Fall Morning Routine 2016

fall morning routine

It’s hard to believe that the first day of fall is tomorrow. Maybe it’s hard to believe because the weather has been very stubborn about giving us any type of cool weather. However, my yard is slowly getting filled with fallen leaves and my car has condensation on it every morning, which are clear indications that fall is here. When every season changes, my morning routine seems to follow suit and I’ve already adapted to a fall morning routine. So, thought I would share it with you this morning.

Since the first thing I do when I wake up is look at my phone to see the time, I also go ahead and check the notifications I received overnight and read my daily devotional. My bible app sends me a daily reminder at 4am to read my devotional. I prefer the first thing I read and take in to be positive and uplifting, which is why I signed up for Joyce Meyers’ Daily Promises devotional. It’s quick, enlightening, and a great way to start my morning.

Despite my love of being lazy, the fact that I’m getting older has caused me to start stretching and meditating in the morning. Even if for only 15 minutes, the effects of it lasts all day and my mornings get just a bit more easier to handle.

After I’m done with stretching and meditating, I head to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. One thing I wish I could change is my desire to eat breakfast every morning…at home. I either grab something that’s usually not that healthy on the way to work or nosh on snacks I keep in my drawer at work. Neither of those options are ideal. So, I’ve been dedicating time in my morning to actually make my breakfast, which has been harder than it should. I would love to be able to make a healthy veggie omelet with a lean breakfast meat on the side every morning. Unfortunately, I’m just happy that I can make me a bowl of oatmeal and cut up an apple to eat with some almond butter. Therefore, I think it’s time I add breakfast prep to my list of things to do before I go to bed at night.

After breakfast, I boil some water for my tea. While the water is boiling, I go wash my face and brush my teeth. I’m still using and loving my Murad Essential-C Cleanser. Since I do a pretty thorough job washing my face at nice, all I need in the morning is a gentle cleanser to not dry out my skin since my house is cool overnight night. This cleanser also acts a toner, too.

For my teeth, I’m currently using Colgate’s Mineral Repair toothpaste. FYI, I’ve been using Colgate since I was little girl, because that’s the brand my dad always bought. Therefore, I still gravitate toward it when I’m walking down the never ending toothpaste aisle now that I’m responsible for buying my own toothpaste. Crazy.  Dental care is very important to me, because I drink a lot of coffee and I do mean a lot. So, combine my love of coffee, my love of pairing coffee with a sweet pastry, and my sensitive teeth that gets extra sensitive in cooler weather, then you probably understand why I pay extra attention to the tooth paste I use. You should, too! Colgate Enamel Health Mineral Repair Toothpaste helps repair weaken enamel and sensitivity, which are both things that I’m concerned with when it comes to my teeth. So, I’m loving this toothpaste right now!

For some reason, in the fall, I begin to drink hot tea in the morning instead of coffee. Currently, I’ve been sipping various Numi teas. I’m loving the Ginger Pu-erh one, because ginger is good for awaken your senses and calming any gestational issues. While sipping my tea, I like read a few pages from whatever book I’m reading at the time. I finally got and started You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero. You might recall that this has been on my reading list for quite sometime, but I finally got it and it’s so good. I feel like it’s going to be a quick read for me, because I have a hard time putting it down. I almost fell asleep while reading it last night, because I didn’t want to stop reading.

Although it’s fall, the weather still gets hot as the day goes on. So, I’ve been sticking to a minimal makeup routine that involves a little foundation, setting powder, eyeliner, and deep red or pink lippie du’ jour. I recently found the perfect deep burgundy lipstick for my complexion. It’s the color Feline from NYX High Voltage lipstick collection. It’s so intense, but also very hydrating.

With usually just 10-15 minutes to spare, I through on a simple outfit, which either involves leggings and a long top or a maxi dress and cardigan. After that, I grab my purse and lunch and head to work. I’m really into creating and sticking to routines, because when you remove the need to think about daily norms, it gives you time to think about other pressing issues.
