LINK-END ROUND-UP: October 5, 2018 | STAINED COUTURE

Happy Friday! Although it feels like Friday sneaked up on me, I feel like this week lasted forever. Days are longer in the summer and it’s fall, but these past couple of weeks have felt like almost a month. Now that I think about it, a lot changes are beginning to happen in my life. My nephew/ new “roomie” came 2 weeks ago today, which means I’ve been beefing up my plans to find a new place to move. I haven’t lived on my own in few years, but I’m so looking forward to it!

On the work front, a member of my work team is leaving and moving back home to Georgia. Thankfully, our our team is running pretty smoothly now and won’t need to hire a new replacement at the moment. So, her responsibilities are being shifted to another team member and myself. So, on Monday, there will be some training to get everything and everybody on a plan.

Another thing that the arrival of my nephew brought for me is more time. Since my sister used to work 12 hour shifts, I would take her to work after I got off work and pick her up in the morning before I went to work. I only did this 3-4 time a week, but now I don’t have to do that ever again. Now, I have all this extra time to sleep in the morning and also expand the steps in my nightly skincare routine. However, I’m thinking about looking for a seasonal job to help with moving expenses and to plump up my a couple of my savings accounts.

This weekend, I want to do absolutely nothing. Shoot, I might even put my phone on ‘Do Not Disturb’, because I need a mental break. Check back on Monday to see if that happened…or not.

LUST-HAVE LIST: October 2018

Stained Couture’s monthly series, Lust-Have List, features items I’m wanting this month.

LUST-HAVE LIST: October 2018 | STAINED COUTURE

Well, September came and went pretty fast this year despite all the things I had to do throughout September. However, October is here, which is also the beginning of the final quarter of the year. So, if you have some goals you want to reach by the end of the year, you have three months left. It might not seem like much time left, but remember steady wins the race. Just stay consistent and dedicated to reaching your goals and everything will work out.

I decided that I wanted to challenge myself for the remainder of the year and decided to try the keto diet. I’ve been contemplating trying this for a few months, but never did. However, I ran across a guide that comes with access to a popping FB group and we’re all starting today. So far so good, but I can’t lie…I really wanted a cream cheese biscuit from Whole Foods breakfast. However, I suppressed my desires and got scrambled eggs, bacon, and some grilled bell peppers and onions.

One goal I have to complete by the end of this month is figure out an area that I want to move. Ideally, I would like to find a place by the end of November, but it might be wiser to wait until the end of the year. Apparently, it’s cheaper to move in the winter, because people prefer to move when it’s warm. So, the rent and/or deposits are usually cheaper in the colder months. I’m really hoping this is true.

Since I’m still on my “save more, spend less” movement, I’m still very selective with my spending. So, this month, it’s all about things that serve purposes in my life. All of the items will be worn/used almost daily, and/or from a brand that I trust. Check out the items I’m wanting and needing this month.

LUST-HAVE LIST: October 2018

  • Kate Somerville Tight’N Cryogenic Skin Tight Gel – This is a very pricey product, but it just sounds too good to not want. This gel supposedly tightens your skin in minutes and overtime. So, I might need this more than I would like to admit.
  • Chinese Laundry Springfield Mule Bootie – I’ve rarely seen a mule bootie that I wanted, but I’m so into this pair from Chinese laundry. This shoe comes in various colors and textures, but the ‘clay’ shade of burnt orange is so fall. I also love and appreciate the small studded sole detail.
  • ColourPop x Disney ‘Tiana’ lipstick – In the fall and winter, I live for a good, deep, and moody red lip. ColourPop just released a Disney Princesses collection, which features a perfect deep red lipstick named after the Disney character Tiana. Unfortunately, it sold out pretty fast and I’m on the waiting list for it to return. Once it does, I’m ordering at least 3 – at least.
  • Rebecca Minkoff Bi-Fold Snap Wallet – Last week, while deciding what to add to my Shopbop sale cart, I was so close to buying this mirrored wallet. It was instant buyer’s remorse, but I might still try to finagle this cute little wallet into my life.
  • AUrate Gold Huggies earrings – I want to start collecting simple, gold pieces of jewelry. I have a few rings and necklace, but I want a small pair of gold hug hoop earrings. I’m set on these from AUrate in 14k gold and are exactly what I’ve been wanting. Plus, I can pretty much wear them every single day.

LINK-END ROUND-UP: September 28, 2018 | STAINED COUTURE

Happy Friday! Well, a few notable mentions has happened since last week’s Link-End Round-Up. First of all, I’m an aunt again to another adorable nephew. He’s stinking adorable! If you follow me on Instagram, you might’ve gotten a glimpse at chunky little face. He came home on Tuesday and it’s been interesting living under the same roof as a newborn, which I haven’t done in years. Thankfully, he’s adorable and I don’t have to wake up when wakes up at 2 a.m. Yay, for me!

Also, my birthday was this past Wednesday, but I didn’t do anything. Actually, I went to work on my birthday, which I rarely do. However, since I’ve been in and out the office due to the arrival of my nephew, I had so much work to finish. I did take yesterday off and I do have some birthday plans this weekend. It won’t be anything major, but it will be appreciated.

I hope ya’ll have a great weekend and stop by next week!

Oh…hey, Friday! I’m so glad to see you!

My week has been a bag full of mixed emotions that included sadness, stress, but some bouts of happiness. I’ve rapidly approached crunch time in regards to needing to get the ball rolling on me moving within in the next month or so. Ugh…I hate having things in the air, because I don’t know what to catch first.

My birthday is next week, Wednesday to be exact, and I haven’t the vaguest idea of how I’m going to spend it. First of all, I’m probably not going to work, but that’s all I know for now. I might treat myself to a nice breakfast, a new skincare product, or fun accessory. Whatever, I’ll play it by ear, as usual.

As for this weekend? Oh, just another smorgasbord of random things I have to do on Saturday. Tomorrow is also the first day of fall and I’m so giddy. Although it’s supposed to be warm and rainy, it’s still going to officially be fall. However, on Sunday, I plan to be in a vegetative state on my sofa watching football and Hallmark channel movies. Jealous? I know.

I hope we all have a great and prosperous weekend and share more stuff next week.

TIPSY THURSDAY: Punta Cana

Tipsy Thursday is dedicated to sharing a cocktail recipe for all of us 21+ to enjoy. This week cocktail is Punta Cana

TIPSY THURSDAY: Punta Cana Cocktail | STAINED COUTURE

Although the first day of Fall is this weekend, I’m not sure if I’m ready to give up all the great stuff from summer. One thing I’m still leaning on are fruity, tropical drinks that remind me of  a tropical getaway. One drink that screams “You should be on a beach sipping me!” is the Punta Cana cocktail. Punta Cana is named after a popular resort town in the Dominican Republic.  Made with rum, passion fruit juice, and lemon juice; the Punta Cana is the tropical getaway we all deserve in the form of a drink. All I want to do is lay on a beach, curly hair in the breeze, and sipping on this drink right about now.

Keep reading to see how to makes this easy drink and enjoy it while welcoming in fall on Saturday.
