LINK-END ROUND-UP: June 10, 2016

link-end round-up 6-10-16

It’s Link-End Round-Up time, which also means it the beginning of the weekend! I don’t know about you, but I’m so glad that the weekend is finally here, because my week was all over the place. I had to deal with a hectic schedule and many emotions this week that ranged from sad, stressed, and exhausted.

There were many moments this week when I felt overwhelmed with past events, current situations, and future endeavors. However, when it comes things and thoughts like those, I don’t dwell on them for too long. It’s just not healthy to have heavy things weigh down on your spirit. Instead, in those moments, I chose to reflect on positive things and happy feelings. Works every time!

My main plan for this weekend is to avoid having to deal with the humidity is suppose to linger around the city this weekend. So, my AC is going to be blowing! I will also try to take some time to clean some more things out of my spare bedroom. Every I have the energy to just grab things and throw them out, I’m not at home. Fingers crossed that I will have the urge at some point this weekend, because I would really love to turn that bedroom into an at-home office/workspace.

Turning my spare bedroom into a workspace has been something I’ve wanted to do for years and have been putting off for the same amount of time. There’s a lot of stuff in that bedroom that can get be donated. So, that’s what I’m going to sort out first. I can make plans, but putting the plans into motion is my problem. I’m working in on it, though.

LINK-END ROUND-UP: June 3, 2016

Although this was short work week, I’m glad it’s almost over and I found enough time to share this week’s Link-End Round-Up. I feel like I came into the office for 7 days straight instead of 4. Yes, it’s been that rough. It might not have been so bad if it wasn’t for some small major fires that developed in my inbox over the extended holiday weekend. It was definitely not the way that I wanted to begin a “short” work week.

I’ve been so overwhelmed with work this week that I’ve had hardly any time to work on things that I enjoy let alone get my upper lip waxed, which needs to be done ASAP. However, I’m very grateful that almost everything has calmed down since Tuesday morning and I’m looking forward to this weekend. Actually, tonight some girlfriends and I are going to let some steam out flaunting our prowess of random pop culture knowledge at a Trivia Night get together. FYI, I love trivia. So, tonight is going to be a much appreciated way to kick off this weekend.

Have an awesome weekend and see you next week!

LUST-HAVE LIST: June 2016

lust-have list

I’m still feeling the endless servings of grilled meats, heavy sides, decadent desserts, and strong summer cocktails I inhaled during Memorial Day weekend. Ugh. I feel a fast coming on, because I can’t phantom eating anything except veggies and water.

Although it won’t technically be summer for a few more weeks, most people think of MWD weekend as the kick-off for summer. Even this morning when I took my dogs outside, it smelt like summer thanks to the faint hint of humidity from a light rain and dewy grass. The smell instantly took me back to my childhood summer memories of waking up at the crack of mid-morning and getting up in time to catch an episode of The Jerry Springer Show and a bowl of cereal before spending the rest of the day doing almost nothing. I miss those days. I miss those days even more when I find myself zombie-style walking to my car in the morning to go to work. #TheStruggleIsReallyReal

Anyway, we made it to June and I have quite a few plans this month. For a regular, smegular girl who usually doesn’t have much to do in the summer other than complain about the humid heat, my calendar is filling up with lunch dates with girlfriends, meetings, and typical summer festivities. A couple of months ago, I decided that I wanted to make more efforts to curate and grow my friendships. I value all of my relationships, personal and business, so I need to treat them as such. FYI, you should, too!

In this month’s edition of Lust-Have List, it’s very indicative of my planning for a laid-back summer. Enjoy and here’s to summer!

