LUST-HAVE LIST: November 2015

LHL-November-2015

We made it to November and it’s officially the beginning of holiday season, which include Thanksgiving and all the sales you can imagine until Christmas.

Unfortunately, it appears that I’m starting this month off in combative mode by trying to stop a cold from settling into my body. I spent the majority of my weekend in-doors and sipping on cold medicine and fresh orange juice. I even contemplated taking a week off from Stained Couture.

However, I feel a little better thanks to plenty of rest and peppermint tea. So, let’s start this month off, as usual, with the November 2016 Lust-Have List!

  • Tom Dixon Brew French Press – Sipping french press coffee is one of the ‘it’ things to do, especially to floss on the ‘gram (Instagram). However, french press coffee is kinda awesome and I’ve been wanting to try at home. This copper one is so pretty and chic. It’s almost too pretty to use.
  • Faux Fur Moto Jacket – For the fall, I’m all about utilitarian bomber jackets. However, for the winter, I want, no, need a moto jacket. I might be a little more than obsessed with this faux leather one from Forever 21. The deep hunter green is so chic. Even minimalistic me is enjoying the look of the faux fur.
  • Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn Duser Bucket Bag – I’ve been looking for a cognac colored bucket bag that was simple, timeless, and within a certain price point. This cognac bag found at Urban Outfitters is pretty much perfect.
  • GLAMGLOW Ultimate Anti-Aging Set – I’m going through one of my beauty and skincare obsessions and GLAMGLOW has become one of my new indulgences. Their face masks are pretty pricey, but so worth it. This holiday gift set combines my love of GLAMGLOW and my fixation on anti-aging. I might have to pick this up for myself and have Santa bring me something else this year.
  • Heeled Oxford – I love the look of a well-tailored and classic looking heeled oxford. I love the slight edge that the touch of camo added to these from Banana Republic.

I had a pretty decent week that included me taking a personal day from work on Tuesday. Other than going with my brother to vet to get his new dog spayed, I spent the majority of that rainy day lounging on the sofa and watching Halloween movies. It was pretty perfect.

This weekend is Halloween and the end of Daylight Savings (FYI- Set your clock back on before you to bed on Saturday night.) All this month, I didn’t really do anything Halloween related except eat more candy than needed. However, I plan to tackle the local haunted corn field maze and haunted house, which I haven’t done in a couple of years. So, I’m excited and a little anxious.

Still, I plan to have a great weekend, as should you. In the meantime, here is this week’s Link-End Round-Up:

Have a great weekend!

Nylon Bomber Jackets

bomber-jackets-stained-couture

I prefer cold weather over hot weather, any day. Therefore, I’m an outerwear girl and every year I tend to get stuck on a style of jacket or coat. This year is no different, because I’ve become obsessed with nylon bomber jackets.

This retro staple from the 90s has been slowly going under the radar. However, I think it has officially gone from nice to necessary.

I’ve found a few styles that range from oversize, boyfriend fit to feminine silhouettes and shades. Keep reading to see some options to get you on board the shiny bomber jacket train.

I’m loving the shade of green from this MA1 Bomber Jacket from TopShop.

Members-Only-pink-bomber

Every few years, the iconic and 80s retro vibe Member’s Only bomber jackets make a comeback. This peach MO jacket adds a feminine touch to this sometimes masculine silhouette.

how to get best photos

Even though I’m not really a ‘print girl’, I’m kinda feeling this muted floral print bomber from Obey. Would be a great piece to own for those chilly spring days.

solid photography backdrops

Want a feminine fit without the girly look of peach and florals? The shrunken fit of the classic flight bomber is perfect, Plus, it’s available in black, navy, and burgundy and available in Plus Sizes.

NASTYGAL-long-bomber-jacket

If you love the look and style of the nylon bomber jacket, but would prefer something a little thicker,  this longer and thicker version of the nylon bomber should keep your chic and warm all winter.

Classic Meals To Cook in A Crock Pot

classic-meals-crock-pot

It’s that time of the year when my days (and energy) begins to get shorter and shorter. I tend to blame it on trying to meet work deadlines before the end of the year and the comforting (read: lazy inducing) cooler weather.

As soon as the weather even attempts to get cooler, I pull out of my crock pot from the cabinet and make a hearty batch of homemade chili. However, chili and soup aren’t the only traditional meals that you can make in a crock pot. Actually, you make pretty much any meal that call for an oven.

Check out these classic meals that you can (surprisingly) cook in crock pot. Most of these recipes will allow you to have them cook throughout the day and be ready by the time you get home from work.

Plus, some of these classic meals to cook in a crock pot will come in handy around the holiday time when you run out rack space in your oven. Keep reading…and prepare to salavate.

slow-cooker-lasgna

I love lasagna and so does my sister. She loves my lasagna so much, she requests that I make it on her birthday every year. This year, I think I’m going to try to make it in a crock pot, like this recipe here. Doesn’t it look delicious? It even has the baked cheese (which I love) topping, which makes it even harder to believe it that it never touched the oven.

whole-chicken-in-a-slow-cooker-the-little-kitchen-13299

Roasted chicken is one of my all time favorite meals to make (and eat). Plus, there’s always so much left, you can make multiple meals for days. This classic roasted chicken recipe from The Little Kitchen is worth trying.

cincy-shopper-meatloaf

Is there another meal more classic and makes you feel at home than meatloaf? I think not. Cincy Shopper not only shared her recipe on making meatloaf in a crock pot, but also threw in potatoes and carrots into the crock pot to roast along side the classic entree’. I’m definitely trying this recipe soon.

slow-cooker-garlic-herb-mashed-potatoes

Mashed potatoes is one of my favorite comfort foods. This recipe for Buttery Garlic Mashed Potatoes calls for everything to be done in the crock; even steaming the potatoes. You can even leave the skin on, which is great because 1.) Less work to do 2.) red mashed potatoes are so amazingly perfect.

slow-cooker-pot-roast

One of the first meals I make when I dust off my crock pot each fall is pot roast, like this pot roast recipe from Joyously Domestic . It’s one of the most “It’s finally fall” meals you can make. Plus, it’s kind of one of my mom’s traditions to make pot roast the first Sunday of fall and I think I’m going to keep that tradition going. Just like with the meatloaf recipes above, you can roast veggies with the beef, which (in my opinion) makes the pot roast taste even better.

slow-cooker-baked-apples

Yes, even dessert can be made in a slow cooker. Although there are plenty of cake and cobbler slow cooker recipes, I was drawn to this baked apples recipe. I bet this smells amazing while cooking. Plus, baked apples are so delicious and 10x delicious in the fall.

This past week was definitely a little off, especially around the office. One of my co-workers somehow lost a day and I feel like I need an extra workday. Weird. However, I was able to get a lot of things squared away in the office. So…I’m taking a personal day today. *Insert cheesy, gloating smile*

I’m going to use this self-imposed 3-day weekend to finish some posts today and work on some of my side projects this weekend since it’s supposed to rain pretty much all weekend. I don’t mind rainy weekends. Actually, I prefer them, because it gives me a reason to stay in the house and catch up on things around the house, while watching shows on my DVR and Netflix. I’m a professional multi-tasker.

Well, here is this week’s Link-End Round-Up:
