ITEM OF THE WEEK: Complexion Sponge

ITEM OF THE WEEK is a weekly series on Stained Couture that highlights a product we’re currently loving. This week: Real Techniques Complexion Sponge and travel case.

Item of the Week Complexion Sponge

It took me a long time to jump on using sponges for applying makeup. After all, I learned to apply makeup using brushes and if it’s not broke why fix it. However, I did give makeup sponges so many chances and have the collection of teardrop shaped sponges to prove it. Thankfully, I never gave up on finding a makeup sponge, which lead me to my favorite makeup tool; Real Techniques Complexion Sponge.

The complexion sponge doesn’t look like the typical makeup sponge, because it’s not. Now, it does have a pointy end, which is great for apply concealer or setting powder to corner of your eyes. However, what makes this sponge a game-changer is the flat side, which I use for everything. Initially, I used the flat side to set my under eye makeup, but then I started finding other uses. Although I’m still trying to conquer the precision skill of contouring, the flat side is great to help shade and sculpt your cheeks.

I’ve been obsessed with this sponge for a couple of years now. However, my obsession peaked when I saw that you can now buy the sponge with a travel case. It’s small, compact, and perfect for tossing in your bag to go. Plus, it also helps keep it clean and away from collecting dirt.

You can pick up this sponge up from most stores that carry Real Technique products. Personally, I tend to buy them in bulk from Ulta and Walgreens whenever they have a BOGO on them.

Have you used the complexion sponge. If so, did you like it?
