The Perils of Shopping for a Plus Size Coat

I was just browsing around some online stores’ plus size category and noticed that the selection of plus size clothing has gotten bigger and better. If there’s a new trend that my fellow curvy girls want to try, then we can find it!

However, probably one of the worst things to shop for when you are curvy is a coat. Why, you ask? Well, coats not only add warmth, but depending on the style, can also add bulk. I would love to have a puffer style coat, but anything with the “puff” in its title is no bueno.

So, if you have a curvy figure and want to minimize the bulk that a coat can add, might I suggest clean lines with darting or a belt to enhance and/or create a waist. Recommendations? Trench style coats are awesome to every shape; skinny or plus. Plus, the less outside pockets and buttons the better, like the camel coat above.

Printed coats is one trend that I was a little apprehensive about, that is until I broke the  code. A printed coat in a big print and is slimmer through the waist, like the center coat above, is perfect!

Also, double-breasted coats can be your enemy, because they make you look wider. Yes, they typically have clean lines, but unless they have a belt to cinch and define your waist, be prepared to look wider than you should ever want. However, if you can’t give up the sophisticated look of a DB coat, then look for a dark and belted one with minimal detail. This will give you the chic and classic look that a double-breasted coat gives without the extra width, like the black coat above.

I hope this helps all of you fellow curvy and non-curvy girls in your coat shopping adventures!

Lavender Shea Butter? I want some!

I finally ran out of the shea butter I purchased back in the spring and I need to buy some real quick. I love shea butter, because it loves my skin! It absorbs instantly and without a greasy feel. Although I love me some shea butter, the smell can be a little too fishy for me.

I was browsing around Meltiva, an online store that carries certified organic skin care products, and ran into a selection of various shea butter including one that smells like lavender. I love shea butter and lavender, so this is right up my alley.

Just like the rest of Meltiva products, its certified organic and natural. Plus, one of the main reason I love shea butter is because you can use it on your skin and hair, which the BF will appreciate. I put shea butter on my ends at night and he came over one morning and said my hair smelled like fish! You never want to hear your boyfriend says anything on you smells like fish, even your hair! LOL

Anyway, I might need to try this!

Liposuction for Body Enchancement?

Liposuction is the surgical removal of unwanted fat utilizing an instrument called a cannula. This wand-like instrument is made of stainless steel, and acts as a suction device that removes fat cells in the face and body.

There are different liposuction procedures. Ultrasound assisted liposuction or (UAL) sends sound waves to skin areas. This technique changes fat into liquid for easier removal. Tuminescent liposuction injects large doses of anesthetic into the treatment area.

Liposuction is also performed using a motor powered cannulla. This is known as power assisted liposuction or (PAL) and allows the surgeon to use smaller movements this makes the experience more comfortable for the patient.

Benefits of Liposuction

Liposuction is effective for removing cellulite from the face and body. If your considering this type of surgery it’s considered safe and can be used in combination with other cosmetic procedures. The major benefits of liposuction include better health resulting from fat loss and overall appearance improvements.

Doctors report that weight loss is the best way to prevent heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. Liposuction can’t be used to remove large areas of fat. It’s best usage is for ridding the body of those last 10 pounds that diet and exercise didn’t eliminate.

Liposuction Costs

The costs involved with liposuction are determined by the procedure you choose, as well as which areas of the body you intend to target. Total costs are calculated by the number of treatments performed. Most procedures fall in the range of $15,000 to $7,500. Liposuction is not covered by insurance but your surgeon may offer finance plans.

Best Candidates for Liposuction

If your of normal weight with healthy skin but have specific problem areas such as stomach, thighs, buttocks, hips, chin or neck, you should respond well to liposuction. Successful liposuction surgery depends on a few factors. Age, skin condition, weight and health status must be considered. Liposuction should not be the choice for those with diabetes, heart problems, a history of blood clots or compromised immune system. Those whose breasts are out of proportion with the body, experiencing back and neck pain should choose liposuction.
