MORNING MINUTE: Dickenson’s Witch Hazel Wipes

dickenson_wh_wipes

In Long Overdue-Why Didn’t They Think Of These Before?-How have I survived without these? news, Dickinson’s, the people behind the original witch hazel introduced their own Dickinson’s on-the-go cleaning towelettes that are pretty amazing as their witch hazel.

The wipes are cleans and tones your face without leaving residue that most wipes tend to do. The only thing it leaves behind is refreshing feel to your skin.

The wipes are individually wrapped and are small and thin enough to through in your purse, clutch, or gym bag for those moments that you need to cleanse and refresh your face. I’m pretty much obsessed with these. I’ve been using one of these every morning instead of facial cleanser and toner. It’s another great 2-fer!

I think I’m going to buy a box to keep in my car for those hot and sticky summer days when all I want to do is dunk my head in a bucket of cool and cleansing water, which is what these wipes feel like on my skin. Obsessed.

WEEKEND AT HOME: Organizing Nail Care Collection

nail_care_organizing_main1

I finally got around to cleaning out and organizing my nail polish and care collection. This is something I’ve been putting off for too long.

polish_drawer+main

Like a lot of people, I’ve hoarded and improperly stored nail polish laying on the side in a bottom drawer of a plastic storage container. Nail polish should be stored straight up, never laying on its side, because it quickens the thickening process speeds up the drying process.

So, I recently got around to sorting and organizing out the mess that I called my nail polish collection and for only $5 thanks to the decorative glass section at The Dollar Store!

First thing I had to do was take out all the polishes and figure out the ones to keep and discard, which was harder than I thought.

lights_clippers_nails

I really loved this ‘Lights’ polish by essie and I’ve been to too many stores looking for this polish to replace it, but I can’t find it. So, I’m probably going to have to order it online. Sidenote: Why do I have 4 nail clippers?! Too many.

After I got the drawer emptied and decided what to save and trash, I separated the polishes into 3 categories: Neutral/Everyday, Bright/Fun Colors, and Glitter/Accent Nail Approved.

polish_cylinders

I put each category in their cylinder vase. I have so many fun/bright colors that a few trickled over into the glitter collection.

I decided to put my cuticle oils, base coats, top coats, clippers and more in this cute glass star-shaped dish. I’m glad I picked the star over the traditional heart-shaped dish. Finally, I put my foot and nail files in the small glass candle holder and voila’….a clearly organized nail care and polish collection.

I’m so glad that I could scratch that off my to-do list.

Blooming Tresses

Flower_head_pieces_2014

Florals are everywhere in fashion as of recent! One of the places they popped up was on the top of runway models heads on the catwalk and eventually fashionistas on the sidewalk. However, not everyone has the “omph” or overall lifestyle to embrace the big floral headpiece.

Don’t let that stop you, because there are plenty of other ways to get into this latest garden party chic trend without looking  like a lost fairy in the city. There are options….

  1. Flower Bunch Headband, $28, TopShop
  2. Garland Bun Rings, $8, TopShop
  3. Eugenia Kim Genie Floral Print Turban Headband, $38, ShopBop.com
  4. Piers Atkinson Silk Orchid Headband, $275, Net-A-Porter
  5. Knotted Rose Headwrap, $3.80, Forever 21

MORNING MINUTE: Boots Expert Anti-Blemish 2 in1 Scrub and Mask

BOOTS_2_1_scrub

I have a love/hate relationship with 2-in-1 products. Usually, one of the uses stands out more than the other. However, there have been times when a 2-fer product has crossed my path and both uses work. Boots’ Expert Anti-blemish 2 in 1 Scrub and Mask is one of those products.

Its a scrub that’s gentle enough to use everyday to help remove dead skin and reduce the appearance of smooth and acne free skin and it’s also a soothing mask that aloe to help in the calming of the skin. Its unscented and hypo-allergenic, which is always a welcoming treatment for my sensitive skin.

tarte Waterproof Mascara

1784

This past 4th of July weekend was great! I had plenty of food, fun, and fireworks with friends and family. However, I also had plenty of allergies and the combination of sweat made it difficult to get through any given day without the inevitable “raccoon eye” from my mascara. It’s too hot for me to indulge in my love of heavy liquid liner, so I have been relying heavily on my mascara to make me and my eyes look a little more awake.

In the past, it was so hard for me to find a good waterproof mascara that could give me fab and full lashes in a waterproof formula, either they did not live up to their waterproof claims or took every ounce of energy, eye makeup remover, and a little olive oil to remove from my lashes. Eventually, I got fed up and just continued with whatever mascara worked for me and my mood and look, despite them not being waterproof.

However, I got fed up again this weekend, but this time with the running mascara look. So, I’m on another mission to find a waterproof mascara that will live up to everything I need and want in a waterproof makeup.

What do I look for in a mascara, you ask? Well, I want a mascara that gives me, or at least the illusion of, thick, long, and lush looking lashes and preferably in waterproof formula. Pretty much the bombshell look without the need of fake lashes, because my sensitive eyes have never been a fan of fake eyelashes and plus they are just not that realistic for my everyday life.

The first mascara on my list to try is tarte cosmetics Lights, Camera, Splashes 4 – 1 (lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning) waterproof mascara, which gives the appearance of lash volume after applying and giving dramatic, thick and sexy lashes and guaranteed to stay put through rain, sweat or tears.

I must admit that I have the original, non-waterproof version of this mascara and it is everything! So, finding out that tarte has a new waterproof version just made my Monday that much better. This mascara mission might have ended before it even started.
