Current Favorite Hair Products: Spring 2019

A couple of months ago, I was having a real love/hate relationship with my hair. Actually, I feel like this happens at least twice a year and I’m okay with that. So, I did what I usually do, buy a ridiculous amount of hair products with the hopes that some or all of them make me feel like Beyonce with a fan; fabulous. SPOILER ALERT: All of them didn’t work. Although, they didn’t make me feel like Queen Bey, I did find some new favorite hair products. I consider this a fair compromise, TBH!

Since the weather is warming up, I’ve been wearing my natural curls, which I do every year. It’s pretty much a tradition at this point. However, it’s been hard for me to find a product that defines and holds my curls without them feeling hard and crunch. Thankfully, I randomly bought this Matrix Biolage Bodifying Styling Jelly and it’s been amazing. First off, it’s very watery, which was weird for a gel. However, maybe that’s why it holds my curls without making them crunchy. I just rub a little in my palms and finger comb it through my damp hair and let it air dry. After a couple of hours – soft, defined, and bouncy curls. It was a very magical experience the first time, but now it’s full-blown love story.

Recently, my stylist and I have mutually agreed to end my goal of trying to be golden blonde goddess by summer. The process was just too harsh for my hair. Plus, the maintenance was breaking ya’ girl’s wallet! Also, not only was going lighter threatening the integrity (yes, integrity!) of my natural curl pattern, but it also breaking my hair. No matter how diligent I was with weekly deep conditioning, using low/no heat on my hair, lace wigs and giving up elastic hair ties; my hair was still breaking.

Now, I’m in rebuild and regrow mode and looking for products to help. One product that I’ve recently started using is Mane Choice Anti-breakage and repair Split End Treatment serum. This serum is loaded with ingredients such as kalahari oil, oleaster Oil, mongongo oil, baobab oil, and omega fatty acids that help strengthen and condition the hair shaft. I love that you can apply this on wet or dry hair, which I love. Cherry on top- it smells like strawberries. So, strawberries on top?

Finally, one brand that I’d been wanting to try was The Doux. I can’t lie, the bright packaging always caught my eye at Target, but I never bit. However, I finally bit with The Doux Weightless Shine Mist, because I want shiny and bouncy hair all spring and summer. What really made me buy it is that it can also be a thermal heat protectant. Heat protectant  is bae, FYI! However, I use it more to protect my hair from the environmental heat, which will help once the heat really turns up this spring and summer. Not to mention, this spray gives my hair a perfect gentle glisten. *insert heart eyes emoji*
