LINK-END ROUND-UP: December 8, 2017

Stained Couture’s weekly series, Link-End Round-Up, features interesting reads I read from around the internet this week.

Link-End Round-Up December 8, 2017

It’s finally Friday and I’m so glad, because this week was dragging, chile! Tuesday felt like Thursday and Thursday felt like I missed about 5 days. Needless to say, I’ve been thrown off all week. I think it has something to do with Sunday’s full moon and Mercury being in retrograde and all that other stuff that we have to Google to see what it means.

Now that 2017 is almost dunzo, I’ve been thinking about my 2018, which includes deciding what I want to take with me and what to leave behind in 2017. Also, I want to focus on an aspect of my life that will help improve my overall quality of life. I have a couple in mind, but I will share more on that later.

Since it the holiday season, I have a few holiday themed plans this weekend, including my Christmas party of the season this Sunday night. Oddly enough, I’m actually looking forward to it and I have to bring cookies. I think I’m going to order some from this local cookie company that makes the most delicious and adorable cookies. This should be a pretty nice way to spend a shmonday night, if I do say so myself.

In the meantime, have an awesome weekend and check back next week, because I have some more gift guides to share with you!

LUST-HAVE LIST: December 2017

Stained Couture’s monthly series, Lust-Have List, features items I’m wanting this month.

Lust-Have List December 2017

The final Lust-Have List for 2017 is here! As you might be able to tell from this month’s list, I’m in full cozy mode. Surprisingly, December is going to be a little hectic for me.  This month, I have a couple of holiday parties to attend, catching up with some friends and family coming in town for the holidays, and the rest of my Christmas shopping.

For the moments when I don’t have anything planned, I plan to be snuggled up on one corner of my sofa, watching holiday movies while giving myself skincare treatments. I can’t wait! Therefore, you will notice that the majority of the items I’m wanting this month are mostly for laying around and I’m totally okay with that.

LUST-HAVE LIST: December 2017

  • Dr. Martens Delphine Brogue Boots – I haven’t had a pair of Doc Marten boots in decades, but I notice they are coming back and with new styles. These brogue boots borrow the same style of brogue shoes with it’s masculine design. These would look so amazing paired with some straight-leg ankle trousers.
  • Amped Fleece Throw Blanket – Yes, I want a new fleece throw, because my dogs confiscated the one that was previously on  my sofa. However, this one looks just as soft and perfect for cocooning in during an intense Netflix binge.
  • Sunday Riley Juno Hydroactive Face Oil – My skin has been so dry and tired looking. So, I’ve been reaching for face oils more and more for my skin. This Sunday Riley face oil contains ingredients to help your skin look and feel hydrated and supple. I’ve yet to try a Sunday Riley face oil that let me down.
  • Stance Pom Pom Over The Knee socks – Although these are over the knee socks, my big, stocky legs will make these the perfect knee highs for me. I’ve been loving the look of opaque socks over black stockings and paired with black boots. These could work for me.
  • UGG Scuffette II Slippers – It’s time I invest in a good pair of slippers and Ugg slippers are the creme de la creme of slippers, to me. They are just a slipper version of Uggs and feel just as soft and comfy. They are pricier than the slippers I buy at Target, but I consider these a self-care purchase. 🙂

LINK-END ROUND-UP: December 1, 2017

Stained Couture’s weekly series, Link-End Round-Up, features interesting reads I read from around the internet this week.

Link-End Round-Up December 01, 2017

Now that the year is almost done, my workload is pretty light and I still have a few vacation days to use up by the end of the year. So, I have a feeling December is going to be a breeze for me, because I plan to have 4 day or less work weeks for the rest of the year.

Thankfully, I’m pretty much done with my Christmas shopping, which I attribute to having a small list and catching some great deals during Black Friday. I still have a few more items to get, but I put myself on a spending freeze until the 15th. I did this for 2 reasons; because that’s when I paid AND the last big sales before Christmas hit. This is my yearly perfect storm.

My plans for the weekend are pretty non-existent, which will nice following this past weekend. I have a few shows on Netflix that I want to watch and I finally feel it’s okay to start watching Christmas movies. I’m sorry, but I don’t like watching Christmas movies pre-December. Even this past week, it felt premature even though Thanksgiving was over. This also explains why I haven’t done any gift guides, yet.

Speaking of the gift guides; I do have a few I’m going to share in the upcoming weeks. I have to admit that I thought about nixing them this year, because “gift guides” can feel a little boring a diluted. So, I had to find some ways that I could enjoy making them feel refreshed and updated. I’m excited!

Here’s to a great weekend and finally being able to indulge in Christmas cookies and movies in front of a lit Christmas tree!

eStylist: Thanksgiving 2017

For Thanksgiving, I plan to wear my most comfortable raggedy tee and warm sweatpants while Christmas movies. Although one of the main things I’m grateful for is my family and friends, I’m even more grateful that they understand that I don’t want to be bothered with having to get dressed up and leave the house. Thanksgiving 2017 is going to be amazing!

However, if you have plans to go out and don’t know what to wear, here is a little Thanksgiving style inspiration for you to ponder. For Thanksgiving, I usually lean more towards dark and moody colors. This year, I’m really into feminine colors, fun prints, and cozy touches. Not to mention, any time you can find a reason to wear your white booties is a good time. Keep reading to get all the details about this look and one also information about one of my favorite yearly sales that is currently going on.

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is less than a week away?! Well, I can’t, but mainly because I just found out that Thanksgiving is this Thursday and not next Thursday. If completely forgot that Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday; NOT the last Thursday. Not only that, but I scheduled a nail appointment on that day, too! I’m not quite sure if my nail tech realized that or doesn’t care, but I plan to ask her at some point between now and Monday.

I will say this, I’m glad that Thanksgiving is sooner than later, because I can finally feel like getting into the Christmas spirit. Memphis has put up all the lighted snowflakes on the light poles and all of the holiday gifts sets are pulling at my wallet strings. However, it’s just felt way too premature, but not the day after Thanksgiving. My sister and I already plan to spend that day putting up our tree and getting on holiday spirits on. I’m ready!

As for this weekend, I’m super excited, because one of my favorite people in the world/ hair stylist is getting married on Sunday afternoon. Unlike typical cancel-at-the-last-minute me, I will be going and maybe tearing up. I can feel it. So, no heavy eye makeup for me.

Here’s to an amazing weekend and let’s chat some more next week!
