Make-Up Monday… Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour Blush

When it comes to blush, some people love it or hate it. For me, I used to hate blush, because I was all about not wanting to look like I had makeup on and blush was just a flashing sign that had makeup on.

However, I eventually learned its not the product itself, but the color and the application of the product. Light shades and strokes, ladies.

Well, this past weekend, I decided that I needed to do a mini-retail therapy to help soften all the stress and mess I’ve been dealing with and although the last thing I needed was more makeup…well.

Anyway, I’ve known for a while that Laura Mercier makes some amazing makeup, especially foundations, concealers, and powders, but I never really delved into her color makeup, until this weekend. On a whim, I decided to test some of her blushes, the second skin ones, to be particular. Obviously, the name says it all, because in the end, that’s all we want makeup to look like, second skin and not layers of colors.

This blush is the epitome of what blush should be; light, natural, velvety smooth, and down-right awesome. I was instantly sold on the Lotus Pink for a natural pink flush, the Lush Nectarine for soft peachy glow, and Soft Clove that makes a great contour powder for my complexion. I’m blushing for these blushes!

Happy Birthday, Stella McCartney

Today is designer and offspring of Rock royalty, Stella McCartney’s birthday. Yay!

However, every time I see and/or her name, all I can think about are her round sunglasses that I’ve been borderline obsessed over. I’ve wanted them so bad for so long, but they just don’t agree with me. I have a round face, therefore, round shape sunglasses don’t flatter me….AT ALL! They just make my face look bigger and rounder. Never a good look! So, all I can do is continue to lust after these sunnies from afar. *deep sigh*

LUST-HAVE LIST: September 2012

New month. New season. New needs. New wants. Yep, that what September is all about to me, PLUS, it’s my birthday month!

I’m so happy that it’s FINALLY getting cooler outside and I can reach for cardigans, denim jackets, and layering scarves! I love Fall fashions! So, here are a list of some things that I lusting for in September and would also make great birthday gifts…hint, hint!

Chiffon Double-Layered Skirt, $42, American Apparel – Cute skirt! Although the skirt is made of chiffon, it makes a great layering and transitional piece. Imagine pairing this skirt with some brown tights and boots, a cream top, and denim jacket? Sounds fab, right?!
MICHAEL Michael Kors Silk Top, $175, Net-A-Porter – Such a lovely way to switch out summer tees into chic tops. A casual shape with a luxe feel and look!
Dooney & Bourke ‘Pocket’ Shopper, $198, Nordstrom – This tote is HUGE! It has all the roominess you need in tote this fall to carry all your essentials, including books and makeup. Let us not forget about the outside. The bag is made of durable nylon and accented with Dooney & Bourke’s grained leather, which I love, and the bright red lining!
Cecelia Wedge Booties, $130, Aldo – What is about wedges that scream “Fall” to me? I don’t know, but a pair of wedge nuetral color wedge booties are just what my shoe closet needs this season. They go with almost every casual fall look your closet can cough up and office ‘fits, too!
Lancome Artliner in Aubergine, $29.50, Sephora – Hands down, Lancome’s Artliner is my FAVORITE liquid liner! It’s goes on smooth and stays on all day, with virtually no smudging…unless my allergies in the mood to create a tear fest. Anyway, I love my Artliner in Noir (black) and I need to go buy another one, because I just ran out. While I’m buying that one, I need to grab it’s burgundy red sister, Aubergine. For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been straying away from eyeshadows and have opted to just wear mascara and occasionally a swipe of liner. This liner would be a nice in between, for the days when I want a little extra something, but not too noticeable. The deep red is fall friendly and would work with most skintones.
Shrunken Blazer, $110, TopShop – Fall is the official kick-off of blazer season and I think it’s safe to say that shrunken blazers aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. This peach blazer from TopShop will add a touch of softness to the darker colors of fall, especially when paired with some dark wash jeans, scarf, and brown boots.

You Got Me Stressed Up!!!

Sorry for the lack of posts, especially over the past few days. I wish I could be all “Oh, I was enjoying my extended Labor Weekend and laid around and did nothing, but watch TV, kick it with friends and family, and ate enough to feed a few people for a good week…blah, blah, blah.” Well, I can actually say that I did those things, but mainly the reason I haven’t posted is because around 11:30 pm, Thursday night, my life became a wreck! No, really a wreck happened while my then-boyfriend, now ex-boyfriend, was driving my car.

Small recap. He hit another car while not paying attention, panicked, ran and abandoned my car, the cops were called, my car got towed because he ran, and I couldn’t go to work the next day. Luckily, he turned himself in the next day and gave me the money to get it out of impound and I was able to go pick my car up that evening. HOWEVER, my front right tire section was destroyed and I couldn’t even drive it. I had to get it towed at 11 o’clock at night found out the next morning(Friday) that basically the whole front tire section would need to be rebuilt and aligned, including the steering aligned. Oh, and they could do it for about $1212….NOT including the bodywork. Oh, did I forget to mention that when I asked my then-BF was he going to help pay for the damages, he flat out said no?! Oh, well, he did and now he’s my ex and someone that I used to know. 🙂

Anyway, to say that I’ve been stressed is a little bit of an understatement and I don’t know where to begin to de-stress…or do I?

Aromatheraphy is quite lovely. Apparently, there’s a scent for every feeling and the scent that is known to calm you down is lavendar, but did you know that vanilla does, too. I didn’t. Usually, when I smell vanilla, I perk up and get excited that possible something sweet to eat is nearby. So, I’m very tempted to try out Bath and Body Work’s Vanilla Verbena collection. It sounds absolutely perfect and I need ASAP, if it works. I think I’m going to swing by after work.
