Sportmax Launches Carte Blanche by Kim Gordon

Italian luxury fashion label Sportmax, is pleased to announce the second chapter of Carte Blanche, a capsule collection in which the artist is at the heart of the decision making process. Carte Blanche is an expression of French origin, which literally means “blank paper”. The Sportmax Carte Blanche program gives the selected artist a blank canvas to create a sketch that will be produced on limited edition ready to wear items.

Chapter 1, presented in 2009, engaged artist Christophe Brunnquell (art director for Purple magazine and Le Figaro) to create a collection of limited-edition pieces. Chapter 2, welcomes Sonic Youth co-founder and visual artist Kim Gordon who has created a collection of numbered tunics, shirts and dresses.

The collection is launching on September 10, Fashion’s Night Out, during an exclusive event in the New York Sportmax Boutique. Kim Gordon will be on hand from 6-10pm while her husband Thurston Moore, also of Sonic Youth, will be deejaying.

The collection will be sold through all the Sportmax Boutiques and in select Max Mara Boutiques worldwide.

Structured Fall 2010: Blazers

My latest installment of structured piece for fall 2010 is something EVERYONE needs in their closet all year round; structured blazers!

They are classic, timeless, and can create a sleek shape like nobody’s business. Although they can look a little “stuffy”, you can avoid all that by pair them with flowy skirt, baggy shorts, or a wide leg trouser that would put the chicest business woman to SHAME!

Anyway, hopefully these structured jackets help give you an idea!

This Bag is Giving Me Life!

I don’t know about you, but when I feel like I need a new “something” (i.e boots, coat, eye cream, etc.), I start spending a majority of my online time looking at those items.

Today, I woke up wanting a new purse for fall. Although I’m in the mood for a nice, big, structured tote that I can just throw things in and dig them out later, Tory Burch’s Dayton Leather satchel just stole my attention for the rest of the evening. So, I felt the need to show you all what will be clouding up my mind for a while until I buy and find a new tote. FYI, I’m think a nice red tote! Any suggestions?

Backpack, please!

(l-r) Will Canvas and Leather Surplus, 258, Urban Outfitters; Fossil ‘Vintage Reissue’ Backpack, $218, Nordstrom; Dooney & Bourke ‘Medium’ Drawstring Backpack, $265, Nordstrom

I don’t know if it’s because of the recent bout of childhood nostalgia I’ve been experiencing seeing all the cute little kids waiting for their school bus in front of my apartments with their little uniforms and school supplies or just because there are a lot of fabulous fall worthy vintage looking backpacks out there, but I want a backpack! One of the vintage and rustic looking backpacks above would do just fine!