LUST-HAVE LIST: June 2016

  • Alice.D Large Tote – It’s official, I’m obsessed with large, well-crafted, minimalist totes. This one from Alice.D has been on my “I need that ASAP!” list for a couple of months now. It’s chic and comfortably slouchy. Plus, it comes with a shoulder strap option. Can I marry this bag, move to Bali, and live off the things we grow on our land? Dreaming hardcore.
  • Juicero – My “Aunt Dot” came into town a couple of weeks ago and knocked me off my track of improving my health and fitness and this past holiday weekend didn’t help at all. However, I recently got back on track thanks to trips to my favorite pressed juice bar after early morning hikes. However, it would be so much more awesome if I could press my juices…at home. Juicero is genius (and pricey) and the first at-home cold-press juicing system. Definitely worth saving up for, if you crave and buy cold-pressed juice as much as I have been lately.
  • Joie ‘Pippi’ Leather Sandals – A tangerine shoe always looks amazing paired against most skin, especially in the summertime. This frilly leather sandal from Joie is also available in the never fail shade of black, but the tangerine is just too perfect for the season.
  • Chiffon Beach Dress – I’m beginning to plot out my summer getaways and I’ve been looking for a cute swimsuit coverup that doesn’t look like a swimsuit coverup. This one by ASOS curve is perfect. Lightweight, simple print, and can double as a dress (with the right undergarments or swimsuit) for hot summer nights.
  • DevaCurl SuperCream Coconut Curl Styler – As usual for the summer, I tend to rock my natural curls more, which causes me to try and buy multiple products for curly hair. I recently got a free sample of DevaCurl’s Coconut Cream Styler when I purchased their One Decadence conditioner and this styling cream was amazing! It defined and elongated my curls without the crunchy feel that most curly styling products leave. Plus, the smell of coconut in the air from your hair is a nice bonus.

LINK-END ROUND-UP: May 27, 2016

Hey, ya’ll! Well, there are two great things to be thankful today; a 3-day weekend and this wee’s edition of Link-End Round-Up. I don’t about you all, but I need this 3-day weekend after the week I’ve had. Really, it was just a work situation that involved snarky and condescending email towards the end of a work day. I hate encountering unnecessary BS, at the end of a work day since it tends to linger on me when I leave the office, which is did. It was just really annoying, but I’ve ultimately pushed it out of my mind and get moving forward. #CubicleLife

I’m so stoked for this 3-day weekend. Although I plan to do practically NOTHING, my sister and I are going to throw a small BBQ on Monday by striking up the grill to smoke some chicken, hot dogs, smoke sausages, and whatever she buys. I’m in charge of drinks (sodas and liquor) and I’m perfectly content with that and I already have a few cocktails I plan to cuddle up all that day.

In the meantime, I hope you all have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend and I will see you on Tuesday, because, like I said, I plan to do absolutely NOTHING this long weekend except enjoy it.

I hope everyone had a great week and ready for this week’s edition of Link-End Round-Up. I’m so glad that Friday is finally here, because I need to take a quick breather from a hectic week. I had many moments of feeling overwhelmed and anxious with all the new things I trying to take on add to my life and business. Luckily, I knew those things come with the territory, but still having to deal with can be too much. Oh, and I drank a lot of coffee this week. Yes, a lot of coffee was consumed despite me trying to fast off of it for awhile. Maybe I’ll try again next week. Just a soft maybe.

FYI, this past Monday was the 5th year anniversary of me being at my current job. To acknowledge the occasion, a co-worker and I hit up a local Mexican restaurant and took full advantage of their all day Happy Hour menu. Celebrating 5 years with $5 margaritas was very appropriate, necessary, and fun. We closed the place down and it was great!

My plans for this weekend including having Saturday brunch with a couple of girlfriends, try to convince my BF to get couple pedicures (so he can pay for both. wink, wink.), and hopefully indulge in some awesome pre-summer, sunny weather. I love and live for lazy weekends. Speaking of “lazy”, I started hashtagging some of my favorite relaxing and easy loves with the hashtag #LazyLadyApproved. So, if you search that tag on Instagram and Twitter, you will be able to see some things that float my lazy boat. Like I said, I’m just starting, but look out for the tag.

In the meantime, have an amazing weekend and let’s catch up next week.
