EMPTIES: March 2021

What, I’m actually posting my EMPTIES post in a single digit date of the month?! Yes, your girl is trying to do better in all aspects of her life, including my little corner of the internet. However, this going to be a pretty quick post, because I only used up 2 products last month. Keep reading to see what I used up and my final review.

First up, is The INKEY List Niacinamide serum, which has become one of my holy grail ingredient for  my skin. I have combination/oily skin, but you really can’t tell since I’ve consistently started using niacinamide. FYI, niacinamide is used to help control excess oil, redness, and blemishes – I’ve dealt with all of these. I’ve only tried a couple of niacinamide serums and I feel the best ones for my skin only have 10% and are combined with another ingredients. The niacinamide from The INKEY List also contains 1% hyaluronic acid, which helps to hydrate the skin.

Currently, I’m using another niacinamide serum, but I will totally buy the one from INKEY List again.

The final product that I used up last month was Pattern Beauty Leave-In conditioner. I’d been wanting to try Pattern Beauty ever since it came out a couple of years ago, but it kept selling out. However, late last year, I decided to give it a try and picked up the Pattern Beauty On-The-Go Kit. Since the kit came with the 2 essential and main products I wanted to try, I thought this was a good way to try them all.

You might be wondering why I used the leave-in up before the shampoo or condition. Well, honestly, I was using it wring the first 2 times I used it. Like my high school chemistry teacher used to say, “When all else fails, read the instructions” and I let Mr. Wright down.

I thought all leave-in conditioners were the same – apply to wet/damp hair. Nope, because the Pattern Beauty leave-in requires you to apply it dripping wet hair and they mean dripping wet. The results I got when I applied it wet vs. dripping wet hair was noticeable. When I applied it the way the instructions stated, my curls were soft, defined, and manageable. I loved the way my curls looked and felt in the end, when applied correctly. Since I’m not used to applying leave- in that way, I’m not in a rush to buy this again. Still, I would buy it again – maybe when my hair grows a little longer. 😀
