Daily Supplements for Supplementing My Daily Life

For the past year or so, I’ve been experimenting with daily supplements. Unlike my daily vitamin, I regularly change what supplements I take depending on what health issues are currently a concern to me. Last year, when I first started to test out the supplement waters, I talked with my doctors about supplements they recommend I take. Yes, you should definitely talk with your doctor about what supplements you should take. Doing so will help you know what works well with you based off of your medial concerns and any medications.

Taking daily supplements plays a major part of my day and keep reading to see what I currently take and why.

Daily Supplements: Heart

The older you get, the more attention you should pay to your heart. For me, I have to pay extra attention, because my mom had heart issues and I’ve never been on the healthy end of the scale. So, last year, I started learning about what things I should put into my body that’s good for heart health. Near the top of the list, behind exercise and healthy eating, was fish oil and garlic. Fish oil helps to lower triglycerides levels. On the other hand, garlic is good for lowering blood pressure and LDL cholesterol. Therefore, when combined, they provide the best job of lowering LDL levels, triglycerides and raising HDL cholesterol out of all the ingredients. However, in the end, your heart still needs cardio and healthy foods.

Daily Supplements: Fibroids

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with fibroids and went through an almost insufferable period. Since I didn’t to have to go through surgery, I looked into natural ways to improve and/or shrink them. The thing I did was change my diet by cutting out red meat and dairy and eat more leafy greens. During my research, I learned about DIM-Complex pills. DIM-Complex contains Diindolylmethane, which formed in the body from plant substances contained in “cruciferous” vegetables such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and broccoli. DIM helps to promote a healthy estrogen metabolism. Although I do recommend you do your own research and talk to your OBGYN, I haven’t experienced any other fibroid related issues once I started taking DIM daily.

Daily Supplements: Skin and Bones

I had to start taking Vitamin D last year when I stopped consuming so much dairy, because of my fibroids. My doctor suggested to start taking vitamin D to help supplement my lack of calcium intake.  I just started taking Astaxanthin, because it’s good for eye health and skin when exposed to sun.

Daily Supplements: Miscellaneous

Rhodiola was recommended to me as a natural ingredient that helps increase energy and physical endurance. I added this when I was weening myself off of multiple cups of coffee a day. This combined with the green tea extract really helps keep me motivated when I first get to work in the morning. Last fall, when I had bronchitis one month and a bad cold a few weeks later, I picked up a Liver Blend supplement with milk thistle to help rid  my body and liver of all of the medications that had to take. I had a little allergy cold last week that I medicated my way through. So, I’m taking this supplement for a few days to help get all those antihistamine ingredients out. Does it work? I’m not sure, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
