This past weekend, I came to the realization that Memphis isn’t getting a Spring this year. Having to deal with 90+ degrees weather in the middle of May is ridiculous. So, to help soothe this depressing understand, I decide to start planning my summer wardrobe.
Keep reading to see what three items are I’m wanting to add to my summer wardrobe this year.
Planning My Summer Wardrobe: Linen Pants
Linen might be one of the most slept on materials. Yeah, it gets wrinkled almost as soon as you slide in a limb. However, it’s a light and breathable fabric that’s ideal for protecting your skin from the horrid heat while keeping you cool. Typically, I prefer Old Navy linen pants, because they’re not too heavy and pretty roomy. Every year, they have them in black, khaki, and grey, but I see they have them in a nice chambray blue, too. So, these will probably the first thing I order the next time Old Navy has one of their usual 40% sales.
Planning My Summer Wardrobe: Swimsuit Coverups
For some reason, I’ve been craving flopping around in the calming coolness of a pool or ocean. I even pulled out my swimsuit this past weekend just in case the opportunity presents itself soon. However, I need to step my swimsuit coverup game up. Who am I kidding, I usually just cover up with a beach towel or throw some shorts on? Although I love the the caftan style coverup, they don’t fit my easy, casual style. I’m leaning more towards this swim coverup romper from Forever 21 Curve, because it can also work as a regular romper. #Options
Planning My Summer Wardrobe: Colorful Sandals
While preparing for Spring, I had every intention of buying fun and colorful shoes. Yet, I’ve been playing it safe by buying nothing but neutral slides flip flops. I’ve been looking for a pair of semi-casual sandals in fun, bright color. I feel like I’ve found them in these suede slides from Zara in the perfect shade of green. The right shade of emerald green can elevate anything, in my opinion.
