Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin for Viva Glam

Back in July, MAC announced that Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin would star in the next Viva Glam campaign and I just mentioned it today. Anyway, MAC just released the first glimpse of the campaign via this bright and colorful photo featuring the two stars. The campaign was shot by famed photographer David LaChappelle featuring his usual fun and quirky settings.

It looks as if Ricky is holding a giant tube of Nicki’s lipstick. I love the Viva Glam campaigns, because they are always fun and ALL PROCEEDS from the sale of each tube goes to AIDS research. Amazing!

I guess the next thing we have to wait for is to see the actually colors. Nicki’s and Ricky’s Viva Glam products will hit MAC counters and website beginning February 2012.

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Make-Up-holics

Make-up enthusiasts are not necessarily the easiest people to shop for, despite what you think. The reason I say this, is because they already tend to have enough. However, there are ALWAYS some things that every make-up junkie would love to have this season and here are a few.

  • A. Tracy Reese for Clinique gift, Free with purchase, Nordstrom – Okay, so you can only get this if you buy $25 worth of Clinique products. However, Clinique makes amazing products and that would not be a waste, plus this Tracy Reese gift is worth the buy. It features some of Clinique’s best and favorite items, plus it comes with 2 makeup bags designed by Tracy Reese!
  • B. Sephora Collection Brush Wand, $10, Sephora – Just when you thought carrying makeup brushes couldn’t get any more compact, Sephora releases their brush wand. The Brush Wand features four detachable eye brushes that stack into a wand shape. So, the need to touch up your eye makeup anywhere just got a lot easier. Not to mention, I’ve heard that the quality of the brushes are pretty good considering how small they are.
  • C. Viva Glam Melt Your Heart Lip Bag, $36, MAC – Cute bag to have, but it’s what comes in the bag that is amazing. This Viva Glam bag comes with BOTH of Lady Gaga Viva Glam lipsticks. Yes, those lipsticks that seemed to sell out at every MAC counter before you could reach for your wallet and were limited edition, which means once they were gone, there were gone. Well, the geniuses over at MAC decided to release them in a holiday packaging for a limited time only. As the lovely guy working at my MAC counter pointed out while rocking some patent leather kitten heel mary janes, once this is sold out, “Gaga is gone for good!”, because they already have their next Viva Glam ambassadors in Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin. So, if you are still beating yourself upside the head for not getting just one more tube of the Viva Gaga lipsticks, here is your FINAL CHANCE!

Party and New Year Dresses

It’s that time of year again, it seems there’s loads to celebrate and everyone is organising a party of some sort. Whether it’s a work do (and you can’t get out of it), your friend has just got engaged or it’s the budgie’s birthday, you want to ensure you have the perfect outfit that will make you look and feel like a million dollars. And let’s not forget New Year – the most overrated night of the year – when you simply must show up in sky-high heels (that will take until Easter for your poor feet to recover from) and the more flesh on show, the better.

There are plenty of places that specialise in women’s party dresses, both online and on the high street so make sure you do your homework. Check out Ellos womens clothes online as this is quite a new retailer which isn’t very well-known yet. Finding a dress is easy; finding a dress that suits you can be a little more difficult, especially if you want to look like suitably sophisticated and glamorous!

Something bright and cheerful will add a much needed splash of colour to the dull winter days that are coming in and will ensure you stand out from the crowd. Keep accessories simple and don’t overload the look. Also, don’t disregard the classic little black dress. A plain and flattering cut can be updated with accessories such as chunky jewellery, bright scarves and whatever style of belt is currently trending, and an elegant jacket or cute shrug will make for a variety of different looks from the one dress – great if you’ve got loads of Christmas presents to buy and are on a budget.

Length can be a bit of a dilemma; if you go too short you’ll probably be freezing but too long can make you feel a bit frumpy. The most flattering length for all ages is just below the knee. Great if your legs are more Ally McCoist than Elle MacPhearson. Team with long boots for warmth and you’ll be set to hit the dance floor!
