So glad that it’s Friday, because this has been a hectic week; personally and professionally. Not to mention, I only worked 4 days this week, which actually caused some of the hectic vibes. So, this weekend, I’m planning to take great big sigh and work on some fun and creative things that I’ve been conjuring up amongst this busy week. Also, today is National Pizza Day. So, I’m kicking it off this evening by ordering some pizza, pairing it with the my favorite cheap bottle of red wine, and watching the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics.

I also need to use this weekend to mentally regroup, because I have non-work related events and appointments almost everyday next week. Sure, a couple of these events include my long overdue nail appointment and a girl’s night out, but they’re still plans.

Also, I’m shamelessly patting myself on the back for actually working and sticking to my creating my mindful habits I shared earlier this week. The other night, I actually felt kind of therapeutic and calm while washing my dishes. Maybe it was because the only thing on my mind at that moment was making sure I washed every single dirty dish in my home and clean the rest of the kitchen. Afterwards, having a lemon fresh scented kitchen without any clutter in sight was the cherry on top. I think I’m starting to look forward to cleaning the kitchen every night and I might throw the bathroom in to really get it popping. WHO AM I?!

Well, here’s to a lovely weekend and productive upcoming week. See ya next week!

Are you ready for Superbowl Sunday?! If football isn’t your thing, there’s always the commercials and halftime show, which is starring fellow Memphian Justin Timberlake. So, you can get into that. FYI, I’m rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles I always root for the underdog if my team isn’t playing.

Also, Superbowl Sunday is also the last day of my fast. I’ve been without coffee and fast food for almost 3 weeks. I could care less about the latter, but me and coffee have been BFFs for years. Actually, I fast off of coffee every year when I do this corporate fast with my church. However, it’s been rough this year and I’ve been wanting coffee hard. I’ve been substituting coffee with soy chai lattes and their great and all. Still, I miss my morning coffee runs and 3pm coffee breaks to get a quick surge to finish the rest of my day.

Aside from watching the big game on Sunday, I finally have the time to get my hair dyed and a blowout on Saturday. My roots are long overdue for a touch-up. These strands of grey and silver in my hair need to go like 3 months ago.

Well, I hope you all have a fun and safe weekend and let’s chat some more next week.

LUST-HAVE LIST: February 2018

Stained Couture’s monthly series, Lust-Have List, features items I’m wanting this month.

Lust-Have List February 2018

After what felt like the longest month in the history of months, it’s finally February. February is a meaningful month to me for many reasons. My mom’s birthday is this month (17th), it’s Black History Month, and we’re so much closer to spring.

I just want spring to hurry up, because I’m sick of this bi-polar weather. First of all, I already have a hard time trying to pick out clothes the night before. So, being below freezing on one day and in the low 60s the next is for the birds and the reason everyone is sick.

I’m so ready for spring. I’ve already picked a weekend to do my spring cleaning and I’ve picked out the vibe I’m going for; minimalist on vacation. You should be able to get a view with some of the items on this month’s Lust-Have List. Keep reading to get all the deets!

TGIF! I am so happy that this work week is almost over, because it’s been super hectic. All those snow days and working from home finally caught up with me this week. Aside from finally getting to wear my new boots, all my energy has been going to work and new projects. All of this has caused my sleep pattern to be knocked out of whack, which I hate. Thankfully, I was able to go to bed a descent and my regular time. After a few more days, I should back to my regular routine.

As of now, I don’t have any set plans for the weekend, but I hope I finally get my car washed. My car looks dusted and busted; inside and out. All of the snow and rain has made it almost impossible to get it clean. Plus, after work, the line to the car wash on my way home has been horribly long everyday. If all goes according to plan, I will wake up at my usual time of before the crack of dawn and go to the car wash tomorrow. *fingers crossed*

Well, here’s to the end of a productive work week, to a deserving weekend, and an amazing next week. Let’s chat some more next week. Okay!

This week went by in a flash for me, what about you? Well, mine was a breeze, because snow kept me home for most of the week. When it comes to “working from home”, I love the idea of it, but for the most part, I’m not productive. Actually, I need to create a true work space at home where I can work without distractions. Luckily, I have an extra room, but I just need to find the desire and time to actually figure it out. I’ll probably tackle that in the spring, because this cold weather is not the move to stir up productivity.

Speaking of cold weather; I’m over it. Last Friday, Memphis got hit with our normal snow and ice storm that caused everyone to buy every loaf of bread Kroger and Walmart. Afterwards, we spent the majority of the weekend hibernating in our homes watching TV and apparently eating foods with bread. However, on Monday night, Mother Nature decided to drop some more snow and ice in our life. Unfortunately, Friday snow and ice hadn’t completely melted away and this made road conditions worse. After spending two days at home, cabin fever set in and I was so stoked to finally be able to come back to work yesterday.

Luckily, I didn’t have any deadline driven projects to work on this week and spent most of my snow days watching and deleting things off my DVR. Small feats are still feats. However, that me and the city streets are finally thawing out, life can get back to normal. First thing I’m planning to do this weekend is get a blowout on my hair and then go wash my car, because it’s filthy; inside and out.

Have a lovely, warm weekend and let’s chat some more next week.
