Oily Winter Skin

face_oils_winter_2014

Whew, the annual arctic blast finally hit my neck of the woods yesterday morning. Brr. My coat wasn’t the only thing I reached for as soon as the cold wind hit my face.  I also grabbed all the oils and heavy creams in my house to help crack through my quickly drying skin.

In skincare, most people think of oils for just moisturizing extremely dry skin, but that’s not the case anymore. Skin oils have multiple uses including cleansing, anti-aging, and purifying. So, I’m looking to add some more oils into my growing skincare regimen and I found more than a few that peaked my interest and potentially my wallet. Check them out below!

  • Caudalie Overnight Detox Oil – Your skin rejuvenates better overnight and this oil will help replenish and protect your skin while you sleep.
  • Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel – This cleansing oil is perfect for all skin types and deep cleanses while protecting your natural moisture levels. So, this is for all you beginners out there.
  • Dr. Dennis Gross Active Vitamin D Serum-Oil – An overnight serum that acts as an acne medication to clear blackheads and pores, which are 2 are my skin’s nemesis. Also, this serum-oil also absorbs excessive oil. Oil on oil crime…done right!
  • Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil – I’m becoming a huge fan of Ole Henriksen skincare products and I might go broke, but this oil is definitely on my to-buy list the next time I find myself walking into a Sephora, because it is packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and other skin nourishing ingredients to help brighten, repair, and protect your skin. I’m sold.

A Blissful Facial…In A Box

I’m a huge fan of facials! They are one of my necessary life luxuries. Unfortunately, I don’t have the option to get them as much as I would like due to time and/or finances. I mean decent facial, depending on your location, can start at $50 a pop and multiple that by 2-3 a month. That can be lot and don’t throw in those extra treatments that feel so good on your skin, but hurts your wallet so bad.

So, if you like me and love facials, but don’t like the price of bi-weekly facials, let me introduce you to bliss Triple Oxygen Facial In A Box. I bought this a couple of weeks ago and did not regret it, because it is awesome.

The 3-Step at-home facial contains a brighten mask resurfacing peel, and treatment to help nourish your skin. Plus, the kit contains enough product for 2 facials and all for $12!  A fab facial…at home…for 6 bucks a pop? Can’t beat that!

Night Creams I Want AND Need To Try

night_creams_to_try

For the past couple of months, I had a nighttime routine that was working pretty good up until recently. A few weeks ago, I noticed my skin was starting to look dull and not as supple as it used to in the morning. I believe that the change in weather has caused my skin to need more overnight moisture that my current night cream by Palmers just couldn’t do anymore.

Therefore, I’m on the hunt for a new night cream. So, after creeping online, reading reviews, and watching testimonials on Youtube; I have concocted a list of night creams that have peaked my interest to not only moisturize my skin, but also help prevent aging and blemish fading. Like I said, options are a girl’s true best friend!

You Should Buy This Scrub

Sometimes, when something is too good, why beat around the bush? Seriously, this walnut complexion scrub by Ole Henriksen is the truth. This scrub has the perfect amount of exfoliate power without it being to harsh on the skin. It leaves your skin soft and supple and your complexion clean and clear, Not to mention, the smell is borderline obsessive.

One thing that I really love about this scrub compared to other scrubs I’ve used in the past is the foaming action. I don’t know about ya’ll, but a love a good foaming product, It feels like all the impurities in your skin is just gliding away.

Anyway, a seriously long golf clap goes to Ole Henriksen and this awesome scrub.

Best Toners For Every Skin Type

Best_toners_2014_stainedcou

Aside from moisturizing, my favorite step in my face washing process is toning my skin. People tend to overlook the importance of having a toner in their skin care regimen. Typically, toners are used to calm your skin down after cleansing and/or exfoliation and prep it for your serums and moisturizers. However, most toners offer other benefits other than calmness.

In my 30+ plus years on this planet, I’ve had the pleasure to use quite a few toners. Some have been ridiculously amazing and some have been the equivalent of dirty toilet water that broke my skin out for weeks (Hello, Sea Breeze!) and added to my personal “Never Buy Again” list.

Luckily, I’ve had way more hits than misses and I’ve concocted a list of some of my favorite toners I’ve ever used and borderline abused. Maybe, your dream toner is below, waiting for you to try it!

  • fresh Rose Floral Toner – This is perfect for those of you blessed with normal skin who would just like to add a calming and revitalizing toner after cleansing your skin
  • Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer – All my oily/acne prone peeps, this is the toner for you. Perricone MDs is very potent and helps minimize enlarged pores, smooths skin, and gently exfoliates without drying the skin. This is a holy grail for my super oily summertime skin.
  • Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 – If could only use one toner for the rest of my life, Clinique’s toner in formula 2 would get my coins for my eternity, because of it’s gentleness, refreshing feel , and refining my pores for a clear complexion.
  • Lancome Tonique Confort Rehydrating Toner – People with dry skin tend to be the main culprits when it comes to skipping toners, because they feel it dries their skin even more. Actually, there are toners that help tone, calm, and hydrate your skin and Lancome makes one of the best rehydrating toners to give the softest and smoothest skin. Plus, it smells devine.
  • SK-II Facial Treatment Essence – The most luxurious toner that will tone, exfoliate, moisturize refreshes, and smooths your skin. Its pricey, but it’s the queen bee’s knees!
