LINK-END ROUND-UP: May 11, 2018

Stained Couture’s weekly series, Link-End Round-Up, features interesting reads I read from around the internet this week.

Link-End Round-Up: May 11, 2018 | STAINED COUTURE

Happy Friday, folks! I hope you all had a good week, because mine was surprisingly enjoyable. My work load wasn’t that hectic, I completed my leadership class weekend, which means I got my Monday nights back. Also, after a couple of months to let my nails get stronger, I was finally got my nails done yesterday. I feel like a refreshed woman!

There was one downside to this week; the heat! All that complaining about winter not wanting to end has come back to slap me in the face with 90 degree weather. I guess we’re not getting spring this year. Now, I have to get into summer mode, because I was not prepared for this heat so soon. The other night, it was 80 degrees at 10 p.m. Uncalled for, in my opinion. I had to pull out my fan from my spare bedroom.

Anyway, here’s to a calm, cool, and relaxing weekend. Also, try to find some time to do some self-care, such as an at-home manicure or some multi-masking while watching your favorite guilty pleasure movie.

OMG! This week had me all over the place and in my feelings more than once. I encounter work-related obstacles and relationship obstacles that had me boiling with anxiety. Thankfully, nothing boiled over and eventually calmed down…for now.

Also, I just realized this is the first LERU of May. I don’t know about ya’ll, but it already feels like May is halfway over. Maybe it’s just me, because this week was draining for me. Thankfully, I’m feeling in a better mood and my office building is having a Cinco de Mayo party this afternoon. Last year, they had margaritas with actual tequila and I’m hoping they do again this year. Last year, I didn’t go to work that day, but I plan to be there this year.

However, I won’t be doing much drinking, because I have a retreat to attend to wrap up this leadership class I’ve been taking through my church. It’s been so good and I’ve been implementing lessons learned into my every life and at work. However, it’s also has helped me see the lack of leadership in the same places. Can’t wait to see how it all ends.

Like I mentioned in yesterday’s Cinco de Mayo outfit post, I have some invites to some awesome parties tomorrow. However, I don’t think I’m going to have the time or energy to go to any, but we’ll see.

In the meantime, have a great weekend and live it up. Also, I might drop another Cinco de Mayo post tomorrow. So, stop by and see!

eSTYLIST: Cinco de Mayo Day Party

Isn’t it awesome when a fun holiday falls in the weekend; like 4th of July? This year, Cinco de Mayo falls this Saturday and I already have 3 different Cinco de Mayo day party invites. However, I’m not sure if I’m going to make it to any of them, because I have a meeting all that morning and then I have to serve at church that evening. So, I might be a little too pooped to fall through any of them.

Still, I’m contemplating going to one and if I do, I’m thinking a cute and casual dress with minimal accessories. I have this super sweet printed dress that I got from Old Navy last year that I never got around to wearing, but I don’t have any cute and comfortable sandals to go with it. I guess I need to hurry up and decide if I’m going or not. If so, I have some shopping to do.

My dress from ON is no longer available, but I did find a similar one. Keep reading to see what I think is a cute contender for any Cinco de Mayo day party.

LUST-HAVE LIST: May 2018

Stained Couture’s monthly series, Lust-Have List, features items I’m wanting this month.

LUST-HAVE LIST | May 2018

It’s May and it’s starting to feel like Summer will be here any minute. I’m praying on a few personal things, which includes making some possible changes and moves in my life. I might share more on that in this Friday’s Link-End Round-Up.

Well, I hope I’m not jumping the gun, but it appears that spring has finally hit and I couldn’t be happier. Sitting outside in my backyard at sunset while my dogs play has become my favorite thing to do. It’s relaxing, therapeutic, and the thing I can’t encourage you to do enough. When I’m really feeling fancy AF, I sip on a fancy glass of rose’ wine. As I type this out, I can’t wait to do this when I get home.

My plans for this month is to continue to take small steps to create big results. I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on various aspects of my life. Pruning bushes in my spirit to reveal things that feed me, while removing the weeds that kill my positive potential. I want get comfortable with being uncomfortable, take chances, and live in the moment. Learning to ignore my phone and turn off phone notifications the last couple of months was so personally insightful. It feels so good and I want to feel more!

Now, in hindsight, I realize that the items I want this month play on nostalgia, mindfulness, and things to please my senses. Kinda cool, if I say so myself. Well, here’s this month’s Lust-Have List and the things I’m wanting this month.

LUST-HAVE LIST: May 2018

  • Nike Classic Cortez XLV Sneaker – It’s white sneaker SZN and I’m all about these white Nike Cortez sneakers. When they were released, I never got around to getting a pair last year. Thankfully, they are still available and come in other fun colors.
  • HJÄRTELIG Plant pot with trellis  – I’m on track to reach my goal to be a full-fledged plant lady by summer. However, I have a one plant that grows out instead of up and I’m not a fan of it. I think this pot will help and encourage to grow upwards. Well, I hope it works.
  • CMYK Color Puzzle – I haven’t put a puzzle together in ages and I’ve  been wanting to do one for a minute. This CMYK color gradient one looks visually appealing, but a challenging. I’m always down for a good mental challenge.
  • Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream – I never wanted to try the Cicapair line, because the line is aimed toward red and inflamed skin.  After reading about one of Coveteur’s staffers uses for this cream, I feel like I need to try it now to use after one of my intense deep cleaning sessions.
  • Pink Grapefruit Body Butter – I love the smell of grapefruit, especially first thing in the morning. Citrus scents are great to use to help wake you up. So, time to upgrade to big level. I plan to smell like citrus all summer, FYI.
  • Mini Wicker Tote – I would like a new smaller everyday bag. Heavily leaning toward this tote with wicker insert. The contrasting materials makes this bag pretty cool.
