EMPTIES: April 2022

EMPTIES April 2022 | STAINED COUTURE

Y’all – I’m so proud of myself for using up so many products last month! Keep reading to get my final take on these products.

Let’s start with Rae Wellness Pre + Probiotic supplements. I’ve been using these supplements and others from Rae Wellness for the past few years. They have really good supplements for inside and outside health. However, with the last container of these supplement I bought, the count was off. So, I reached out to Rae Wellness customer support via Instagram. They were very helpful and sent me a new bottle. I love when a company I love provides great customer service. Me and Rae forever cool!

Next up is Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which I bought a little over a year. I’m a huge fan of skin oils and tend to have a few in my skincare cabinet. The reason it took so long to use up this little bottle is because you only need to use a little, because it’s a concentrate. Another reason it took some time for me to use it up was because I wasn’t a fan of it. I didn’t like how it felt on my skin and it  has fragrance. So, I may not buy this one again, but this is a cult classic to many people.

Another product I used up my Sephora birthday gift of the Laniege Lip Sleeping Mask. Another iconic product, which I did love. However, when the winter weather got really brutal this past winter, I started to use it as a lip balm. It was perfect, because it was very moisturizing and gave my lips a slight pink hue. That was a game changer.

Up next, we have Design Essentials Natural Almond & Avocado Curl Revitalizer. Honestly, the Design Essentials and Design Essentials Natural brands have yet to let me down. This revitalizer spray is no exception, because it did a great job refreshing and rehydrating my curls. Honestly, this may be my new go-to curl refresher.

Let’s talk about Clinique’s Take the Day Off makeup remover. One of my favorite make up removers is the cleansing balm from this line, because it effortless melts and removes your makeup. So, I high hopes for this eye makeup remover, but my hopes were dashed. This barely took my regular mascara off and barely budged my waterproof mascara. However, it was amazing at removing liquid lipstick. Still, I don’t think I will buy this again.

So, NYX Matte Setting spray was pretty amazing! I bought the travel size because I try to buy the travel size of products I haven’t used before or in awhile. Although this is a matte spray, it didn’t make skin look or feel dry. I will buy the regular size bottle next, because me and my oily skin plan to be outside this summer.

Recently, I started leaning more on chemical exfoliators instead of physical ones. The physical ones have more instant gratification, but the chemical ones really get in there. One of the best one’s on the market is the Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant, which contains salicylic acid. This liquid exfoliant helps with clogged skin and even the skin tone. Plus, it’s light and great to use on exfoliating day or everyday – it’s that gentle. I already bought and cracked open a new bottle. 😀

Finally, I used another tube of a Neutrogena sunscreen, because they make decent, affordable, and easily attainable sunscreen. I always try to buy the Ultra Sheen dry-touch sunscreen because it doesn’t leave a white cast. It’s a no brainer to assume that I will buy Neutrogena sunscreens again.
