You might recall me mentioning that I recently experienced and unexplained breakout. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been introducing my skin to a few new products with new ingredients. So, in order for me to narrow down the cause, I had to stop using everything. When I experience a bad a breakout, I streamline my skincare regimen to basic products, especially cleanser. Hence, the need for a gentle cleanser lead me to a product I hadn’t used since college; Neutrogena Facial Bar.

Affordable Dark Spot Correctors
I feel like I’ve dealt with almost every skin related issue out there, including oily skin, dry skin, large pores, and acne, which caused me to have to deal with dark spots. Dark spots, otherwise known as hyperpigmentation, is caused by many things including sun damage and acne scarring. Personally, I can attribute my dark spot issues to acne and my idiotic tendency to pick at them when I was younger. Okay, maybe I did a little picking in my adulthood, but I’m done with that. I’m a changed woman!
Back to dark spots. Over the years, I’ve tried and used different treatments and products to get rid of dark spots, or at least lighten them. Unfortunately, most dark spot treatments can be a little pricey, but luckily there are some very affordable ones out there that you can get from your favorite drugstore.
If you looking for an effective and affordable dark spot correctors to help you battle your dark spots, check out these options.
LAZY GIRL BEAUTY: Cleansing Sticks
I’m a firm believer in washing my face before bed, even on days when I wear no makeup at all. However, for those makeup-free days, it feels so unnecessary to go through all those steps as the days when I go full coverage. Therefore, I was super happy to learn about cleansing sticks; the lazy girl’s new favorite skincare product.
Okay, maybe they aren’t super new, because I first heard about a cleansing stick back in early Spring. However, since then, more options have popped up all over the place. Not only are there more options, but different ones to fit different skincare and lifestyle needs.
The great thing about cleansing sticks is that they are designed to used to clean your face when you don’t have to the luxury to clean your face at-home. Cleansing sticks are convenient to use and travel-friendly. Toss one in your suitcase for your next vacation, purse to refresh your skin on makeup-free days, or gym bag to clean your face after a sweaty workout. It appears that you use most of them the same way; wet your hands/or face, rub the stick across your face, massage it on your skin, and rinse. Pretty quick and easy.
Here are some cleansing sticks for you to ponder adding to your makeup bag.
Aging Gracefully Skincare Regimen
I have a confession. Up until a few months ago, I wasn’t respecting my skin. Pretty much neglecting it and giving it the bare minimum with the occasional treat of a face mask or sheet mask 1-2 times a month, if that. A few months ago, I caught a glimpse of my skin while strolling down the aisle of mirrors at Target. Even though that glimpse was brief, I was still able to notice how dull, dark, and loose my skin looked. Therefore, I knew I had to rework my regular skincare to load it with more anti-aging products. I have affectionately called this my aging gracefully skincare regimen.
Beauty Uses for Petroleum Jelly
Growing up, petroleum jelly was a staple in every medicine cabinet and a top of every dresser in my house and probably yours, as well. Aside from using it as an aid for minor scraps and cuts, my parents would slather that thick and heavy product over our bodies to remove any sign of dry, ashy skin. After shower Vaseline rub down will always hold a place in my memory bank. Despite the heaviness and super glossy look, it was an effective at making sure our skin wasn’t dry.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been experiencing some intense dry areas; mainly on my feet. The heels of my feet have been dry and I feel like I’ve tried every cream, oil, and treatment in my house to no avail. Even a pedicure didn’t help. I was super confused on what could I use to help get rid of these cracked heels so I can wear my sandals with confidence. Somehow my mind dragged me back to my childhood and all those post-bath Vaseline rubdowns my mom would give me to combat dry skin all over my body, including my feet. So, I decided to take a chance and try some old-school petroleum jelly to help cure my current day cracked heels and I’m so glad I did.
