Grammys 2014: SC’s Favorites

Last night’s Grammy awards were, for the most part, entertaining thanks to great performances by Beyonce and Jay-Z, Daft Punk, and Imagine Dragons x Kendrick Lamar ( I need to download that MP3!) However, here at Stained Couture, we like to obsess over the menial a.k.a red carpet fashions.

There were quite a few looks that we enjoyed over here.

First off, creams and sheers were a big hit including Beyonce in a custom Michael Costello gown, Katy Perry in a musical chiffon dream Valentino dress, and Paris Hilton in a cream dream House of Milani dress.

The red fire hot theme was sprinkled throughout thanks to Pink’s Johanna Johnson red dress, Guiliana Rancic orange-red Alex Perry full-length halter gown, and the classic elegance that is Gloria Estefan in Gustavo Cadile.

There were a couple of unexpected looks that caught my eye. Zendaya looked fresh and youthful in a Emanuel Ungaro billowy floor length gown with a slit that showed her amazingly long and lean legs. Christte Michele’s colorful power suit wasn’t a favorite to many, but I loved it, especially on her. It was very edgey and appropriate for her and the night/event.

However, all my favorite looks from the night seemed to be the glitzy and embellished gowns. Chrissy Tiegen had my favorite look last night (and moment thanks to that seranade her husband, John Legend, performed *tears*) in a strapless Johanna Johnson gown that was so epic. The hair, makeup, and overall fabness just nailed it completely. Not to mention, she is my latest BFF in my head thanks to her personality. Go follow her on Twitter and Instagram and prepare to want her to be your best friend. Taylor Swift in that mesh Gucci gown was perfection on her and the hair and makeup made it look very age appropriate for a 22 year old. Ciara in custom Pucci for her and growing baby bump was chic and complementary to that blonde bob that’s working great on her.

The Year in Fashion: Glam Edition

As with every year, 2013 made for some interesting fashion choices by the rich and famous, or maybe in this case infamous.  From Miley’s teddy bear jumper, Lady Gaga’s Ariel moments with her seashell bras, to the glamorous red carpet stunners; we saw an array of fashion that will certainly leave an impression for years to come. In this two part installment of the 2013 fashion wrap-up, we’ll highlight some of our favorite red-carpet looks!

At this year’s Emmy’s, Malin Akerman opted for a Marchesa gown, which could have doubled as a wedding dress, was a drop-waist gown with amazing texture-details at the bottom, a perfect combination of simple and eye-catching.

Kerry Washington also donned a Marchesa gown for the same event.  Hers was a muted pink/cream empire gown beautiful rose appliques. The gown was so intricate and delicate making her one of the night’s biggest stand-outs.

Another hit from this year’s red carpet was Jennifer Lawrence, who not only made a statement in her Dior Haute Couture gown at the Academy Awards, but proved to the world that is one of the most down-to-earth humans in Hollywood.

Another belle of the ball was Hayden Panettiere at the Golden Globes wearing a soft-pink Roberto Cavalli mermaid gown with a textured bottom. The soft, textured gowns of the 2013 made a major statement this year.

Halle Berry, though, can make a statement that’s not a part of a trend, and she did in this show-stopping one-shoulder Versace number that slightly shows off her belly, and of course put her entire right leg on display!

Up next, another soft and textured number for you to feast your eyes on, this time courtesy of Marchesa, worn by Amy Adams at the Golden Globes.  This form fitted, understated gown comes together at the bottom with the tulle layering that makes for a classic look. Adams topped it off with some 1950s inspired curls, which tied everything together.

Lastly, Rihanna was ever the lady in red in Alaia at the Grammy’s.  This look is so demure for the singer and would love to see her dressed like this more often.  It doesn’t stray too far from her style, as it is super-form fitting and a bit see-through.  The red lip really glams it up!

Kourtney & Kim Take New York…while keeping warm!

This Sunday is the series premiere of Kourtney & Kim Take New York which follows the celebutants/fashionistas as they try to open up their first Dash store in NYC while dealing with business and personal issues along the way.

However, despite the stressful situation, they never seem to let it affect their style, because they stayed decked out in some of the hottest fashions for cold weather.

Keep reading to take notes on how Kourtney and Kim took New York in style!

Scarves are winter staples. That’s a give, but there are so many styles and sizes available. Kourt and Kim seem to fancy the long and layering ones, as do I.  They are versatile and are often lightweight enough to carry you from fall to early spring.

Unlike the layering scarves, I’m not into the next winter staple that Kourt and Kim indulged in while in NYC…fur. They were each seen rocking some luxe fur jacket or coat. Kim loves her furs!

Leopard print can be worn all year round, but there is something about winter that just screams “Bring on the leopard print!” As you can see, Kim just wanted a pop of print and decided to do that with some wedge booties. However, Miss Kourtney kind of went all out by donning a plush leopard fur coat. FYI, the lady with 3 different leopard print accessories walking behind them is their hairstylist. Maybe, she influenced them that day!

Every fashionista needs that one winter coat look that is classic and can top any casual or fancy outfit. Kim and Kourt seem to both take a liking to the classic and structured knee length coats, thigh high suede boots, and beanie berets. I must say, that this is my favorite winter top coat look.
