LINK-END ROUND-UP: May 13, 2016

link-end round-up may 13, 2016

It’s Friday the 13th and here’s this week’s edition of Link-End Round-Up.

I chuckle when I think back to my childhood and Friday the 13th was a legit spooky day and make sure I didn’t step on any cracks, because you know…I didn’t want to break my mama’s back. Remember that?

I hope everyone had a great week and it went by as fast as mine. I did a lot reflecting and refocusing on my business this week. Ugh. There might be some slight rebranding coming up for Stained Couture and I do mean slight. So slight, you might not even notice, but it’s coming. Actually, it’s more of revert than a rebrand. Still, more on that in the near future.

Here’s to a calming and relaxing weekend and I will chat with ya’ll next week!

eSTYLIST: Cinco de Mayo Girls Night Out

eStylist cinco de mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

First thing first, Cinco de Mayo is not, I repeat NOT, the day of Mexico’s independence. Instead, it marks the day that Mexico unexpectedly defeated French forces at the Battle of Puebla. However, liike St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo has turned in a national reason to go out drinking and snacking on salsa and chips.

Since I am half Mexican, I grew up celebrating Cinco de Mayo with my mom making homemade tortillas, mexican rice, and beans. However, as an adult, I usually acknowledge the holiday by spending time with friends and couple of pitchers of Margaritas and this year will be no different.

After work, a couple of my coworkers and I are going to go to this awesome Mexican spot in Midtown. I heard they have some of the best margaritas in town. So, I’m down! Afterwards, I’m going to run across the street to another bar to meet with a couple of girlfriends as we drown out sorrows that Beyonce’ cancelled her Nashville show a.k.a the one we were supposed to go to tonight.  Whooo, I’m so mad about that. Let me move on, because the more I think about it, the angrier I get and the more I might drink.

Well, if you planning to hit the town to do a little bar hopping for some margaritas, I have a little festive style inspo for you.

However, if you plan to stay in for your margaritas, here are some festive Cinco de Mayo recipes that you can try from the comforts of your home.

LUST-HAVE LIST: May 2016

lust-have list

Okay, I seriously slipped up on catching the first day of May. I want to blame it on the fact that I was so occupied with avoiding meat, dairy, and carbs while trying to catch every festival that came to town and getting to the farmer’s market in time to get a prime parking spot. #SpringTimeStruggles

I guess you can say that I had a casually hectic April, if that makes any type of sense. Still, it was pretty great and I’m so happy to see another month, especially May. The month of May is a very nostalgic month. Since I have friends who have kids graduating from high school and a couple of friends who are receiving their Master’s, I’ve caught myself, on more than one occasion, reminiscing about my high school and college graduations way back in the day. Those moments will always be happy moments, no matter how many decades pass…LOL.

In the meantime, please check out the things that I’m lusting for in May.

LUST-HAVE LIST: May 2016

  • Origins By All Greens Foaming Deep Cleansing Mask – When the temps get warmer, my skin gets oilier. Foaming cleansers and deep cleansing masks are usually my go-to products when this happens. So, to see the two combined in one product from one of my favorite skincare brands makes this automatic “must buy”.
  • Jacquie Aiche  JA Crystal Wrap Necklace – You can never go wrong with a casual chic necklace for spring, like this wrap necklace fromJacquie Aiche. You can wrap and work it to your desired length and vibe. Personally, I love the long and delicate look, but I would love to see it wrapped all the up to choker length.
  • Junarose Palm Print Playsuit -My sister has been on a romper buying spree and it is starting to rub off on me. However, unlike her, I’m into rompers that are an easy option for work or play in the hot months. I love the fun and fluid vibes of palm print and casual Friday-friendly details, including pockets and button up front.
  • Loeffler Randall ‘Luz’ Tassel Sandal -Tassels details are big this season, especially on shoes. However, this nude, block heel, lace-up sandal, with tassels might sound “too busy”, but is actually the perfect blend of trendy and chic.
  • Listography Journal: Your Life in Lists – I love lists! I write them everyday to help me journal and complete daily tasks. This book goes even further and asks you to list key things from your life to help you ultimately create your autobiograpgy….in list form. I getting this book!

There you have it, this month’s Lust-Have List, even though it’s a little late this month.

LINK-END ROUND-UP: April 29, 2016

link-end round-up

Hey, Friday and Hey, new Link-End Round! This week went by so fast! The only thing I remember is pretty much all the lyrics to Beyonce’s new album, LEMONADE. AHH!! The album is so good and was so worth me keeping my Tidal account. I’m so obsessed with the album and I have been proudly blaring it non-stop since Saturday night. I play “Hold On” and “Don’t Play Yourself” 5x, before moving on to the rest. Like I said, the album is so good! I don’t see me not playing this album well into the summer.

Speaking of music, this weekend, I’m going to actually try to go to the Beale Street Music festival.  The Beale Street Music Fest is the big annual 3-Day music festival here in Memphis. A childhood friend of mine is in town and we bought tickets to go, which I will probably do unless it rains. It’s almost a tradition for it to rain the weekend of the music festival. I can only recall one out of the last 10 years when it didn’t rain that weekend. This year is no different, because the forecast calls for rain tonight and heavy rain tomorrow. However, like I said, it’s pretty much a tradition and there are some people who hope for rain during the festival. I’m not one of those people, FYI.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great and safe weekend. See ya’ Monday!

LINK-END ROUND-UP: April 22, 2016

link-end round-up

Hey, Friday! Welcome to this week’s Link-End Round-Up. This week really ended on a sad and depressing note for me, because of the early passing of Prince. He was, hands down, one of my favorite artists. EVER. So, I was definitely in my feelings yesterday and probably for a while, because I didn’t see this coming. Fortunately, he left a catalog of HITS for us enjoy his spirit, which is what I plan to do all this weekend.  I plan to sing and dance to Prince’s music all weekend, if not longer. Oh, and Purple Rain will be on a loop in my house, too. FYI

Luckily, Prince also had some party hits that gave you energy and happiness. Therefore, that’s what I will be playing as I drive to the local Hot Wing festival here in Memphis. Hot wings are BAE and they will be especially adored, because it will be my personal celebration to end my 21 day fast.

YES! My fast ends tomorrow and I’m so stoked. This has been a rough 21 days, but I definitely feel like it has paid off, because I’m more focused on living and healthier and stronger life more than ever. Although I will partake in tasting of somethings that I haven’t had in over 3 weeks (Yes, I’m talking to you, coffee!), I won’t go overboard with too much of the “bad” stuff, because I just don’t have a taste for certain foods anymore and don’t want restart those cravings ever again. So, that’s an extra plus!

In the meantime, I hope you all have an amazing weekend and blast some classic Prince to spread his love; MUSIC.
