The Year In Fashion: Casual Edition

Today we bring you part two of our 2013 fashion wrap up. Last week we shared our favorite red carpet looks, and now that we have finished combing through our Us Weekly and People Magazines, we bring you the celebs who best rocked casual this year!

If there’s anyone that knows how to rock a casual look better than the rest, it’s obviously the Kardashian girls. In this case I’m not talking about Kourtney, Kim or Khloe, but their little sister, Kendall.  Sure, she’s a model and everything looks good on her, but the way she still looks flawless in the most casual of clothes is just enviable, and borderline not fair!

Another gal that really nails the effortlessly chic look is everyone’s favorite girl-next-door, Lauren Conrad. Even when she’s not trying, we all still want to dress just like her!

From Hills star to another, Kristin Cavallari looks perfect on and off the red carpet. This year she announced she was expecting baby number two with her NFL-hubby Jay Cutlet, and proves that maternity and fashion can belong in the same sentence together.

You know who has come a long way? Nicole “Snookie” Polizzi. Since giving birth to her son Lorenzo, she’s not only cleaned up her act, but, for a lack of better words, pulled herself together. I know her outfits my not be on the enviable side, but she wears it well!

Though Mila Kunis has been in the spotlight since she was an early teen, she’s only recently been viewed as fashion inspiration. She’s often seen out and about with her boyfriend, Ashton Kutcher, dressed down, comfortable, and rocking her best accessory: love!

Lastly, Hilary Duff hasn’t been in the spotlight for a few years now, and we often only see her out and about with her adorable son, Luca.  Even though she hasn’t appeared in films or on our radios, she’s still often the talk of the tabloids as she is always photographed looking super-stylish!

The Year in Fashion: Glam Edition

As with every year, 2013 made for some interesting fashion choices by the rich and famous, or maybe in this case infamous.  From Miley’s teddy bear jumper, Lady Gaga’s Ariel moments with her seashell bras, to the glamorous red carpet stunners; we saw an array of fashion that will certainly leave an impression for years to come. In this two part installment of the 2013 fashion wrap-up, we’ll highlight some of our favorite red-carpet looks!

At this year’s Emmy’s, Malin Akerman opted for a Marchesa gown, which could have doubled as a wedding dress, was a drop-waist gown with amazing texture-details at the bottom, a perfect combination of simple and eye-catching.

Kerry Washington also donned a Marchesa gown for the same event.  Hers was a muted pink/cream empire gown beautiful rose appliques. The gown was so intricate and delicate making her one of the night’s biggest stand-outs.

Another hit from this year’s red carpet was Jennifer Lawrence, who not only made a statement in her Dior Haute Couture gown at the Academy Awards, but proved to the world that is one of the most down-to-earth humans in Hollywood.

Another belle of the ball was Hayden Panettiere at the Golden Globes wearing a soft-pink Roberto Cavalli mermaid gown with a textured bottom. The soft, textured gowns of the 2013 made a major statement this year.

Halle Berry, though, can make a statement that’s not a part of a trend, and she did in this show-stopping one-shoulder Versace number that slightly shows off her belly, and of course put her entire right leg on display!

Up next, another soft and textured number for you to feast your eyes on, this time courtesy of Marchesa, worn by Amy Adams at the Golden Globes.  This form fitted, understated gown comes together at the bottom with the tulle layering that makes for a classic look. Adams topped it off with some 1950s inspired curls, which tied everything together.

Lastly, Rihanna was ever the lady in red in Alaia at the Grammy’s.  This look is so demure for the singer and would love to see her dressed like this more often.  It doesn’t stray too far from her style, as it is super-form fitting and a bit see-through.  The red lip really glams it up!

Das WINTER Boots

In my opinion, combat boots are the new Uggs, meaning that they started out as a trend that  comes in super fast and super over manufactured, but just abruptly leaves. However, that was 3 years ago and they are still highly sought and bought each fall and winter. So, this year, I decided to pass the cheap and easily disposable pair and buy a fab pair of combat boots by Sam Edelman.

I love the sturdiness, touches of military-inspired details, and the worn look thanks to the scuffed toes and side heel. Also, combats boots are so comfortable. The new Uggs.

Here in the part of the world that I live, we don’t get much snow. A couple of times in the winter, we might get a dusting of snow that shuts the city down, because Memphians can comprehend how to drive when the streets, sidewalks, and grass are white. What we don’t get in snow, we definitely get in ice, which is horrible and justly shuts the city down. We already had an ice storm this season and it’s barely December. So, I decided that it was more than time that I invest in some winter weather boots in the form is these classic Sorel Tivoli Faux Fur Suede boots, because I have a feeling that this is going to be a rough and cold winter. Oh, and I’ve become super obsessed with winter weather boots.
