I recently recollected on all the make-up and beauty products I’ve bought and used over my beauty blogging career (10+ years) and realized that I’ve probably used hundreds of different products, but feel like I can only recall a few. Sad, I know. However, what stirred up this pondering of my past was the recent resurgence in the beauty world of Coty’s Airspun Powder a.k. the face powder we’ve all seen in the drugstores, but never bought.

Coty’s Airspun Loose Face Powder has been around for decades. I can remember seeing it in my childhood (80s, baby!) when I went to drugstores with my parents. The golden floral print stood out among a wall of black compacts. Although the design is the still the same, the powder now comes in a plastic jar instead of the metal container I remember as a child and back when I first tried it.

I first tried this powder well over 10 years ago, when I was a make-up loving college student and before I was a beauty blogger. Way before baking and Beauty Blenders were synonymous with face powders, we used regular powder brushes to set our make-up with loose face powder. So, it made me wonder how effective would this powder be to set my make-up now that I use sponges instead of brushes. Hmm?

When I first used this back in day, I used it as traditional loose powder to set my foundation. Therefore, it was nothing too spectacular to remember. However, since I’ve been “revisiting” it for a couple of weeks now, I realize that this might be one of the most slept on setting powders out there. I love using it to set my undeye concealer, which is does an amazing job all day. I use my damp beauty blender to set it and it stays for the remainder of the day. So impressed!

Since it’s so lightweight, dusting it over your face will not only set your make-up, but not give you the look of caked on make-up. Who wants that?

 

Another thing that seems to have stayed the same is the smell. The scent is reminiscent of a gentle baby powder, but not as overbearing. I actually remember my mom’s friend using the accompanying fluffy puff to dust her decollete with this as an extra layer of scent. I might bring that back as well!

The best part of about this powder is that it’s easily accessible, because it’s available at most drugstores and big box stores and the price of less than $6 at most places makes it beyond affordable. Also, it’s available in multiple shades, but you can’t go wrong with the translucent version.
