I’m a firm believer in taking the necessary precautions to protect my skin from the sun by religiously applying sunscreen to my face and body before I expose it to the sun to protect it from UV rays. However, some people tend to overlook the fact that it’s just as important to protect hair from sun damage just as much as protecting your skin.

The best way to protect your hair from sun damage is to use products that are designed to do just that; protect your hair from sun damage. Therefore, you should look for and use hair products that contain UVB and UVA protection.

When looking for a shampoo to help protect your hair from the intense summer heat, pick a super hydrating that’s also aimed at protecting hair color from fading. Even if you don’t color your hair, these shampoos are usually locked in loaded with ingredients that keeps your hair hydrated and help to prevent any sun damage. I good recommendation would be Clear Color & Heat Conqueror Shampoo and Conditioner. They will help keep your hair moisturized and help protect it from any heat damage.

Aveda makes this awesome spray that I recommend everyone has within reach in the summer. It’s their Sun Care Protective Veil that is a lightweight spray that you apply to your hair to protect your hair from UV rays for up to 16 hours. It helps minimizes any sun damage and dryness. It has a gentle, refreshing scent, organic, and water-resistant. So, if you go for a swim, it won’t rinse away.

Paul Mitchell’s After-Sun Replenishing Masque is great to use before and/or after sun exposure. Super hydrating, color-protecting, and UV protection. What else could you want for your hair on a long day out in the sun.
