MORNING MINUTE: OGX Penetrating Oil Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco

OGX_argan_oil

Here in Memphis, it’s been raining everyday for the past week and today is the first day in a while in which I didn’t have to ponder wearing rain boots AND I didn’t have to put my hair in a high bun. One product that my hair has been loving, rain or shine, is OGX’s Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco.

A small drop of this rubbed in your hands will instantly refresh your hair; natural, chemical, straight or curly. It instantly penetrates your hair to moisturize and strengthen your hair while making it soft and refreshed.

I tend to rub a small drop in my hands and massage it through my hair and put my hair in a bun at night to let the oil do what it does OR apply the same small amount in my hair as soon as I wash my hair and let it air dry before I flat iron my hair. Plus, I apply a little as a finisher after my hair as been styled. Needless to say, I get my money’s worth with this bottle, as will you.

RECENT EMPTIES: Some of My Favs

RE_fava

Since I’m in the middle of a personal purge of makeup and beauty products before I buy anything new that beauty/makeup related that I don’t need, it’s no wonder that I’m going through products left and right. However, in this latest edition, the majority of these products are going to be replaced, because I love them and they seem to love me back in the way they play their role.

  • Fantasia Frizz Buster – This is the best frizz tamer I’ve used! It’s a little heavy, but it’s one of the only products that I’ve used that can tame the frizz in my hair, when it’s straight or naturally curly. This is definitely product that need to be repurchased to help combat this humid southern weather.
  • M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer – I’ve said it before, but M.A.C foundations and most concealers just don’t do it for me, becasue they cause me to break out thanks to the fragrance they add to most of their skin makeup products and you can add this concealer from their Pro Longwear to the list. The coverage is great and it stays on for the majority of the day, but I don’t like the pump and, quite frankly, I’ve found the same coverage and longevity with plenty of other concealers, mostly drugstore, for a huge fraction of the cost for this $19 concealer.
  • China Glaze polish in Rich & Famous – I love this polish! Its the perfect soft fuschia that works in every season and I’m not ashamed to admit that I buy these in twos.
  • Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara – I used this to tame and/or set my brows. A personal forever fave!
  • Revlon Colorstay Foundation – I can’t live without this foundation in my makeup collection. The coverage is amazing! The longevity is amazing!
  • Maybelline Coverstick – I accidentally bought one that was about 2 shades too light. So, I ended up using it as an undereye concealer and it worked out perfectly. I would consider buying this again.

Pantene’s “Not Sorry” Campaign

There is this semi-underground movement going on to empower women that is not getting the full exposure that it should. I feel that is started early last year with Sheryl Sandburg’s Lean In book and quiet movement to help empower women in their work environment and was carried on this year with the hashtag friendly #ImABoss and #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso.

Women are strong and confident, but sometimes we can be seen as timid and too apologetic for choices we consciously make.I know there have been plenty of times which I apologized my actions and/or words making someone else feel some type of way for no warranted reason. I’ve learned to digress from that and stay true to me, because I value my opinions and decisions and unless it physically or mentally affects someone else, then I don’t care. Your emotions, your problem.

So, Pantene is the latest entity to join this “empowering women” with their “Not Sorry” campaign and accompanying #ShineStrong hashtag. They are aiming women to not apologize and weaken their strength.

Summer Products to Try

summer_products_try_2014

Less is more, especially when it comes to beauty products and the summer. It is too hot to wear too much makeup and hair products. Just greasy. So, here are some products I plan to use this summer to give the impression that I live an effortless and fun life of sun, beach, and smooth skin.

  • RoC Retinol Corrrexion Max Wrinkle Resurfacing System – I don’t have wrinkles…yet. However, I’ve always been a firm believer that it’s best to beat them to the punch. I’ve heard amazing things about this kit from RoC and plus it has retinol, which is all my skin has been asking about.
  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer – One of the best moisturizers for oily skin. If you have oily skin, despite what you think, skipping your moisturizer is not the answer…ever. The answer is to find a gel moisturizer. It melts into your skin and help mattify the oiliness. The best gel moisturizer I’ve ever used and abused is the gel formula for Clinique’s iconic Dramatically Different moisturizer. It’s everything.
  • BAMBOO BEACH Summer Ocean Wave Tousled Hair Texture Spray – Beach hair is the best hair. In the summer, I really cut back on heat styling tools and this year will be no different, especially since I’ve dyed my hair red. I have naturally curly hair, but I swoon for wavy beach hair. So, I will only flat iron my hair on every other wash day and then use texture spray to create a tousled, beachy hair look.

Makeup Bag Dwellers

WIMB_makeup

There are just some products that never leave my makeup bag and the majority of them are lip products, because I’m a firm believer that a good, strong lip can polish off a simple outfit and bare face. So, here are the products that reside in my makeup bag.

  • L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara – This is not my daily mascara, but this is one that I can add to whatever mascara du’ jour or a great option for those more than frequent days that I forget to apply mascara.
  • L’Oreal Lineur Intense Brush Liquid Liner – Best. Liquid. Liner. EVER! Love it.
  • Vera Wang Signature Perfume – This is a small purse-size bottle of Vera Wang first perfume that I’ve literally had for about 10 years…no lie. Its a thicker, gel like that packs a punch with one little dab behind the ears and wrist and it smells so good and sophisticated.
  • Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color in Just Peachy – This is soft and simple lip color to add on days when I want a soft lip of to soften a dark lip. Looks great against a tan face.
  • Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate – This sat in my lippie collection for so long before I tried it and fell in love with it. It not only moisturizes your lips, but gives it a simple and sheer coral hue.
  • NYC 16 Hour Lip Stain – A deep matte pink lip is my fav look. Red can be too much, so this is my alternative and one of the best ways for me is to use a lipstains and this one lasts practically all day while at work.
  • NYX Wonder Pencil – This pencil is definitely a wonder pencil. Its a concealer, liner, and brightener. It has come in super handy when I need to brighten and appear to be more awaken by lining my waterline. It’s awesome.
  • NYX Lip Pencil in Bloom – Just another deep pink lip product. FYI – NYX makes great and super affordable lip pencils.
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind The Perfector Powder – I love Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind line, especially their undereye concealer. However, this pressed powder has a built in primer which help smooth your skin and give it youthful glow.

So, there are the things that live in my makeup on the daily.
