Holiday Gift Guide… Gift Closet

giftguide09_topper

Now you’re done shopping for everyone on your list. Congrats! However, have you cover that embarrassing moment around the holidays when someone gives you a gift, but you have nothing to give them. Not only is it embarrassing, but also it just makes you feel bad that someone thought of you, but you didn’t think of them.

To avoid moments like that, you definitely need to start stocking a gift closet. In case you didn’t know, a gift closet is a place that you stash little gifts for whenever you are in the need to give a gift at the last minute.  Gift closets are perfect for all year round, but they get the most use around the holiday season. I’ve listed some gift closet ideas that are make perfect and inexpensive gifts!

1. Gloves– Gloves are just a lovely and thoughtful gift to receive. What makes them so great is that you can get them in various lengths, styles, and fabric. A pair of leather gloves are just chic and very affordable now a days, even leather!

2. Gift Sets- I stock up on various gifts sets throughout the year. Lotion, makeup, men kits, etc. The great thing about gift sets is that usually contain plenty of items in one handy container. So, more than likely, the giftee will find something in there to tickle their fancy.

3.  Gift Cards- I’m mean, duh! Gift cards are incredible! They are more personable than cash and you don’t have to worry about picking a bad gift for someone. They can buy what they want. Plus, depending on store, gift cards don’t have expiration dates.

4. Picture Frames- Sounds boring, but they are not! You can get some pretty fancy looking frames for fraction of the cost and you can personalize them by including a personal picture of you or them that’s memorable. In the end, it will look like thought of a very personal gift.

5. Slippers- The same reason to stock slippers is the same reason to stock gloves. (Read above) However, unlike gloves, slippers can be gifted and appreciated all year round. Personally, I love slipper socks and boots. Uber-comfy!

Well, those are just a few things that I suggest you start stocking up on to build you a great and inexpensive gift closet!

Nine West Spring/Summer 2010 Preview

FreshStart

Yesterday, here in Memphis, we experienced 60 degree temps, which was a nice break from the 20 and 30 degrees we’ve been experiencing for the past couple of weeks. Although the first day of winter is less than a week away and we haven’t yet to get the true winter weather, I am already feeling the urge to start putting together items I want for spring.

Actually, the first week after Christmas, I start trying to pinpoint the styles and trends I want to embrace in the spring. One place I have already I have pinpoint for shoes is Nine West. I am in just in love with their Fresh Start collection(above) that features feminine and floral embellishments and designs, but mixed with black and pewter styles and fabrics.

Check out the other collections that will begin to hit stores in February!

Eye Spy…Kim K’s edgy boots

EYESPYkimkmotoboots
This weekend, reality star Kim Kardashian was spotted shopping at Barney’s in LA while a pair of Dolce Vita Josey boots that stole a piece of my heart. I’m loving these boots!
Kim has a lot to be happy about these past couple of days. Yesterday, her boyfriend, Reggie Bush and his Saints teammates continued to be undefeated and season 4 of her E! show Keeping Up with The Kardashians premiered. Plus, early this morning, her big sis, Kourtney, gave birth to a healthy baby boy! Bountiful blessings all around this holiday season for Kim and her fam. Also, she has those fabulous Dolce Vita boots!

I need more cardigans!

MARCJACOBSmaxinesweater

I do, I really do! A couple years ago(whenever Gossip Girl premiered), when preppy was the way to look, I had a gaggle of cardigans in various colors and styles. However, I just took a cardigan inventory in my closet this weekend and was shocked to find I only had 3 cardigans (a black, white, and light teal one with antique lace trim and pearl buttons). How the hell did that happen and why isn’t Old Navy offering their cardigans for $5 this week, because their Christmas sales have been rocking my frugalista-esque mind!

Anyway, like usual when I notice I’m low on something, I start to look and conquer more. So, needless to say, I spent most of my online time this weekend looking for more cardigans. One that really caught my eye was this Marc by Marc Jacobs Maxine Sweater. Isn’t adorable with its plaid ruffle around the waist and chic rib action. I will admit that my waist and I laughed at the thought of me adding a plaid ruffle around my already holiday expanding waist, but still…isn’t it adorable!
