EMPTIED: March 2017

Stained Couture’s monthly series, Emptied, features beauty products that I’ve used up over the past month.

In March, I was focused on trying products I haven’t used in awhile. Also, there were a couple of products that only had a couple of uses left. Therefore, I made it a point to used those up, as well.

Hair related products were the main products I used up this month. My lack of effort on my hair has been annoying me. Recently, I decided that I want big, obnoxious curls by the summer. So, I’ve been playing around with my natural curls and curly styles, which means hydration. The conditioner from L’Oreal’s Ever Fresh collection, which I reviewed months ago, was one of the products . This line really helped keep my scalp clear and feel refreshed. Whether I wore my hair straight or curly, this conditioner helped my hair feel stronger and hydrated. I would buy this in the future.

A couple of months ago when I decided to grow out my curls, I wanted to try some different products I haven’t used before. Luckily, Target has a nice selection of travel-size curly hair products. A couple of the products I picked up was DevaCurl No-Poo and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I’ve had great results with the few DevaCurl products I’ve used in the past. So, I felt confident that I would like this no-poo and I was right. I haven’t had the best experience with some no-poo, no shampoo cleanser, because they can be too heavy or suck at cleansing my scalp.  The DevaCurl No-Poo is a no-brainer future buy for me. The Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie was another good purchase. It’s always an accomplishment when I can find a product that helps to define my curls without making them hard and crunchy. Another future buy!

I’m on the hunt for a new primer, because I finally used up the Hard Candy Pore-Defense Primer serum. The serum primer is one of the few beauty products that I can only pick up at Walmart. However, I think I’m going to try some other primers that are designed for oily skin. Have any recommendations, leave them below.

Finally, I used up my last tub of St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Moisturizer. Usually, any product with collagen is an instant win for me. However, there was nothing special about this moisturizer. I’ve had it for year and only had a few more uses left before it was empty. So, I used it up and doubt I ever buy it again. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t live up to it’s claim.
