Link-End Round-Up: February 26, 2016

link-end round-up February 26, 2016

Link-End Round-Up time!

One word I can use to describe this past week? “Ugh.”

I’ve had quite the roller coaster of a week. I will admit, that it started off pretty well.

Monday was amazing, because I was super productive, filled with motivation to do so much, and accomplished quite a bit…for a Monday. Plus, I had sushi for lunch that day. So, I can say it was a pretty good day.

Tuesday? *deep grunt*

Well, I had a my new sofa (yay!) scheduled to get delivered that day. So, I woke up a little earlier than usual to carry push the old love seat to the curb. It wasn’t too cold outside and I got in a quick, but intense level of cardio and strength training. Triple win. However, while on my way to work, I was pulled over for speeding…and got ticket. I was super annoyed at myself and even more annoyed when I logged online to see check the price of the ticket and found out that I never paid I ticket I got back in 2013. The payment for the ticket swelled up to over $200! *insert angry emoji*

Since I am person of optimism and thrive on looking for silver linings and counting my blessings, I focused my energy on being thankful that the ticket was for only go 5 miles over the speed limit when I was actually going almost 15 miles over. Plus, I got pulled over less than 20 feet from a school, which means I was less than 20 feet away from a mandatory court date. So, no court date, no high fine ticket and/or arrest for that almost 3 year old outstanding ticket. All of that is silver lining to me.

This week was filled with rainy days, stress, anxiety, and “Aunt Flo” coming into town, which softly caused me to fall off my healthier lifestyle kick.

I think I’m going to spend this weekend cuddled up on my new sofa, juicing, and catching up on my personal Must-See TV on my DVR.

In the meantime, please enjoy these links to reads that peaked my interest and helped distract me from the mess that was my life this week.

Link-End Round-Up: February 19, 2016

Before I get to this week’s Link-End Round-Up, I just have to say that the weather has been perfect in my area the last couple of days! Sunny skies and warmer than usual temperature just makes me more excited for spring to finally arrive. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve already bought a few pair of spring worthy shoes in anticipation.

However, this Memphis weather is notoriously bi-polar (as with most parts of the US) and it can be sunny this weekend and wake up to snow 3 days later. It’s happened before…unfortunately.

Any plans for this weekend?

When people ask me any upcoming plans for the weekend, I usually respond with “Not really”, because in that immediate moment, it feels true. I will admit, that it’s been a minute since I’ve spent an entire weekend at home. However, if someone asks me that question today, “Not really” will be correct.

For the life of me, I can’t think of any concrete plans I have for this weekend and to be honest, I’m okay with it. The past few weekends, I’ve been running all around the city doing random things. However, this weekend, I think I’m going to use my time wisely and start on my spring cleaning. I have so much stuff in my spare bedroom that needs to GO! Purge City.

Well, I guess I do have plans after all this weekend. 🙂

Here are some worthy links that I enjoyed this week and hope you enjoy them, too.

Link-End Round-Up

Another Friday and another Link-End Round-Up!

This week went by fast, well it feels like it to me. Although, I was still overwhelmed with a a lot of work-related stuff, I found was to help calm me and stressed-induced increase of my blood pressure. One thing I did was bring a book that was just easy to read, but also funny. Laughing is one of the best remedies for stress. The book I chose was Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, which she released and I bought years ago. However, I never finished it, as usual.

So, whenever I need a break from staring at the computer screen while typing manic-like, I take a quick 5 minute breather by reading a chapter from the book. This quick technique has helped me immensely this week.

I only have one mission this weekend: Buy a new sofa! My current sofa is very outdated and not in that retro chic vibe. No, girl, this is just old looking in all in all it’s dingy tan glory. So, hopefully, I will be moving that one to the curb (literally!) and replacing it with a newer and cuter sofa. I would love to get a bright colored or velvet sofa, but I’m not sure how well my sister would like it or more importantly just how long I will like it. I change my mind a lot, because well…ovaries!

In the meantime, here are some things and reads that rocked my world this week. Enjoy!

TGIF! Everytime I read, hear, or say “TGIF”, I instantly get taken back to my childhood of waiting for 7 p.m. to hit and my family and I plopping down to watch ABC’s Friday night line-up. Awesome memories. Speaking of awesomeness, here is this week’s Link-End Round-Up!

This past week, I’ve been all over the place; mentally, emotionally, and physically. So much so, that by this past Wednesday, I knew that I was going to spend this upcoming weekend on P & C mode a.k.a Pamper and Chill Mode. Please feel free to use that mode whenever possible. I highly encourage it

Yes, I’ve already schedule a facial and made plans with my sister to have a Saturday afternoon of pedicures, shopping here and there, and lunch, of course. The possibilities are endless as long as they are stress free. Stress free is definitely the vibe I’m going for this weekend…and the Panthers!

Yes, I almost forgot that this weekend is Superbowl Sunday! I guess I’m going to have to graze of veggies like a cow today and tomorrow, because I plan to hit the chicken wing tray…HARD! #NoShame

Here’s some reads that enjoyed this week! I hope you find some interest in them as well as have a great weekend.

LUST-HAVE LIST: February 2016

lust-have-list-feb-2016

Welcome, to February 2016 Lust-Have List!

I’m so happy to see February, because January was a very trying month for me in all spectrums of my life. However, I’ve entered this month with positivity and optimism, which is all you really need to do when you enter any moment in your life.

So far, this winter has been pretty blah. This weekend, we experienced a mostly sunny Saturday with a highs in the uppers 60s….in January. We barely got a dusting of snow even though we were expecting at least half a foot of snow. It was sad layer that was gone before noon. However, winter isn’t over, yet. So, we might have another chance of snow, before spring weather officially arrives.

Speaking of spring, I can’t wait! All the retailers are starting to put their winter stuff on clearance (FYI – go hit them clearance racks) and I’m already started to stalk a few spring perfect pieces for my wardrobe. I might’ve shared a couple in this month’s LHL.

Check out the Lust-Have List for February 2016!

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil – I’m all about oil face products, even though I don’t have dry skin. Therefore, I’m very intrigued with this primer oil.
  • Living Well One Line A Day Journal – Journaling has become one of my latest hobbies, especially the unique journals, including this one line day journal. Great for those interested in starting to journal.
  • Nike Roshe One DMB – I love blue shoes, cobalt blue, and Nike shoes. So, I’m obsessed with these bright blue Roshe. I might have to order these today!
  • Iridescent Hologram Clutch – I’m firm believer in iridescent hologram clutches. I love the clean line of this one from J. Crew.
  • Leather Hook and Eye Bracelet – Loving the minimalism of this bracelet. It’s going to look so chic in the spring.
  • Ceramic Floor Planter – My plant in my living room is growing like weed. A beautiful, lush green “weed” and it needs a new planter. I’m leaning in toward this ceramic floor planter, because it’s very simple and timeless.
