In Distress for More Denim

I know I’m not the only one who has those days when you’re getting dressed to start your day and envision a look you want to achieve, but realize that you’re missing some elements to pull off said stylish feat. I felt like that recently while getting ready for work. While flipping through my closet one morning, I imagined that a simple blouse, boyfriend cardigan, and wide leg jeans would look awesome paired with my favorite moccasins from many seasons ago.

Simple blouse? I pulled out this perfectly simple and chic cream blouse I scored for less than $15 a few months ago. Boyfriend cardigan? I had another score a couple of months ago in the form of a classic black boyfriend cardigan from Target. Wide leg jeans? Umm…wait, I don’t have any?

Well, actually, I have one pair, but for lack of better words, they’ve seen and had better days with the faded hue, worn out hem, and thinning thigh area to prove it. They now reside in a special corner of the closet with my sweatpants and faded leggings for days of running errands or when I really couldn’t care less how I look while driving to pick up something from Mickey Ds. Therefore, I instantly came to the conclusion that I needed to start shopping for more denim.

This past summer, most of the shopping I did involved buying skirts and dresses. Also, I went through a phase of “making” cutoffs, which also explains my lack of jeans.

Even while prepping my fall wardrobe, I’ve mainly been shopping for blouses, sweaters, and oxfords and boots. Now, I’m about to get in denim shopping mode. I know I need a few pairs in different styles, but I definitely want to find a nice pair of denim trousers.

I used to have an amazing pair of denim trousers a few years ago, which felt super comfy, but looked clean and perfect for casual Fridays at work. Trouser jeans paired with a classic fitted blazer and even a simple white tee is a perfect outfit if your office acknowledges casual Friday, just in case you’ve needed some ideas.

In the end, I’m back on the mission to step up my personal denim collection and stock up on various styles. I’m still in shock that I’ve run out of denim jean options. Well, any reason to shop is appreciated.
