-free weekend here in Tennessee and I get paid on Friday, too. Pray for my bank account.

Charcoal Clean

charcoal_skincare_SC_2014

It’s not a secret that I’ve had skin issues my entire life; acne, large pores, and combo/oily skin. It’s an ongoing issue I’ve always dealt with, but one ingredient in my most recent skincare buys that has been a life and skin changer is charcoal. Charcoal is my skin’s new BFF!

Its been documented that charcoal draws bacteria, oil, chemicals, dirt and other micro-particles to the surface of skin, helping you to achieve a flawless complexion and fight acne. So, its not a surprise that it has been popping up in skincare lines all over.

So, here’s a list of some charcoal infused products for every need that might be worth the try. I’ve tried couple of these and I love them!
