LUST-HAVE LIST: January 2015

LHL_jan2015

January is speeding by and I’m happy about that, because my 2015 got off to a really bumpy start including the flu and totaling my car and having to go buy another one this past weekend.

So, after having to take an extra week off to deal with…life, for a lack of better words, I’m back with my January 2015 Lust-Have List.

This month, I’m really into classic pieces with trendy detail, be it a clean shape with bright color or traditional style with an edgy feel. Check it out below.

  • Ray ban Oversize Clubmaster Shades – I’ve been lusting for these shades for the past few months and I think I’m going to go ahead and buy them this month. yolo.
  • Cover FX Illuminating Primer – The hunt for an awesome primer is ever going and this new illuminating one from Cover FX seems like a great contender.
  • Layered Tassel Necklace – I think I’m entering my jewelry phase, because I’ve been wearing more jewelry other than my watch again and I realize I need more long, dainty necklaces. I love the small tassels on this one from Forever 21.
  • Saffiano Satchel – A classic shoulder bag in a bright mustard bag is nice unexpected piece in the winter. It looks great paired with all the colors of winter; red, green, and even blue.
  • Cut-out Buckled Tan Leather Booties – Not only do love the style of this bootie, but the soft grey, tan color is nice finish up winter and carry you right into spring.

FAVORITE CONCEALERS: High Coverage with a Low Price

I’m so happy to say that my skin has finally cleared up thanks to my current clean and simple regimen. Now that I’ve conquered that, now I’m working on my dark spots and hyper-pigmentation on my cheek area. So, I’ve been using concealer to deal with those trouble areas to cut back on heavy coverage foundation all over my skin.

There are some really awesome full coverage concealers out there and you can find some of them for less than $10 at your local drugstore. So, here are three of the best high coverage concealers with a low price.

  • NYX HD Concealer Wand – If you are looking for a concealer that’s buildable from medium to full coverage and available in multiple colors, including color correction shades, then this is the concealer you should look into purchasing.
  • Hard Candy Glamoflauge – This is the current high coverage concealer I’m using and it blends easily and is buildable. Plus it comes with a matching concealer pencil for small spot concealing. Only drawback to this concealer is that there are only 3 shades available and the darkest is a light tan.
  • L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD – Now, if you need a full and heavy coverage, but in a darker shade, then this concealer for you. It is also really great for dark circles and it’s available multiple shades.

The One Product You Need In Your Purse for Winter

eight-hour-cream-600x600

I don’t know about you, but in my neck of the woods, the weather has been super bi-polar. We can get a handful of days with bitter cold temperatures and then the next day we are hit with a couple of back-to-back sunny and cool fall like days that only require a light jacket or hoodie. The struggle to layer has been real.

Well, yesterday (December 21st) marked the first official day of winter. Hopefully, the cold weather will become more consistent…for me at least. Luckily, I already feel pretty prepared for any and all cold weather. I have a nice down filled coat that makes me look and feel like Stay-Puff Marshmallow man, but hey, I don’t think about that while I’m nestled in it while sipping cocoa in my car. Also, I’ve gathered up all my hats, gloves/mittens, scarves, and winter boots from past seasons. FYI – This is why I always buy classic color and styles so I can reuse them every season without looking outdated. So, I’m winter ready in the clothes and accessories department of my closet.

Now, when it comes to the skin department, it can become a little tricky. There are so many products for so many different winter skin problems; dry skin, chapped lips, rough hands and cuticles. Fortunately, I have found out the one item that can conquer all these problems and then some…Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Protectant.

This cream is a low-key cult favorite among beauty editors and beauty fiends all over the world. Aside from aiding and soothing the typical skin problems and issues that cold weather brings, it’s great for smoothing and defining eyebrows, moisturizing cracked feet and callouses, adding a subtle and shiny glow to makeup application, silky smooth legs, and soothes your skin after waxing, shaving and high sun exposure. This list could probably go on for a while, but I’m going to stop here so you go ahead and get you a tube or two. You’re Welcome!

My 5 FAVORITE Drugstore Hair Products

five_favorite_drugstore_hai

When it comes to makeup and skincare products, I will admit that the majority of my favorite products are department and high end even though I rarely afford them. However, when it comes to my favorite hair care products, the majority of them can be picked up Walgreen’s, Wal-Mart, and Target.

So, I chipped through all my favorite drugstore hair and wigs care products and here are my favorite. This was not an easy task, my friends. I narrowed it down to products that my hair loves, whether I’m wearing it naturally curly, straight, or wavy. Versatility and getting my money’s worth….and great hair.

  • L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray – This is a holy grail hair spray celebrity hair stylists and the everyday woman. It holds all day and in various holds. Plus, I love the scent!
  • TRESemme Dry Shampoo -Aside from the obvious use of refreshing oily/dirty hair and extending an awesome blowout, another use for dry shampoo is to add volume. Therefore, I love  TRESemme dry shampoo. One of the main reason I love TRESemme’s dry shampoo is because they have various formulas, including one for dry and damaged hair that refreshes, volumizes, and adds an extra umph of moisture.
  • ORS Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion -A little goes a long way with this olive oil moisturizing lotion, whether my hair is curly of straight. This moisturizer is very rich and moisturizing, without feeling heavy or greasy.
  • Fantasia Frizz Buster Serum – Here is another product that only takes a small dollop rubbed through my hair to protect my hair from frizz. Also, it’s an amazing heat protectant to use when straighten my hair.
  • OGX Penetrating Oil Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco – In case you missed me introducing this oil here and praising it here, I pretty much a put a drop of this oil in my hair at the beginning of every step of styling my hair; after washing, before drying, after drying, and after heat styling. Ah-mazing!
