EMPTIES: Spring 2019 pt. 2

I’m not sure how this happened, but I’ve been going through so many beauty products lately. I was trying to do a new Empties post every season, but I have used up way too many product these last few months. Therefore, I couldn’t wait any longer and decided to take an executive decision and do  EMPTIES: Spring 2019 pt. 2. Using up so many products over the past couple of months is a good and bad thing. It’s good, because I’ve been cautious about using up products instead of buying new things. The bad thing is that I’ve now iut of different products, such as night creams. So, I have to start buying some new products soon.

EMPTIES: Spring 2019 Pt.2

Keep reading to get a complete run down of all the products that I’ve used up over the last couple of months. Don’t worry – there won’t be a part 3. 😉

EMPTIES: Spring 2019 (HAIR)

I’ve been embracing all the possible hair textures and styles of my hair. However, like I’ve mentioned before, I mostly wear my hair curly in the warmer months. Yet, there are some days that I straighten my hair, because I’ve been actively going on job interviews.

No matter if I wear my hair straight or curly, I’ve always use The Mane Choice Egyptian Anti-breakage serum. I shared this serum a few months ago and I’m glad to say that I never stopped using this treatment. It helped my ends feel and look stronger, which prolonged me having to make that dreaded trip to get my ends trimmed. *clears throat* Like I’ve mentioned countless times and will continue to shout into the world; you can’t repair/ fix split ends! You can only temporarily mended them with products enriched with certain ingredients and this serum from Mane Choice is one I will always recommend.

The next hair product that I used up was the dp HUE Apple Cider Scalp rinse. Although my wallet isn’t a fan of me dropping over $30 for this bottle, my scalp appreciates it. I probably won’t be buying this scalp rinse until the winter, when my scalp gets dry and I apply more oils to combat the flakiness. However, I might buy the smaller bottle, which is only $15, for when my scalp experiences extra build-up from some of my natural hair products.

The final hair product I recently used up the Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this hair spray! It gave my hair just enough texture without it feeling weighed down. Plus, it smells amazing and I can totally see myself buying this again.

EMPTIES: Spring 2019 (FACE WASH)

This year, I’ve been buying and using so many face washes. The first face cleanser I used up is the Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil. This is one of my favorite makeup removers and the first step in my makeup removal routine. This cleansing oil does an efficient and instantaneous job at breaking down the layers of makeup baked on my face. Yes, it even loosens and slides off my ridiculous coats of mascara WITHOUT irritating my sensitive eyes. I really love this cleanser and it’s great for double-cleansing.

The next cleanser I used up was a sample of Youth to the People Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser. I was as hesitant about including this product as I was about using it. Thankfully, I gave it a go and glad I did, because it did such a good job at cleansing my skin and made my skin look smoother. After I decided to use it consistently for a week (2x a day), I could a difference in the texture of my skin.

How was I able to get so much out of this little jar? Well, you only need a little bit of cleanser to wash your face; no matter the cleanser. If a product/brand tells you otherwise, find another product. In the end, I will probably pick up the big version of this cleanser in the future.

The final face cleanser that I used up was Kielh’s Ultra Facial Cleanser. Like the Benefit brow gel I talked about yesterday, I initially didn’t like this cleanser when I first used it. Actually, I was about to give away to my sister, before I tried it one more time and loved it.

What was the difference this time that made me love it? The temperature. When I initially bought and tried this face wash, it was during the winter when my skin is dry. Although the packaging claims it’s good for all skin types, it didn’t work for me. However, when I tried it again in summer when my skin was oiler, it helped my face feel purified and hydrated. So, I used this bad boy up all last summer and this spring. Now, I totally get why this is one of Kiehl’s best sellers.

EMPTIES: Spring 2019 (FACE MOISTURIZERS)

Other than face washes, the next product that I’ve been using up like crazy are face moisturizers. Seriously, I’ve used up every type of face moisturizers; oils, creams, lotions, day moisturizers, and night creams. So much so, I’m down to one face oil that I’ve been using day and night and I’m almost out of that. Therefore, I’m going shopping for new face moisturizers this weekend. In the meantime, let’s discuss all the face moisturizers I’ve used up these past couple of months.

I want to start the Brevena moisturizers; Restore and Hydrate Night Cream and Daily Moisturizer. Although I just them up recently, these were my go-to moisturizers this winter. These moisturizers were good on their own, but I noticed that they were super dreamy when used every day, consistently. They each provided the right amount of moisture; the day moisturizer was smooth and creamy and the night cream was rich and decadent. I highly recommend these moisturizers if you have dry skin and/or in the winter. Also, a great anti-aging moisturizing dream team.

While cleaning out a purse I carried last summer, I stumbled across a tiny jar of Ole Henriksen Nurture Me Moisturizing Creme. This was one of the most moisturizing creamy face creams that I’ve ever used. It was so hydrating, that kept it my purse all winter and used it on neck, hands, lips and whatever else need some more moisture.

When was a little girl, the only skincare products my mom used was Oil of Olay. So, I occasionally get a little nostalgic and pick up a product from Oil of Olay, which is why I picked up their Age Defying Advanced Hydrating Gel Cream. Other than the name, another reason I picked this up is because it was a gel moisturizer that had hyaluronic, which is still an ‘it’ ingredient for skin. Since this was gel moisturizer, it was very soothing and calming. However, despite the addition of hyaluronic, it wasn’t moisturizing enough for the winter. So, at night, I would combine it with face oil to make it the right amount of moisture.

The face oil I would add to this moisturizer is Rata & Co Superfood Brightening Face Oil. It added just the right amount of extra moisture this gel cream. However, I really loved using this face oil as a regular daytime moisturizer, because it quickly soaked into my skin. Plus, it’s the oil I would apply to my skin before I broke out my face ice roller. I found this oil in a TJ Maxx and bought it on a whim, but I’m going to buy them all up the next time I run across them.

EMPTIES: Spring 2019 (MISC)

Congrats, you’ve made it to final products that I used up this Spring. The first item I want to share is The Body Shop’s Drop Of Youth essence. I’ve talked about this essence multiple times and will let you go read about it here. However, I really fell in love with this towards the end, because I used it as a simple night moisturizing whenever my skin was breaking out. I think The Body Shop is going to continue this line, which means I need to go buy some more.

As a recovering serum addict, I haven’t been using as many serums as I used to or would like to use. However, I was able to finally use up The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid Emulsion serum. Unfortunately, this serum didn’t really do anything for me, but at least it didn’t aggravate my skin. So, I’m okay with that. *shrugs*

Yes, I was able to use up the Smashbox Photo Finish primer I was trying to use up a couple of weeks ago. I’m almost done with the other 2 products I mention and will be in the EMPTIES: Summer 2019 edition.
