Stressed on a Cloudy Day

Yep…the title says it all for me. Well, I guess it could also include that I’m at work, actually working, and I noticed that my thighs rubbed a hole (curvy girl problems!)  in a pair of my favorite Levi’s and my phone is about to die and my stomach is growling and possibly hurling profane ridden words at me, too. However, I don’t think all could fit and doesn’t sound that great, to be honest.

So, why not look for a quick little possible pick-me up to make me feel a smidge better like this gorgeous and chic bright citron number from Shoshanna?! It’s so pretty and would look fabulous and dressy with a belt or clean and classic on it’s own. Eh, but who am I to constantly drool at the possibilities. I love the big, but flat ruffles that don’t seem to add much or any weight to the silhouette. Can’t get much better than that with this type of detail on a dress.

Swooning for…Vans Guate Stripe Authentics

I’ve been feening and meaning to get a pair of new ice white Vans for the summer and still will. However, I’m swooning hardcore over their Guate collection, and the authentic pair to be precise. I love the colorful graphic print and the turquoise(my favorite color, BT-dub!) laces add that pop that I love!

The Guate collection features the Authentic (above), slip-on, and high-top with leather face that I saw a picture of, but I can’t find on them on Van’s website, yet. There are more styles coming out in the fall. However, until then, I think I still need these shoes…ASAP!

Sseko Designs

I’ve always been a fan of fashion lines and/or collections that use their profits in a charitable way. Therefore, I’m more than happy to introduce you to Sseko Designs.

Sseko \say-ko\ Designs is a footwear company that was started by a 22 year old journalist to help bright; young women from Uganda continue their education. In an impoverished and male-dominated society, many of these young women struggle to find fair work and cannot continue school. Sseko hires college-bound women to live and work together, while earning money that will go directly towards their university education. The women that Sseko employs will not make sandals forever. They will go on to be doctors, lawyers, politicians, writers, and teachers that will bring change and unification to a country divided by a 22 year-long war.

However, Unlike the Buy One Give One model that has become the trend in social consumerism, Sseko takes a completely different approach to philanthropic fashion. Sseko believes in creating systems that will continue to flourish and positively affect the local economy instead of inundating the market with free goods that actually discourages growth and long-term sustainable impact. Without compromising their unique style, Sseko sandals prove that Africa produces quality and innovative fashion; that Africa can make footwear, not just receive it. And that ethical fashion production can meet community needs.

Music Muses, Captured by Samsung Digital Imaging

Last weekend, I attended the annual Beale Street Music festival here in Memphis, which I haven’t attended in YEARS! By years, I mean roughly 13 years! Yeah…that long.

Well, I decided I wanted to go this year, because the line-up was amazing (Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T, Anthony Hamilton, and Florence and the Machine…to name a few)!

Here’s  a very brief history of and reason why I’ve avoided attending for so long. For the past few years, it rains every year…HEAVILY! Mud…everywhere! Mud people…yeah! However, this year the weather was beautifully warm for the most part and the rain didn’t make an appearance until late night of the last night. Score.

Anyway, aside from amazing music and fun times, I had the opportunity to do a little people and style watching of what exactly do people wear to music festivals and had the pleasure of doing this with Samsung DV300F camera. The latest in the groundbreaking line of DualView cameras, the DV300F Samsung SMART Camera lets you put yourself in a scene, capture it, and instantly share it with friends. Using built-in Wifi and the 1.5” front-side LCD screen, perfectly frame self-portraits anywhere and then upload to social networking sites, right from the camera. Plus, you can easily transfer all of your memories to your computer, smartphone, or Microsoft Skydrive with the touch of a button. That’s the wonder of Samsung.

I would say that the style consensus was CASUAL, but various forms. Everything from maxi dresses to shorts and simple jeans and tees were everywhere. Also, plenty of colors and prints, which I love! Anyway, here are a few of the looks that I personally loved while partaking in a fabulous weekend!

I love how she accessorized a simple outfit of a white tank and jeans with a pair of sky high wedge sandals, gold metal jewelry, and vintage sunnies! Also, I loved her tattoos and red hair!

I loved them! They were fun and fashionable and we talked about comfort and they loved my shiny Michael Kors bag!

Now I want some high top navy canvas shoes!

So casually simple and chic to me! Minimal accessories, except for a small little wristlet to hold her “goodies”. Spot the chinese umbrella for the sun! I wanted it.

In the summer, for any occasion, you can never go wrong with a maxi dress. Especially, if it’s hot and you’re pregnant, according to this festival goer.

Is it bad that I pretty much followed these shoes for at least 5 minutes just to get a picture of them! Color kicks, from top to bottom. Peep the orange and yellow gradient shoelaces? My fav!
