REVIEW: BH Cosmetics Concealer and Corrector Palette

BH Cosmetics concealer and corrector

For the past couple of months, I’ve been interested and borderline fascinated with color-correcting videos on Instagram. I haven’t checked out any videos on Youtube just yet. That’s why I can say “borderline fascinated”. Either way, I’m hooked on color correcting. I’ve dabbled here and there, because I’ve been going through a minimal make-up look for awhile now. However, since my addiction to make-up has flared up again, I’m in the mood to take on the challenge of introducing my skin and our hyperpigmented areas to color correcting. I decided to start with BH Cosmetics Concealer & Corrector palette in Medium.

After a couple of weeks, I decided to go ahead and give my very just opinion.

In case you aren’t too familiar, color correcting concealers are used to help your skin’s shade of concealer, depending on the skin issue. For example, if you are dealing with redness, you should apply a green concealer to help combat the redness before applying your concealer. If you have an unwanted yellow undertone to your skin, seek a purple concealer. However, if you are looking to cover some purple and blueness to your skin from veins or some bruising, use a yellow concealer. Pink concealers are great for brightening tired looking areas such as around your eyes. If you are in my boat, a medium to tan complexion with some hyperpigmentation and/or dark under eye areas, use a orange concealer.

You use color correcting concealers BEFORE applying your regular concealer and/or foundation. Depending on the coverage of the foundation, you might be able to skip the concealer all together. Save that concealer, girl!

As you can tell, I’ve really absorbed a lot of “scientific” formulas involving the use of color correcting concealers. However, I wanted to test my knowledge with color correcting concealers in the process and that led me to BH Cosmetics’ Concealer & Corrector palette. One of the great things about the BH palettes is that they have an option for almost every skin tone. Yes, even you beautifully deep melanin beauties have an option. Plus, at less than $10 for each palette, it was the best bet to start off with an affordable option to get more familiar with the application process.

BH Cosmetics concealer and corrector

Each palette comes with  3 concealers and 3 complementing correctors. Based on my skin tone and needs, I got the palette in medium. The concealers in the medium palette all were complimentary to my complexion. I can use all three of them for different needs or if my skin is tan or not. I also can use the light shade as an under eye concealer. The concealers were all the perfect consistency of creamy, but not too creamy that I couldn’t blend and set with a powder.

Like the concealers, the correctors were creamy and easy to blend, as well. The pigmentation was not as pigmented as I thought or hoped it would be, but it wasn’t a problem. Since I’ve been working my hyperpigmentation, the need for a super opaque correcting concealer wasn’t needed. I’ve only used the orange color on the dark areas under my eyes and the slight hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. After I applied the corrector, I applied a small dab of concealer and blended it out. It was almost magical to see how flawless my skin looked and my under eye circles are forgotten.

If you are looking into experimenting with color correcting make-up, but don’t want to spend too much, you should grab this palette. The payoff is great and the pigmentation is very descent for the price. I would and probably will reorder this palette again.
