Although it might be hard to tell my the weather on some days; spring is here. If you’re like me, you’ve already started or finished your spring cleaning. However, when you hear “spring cleaning”, most people think of just their home, but that’s just the beginning. This is also the perfect time to spring clean digital life.

Spring Clean Digital Life: Back up data

If most of your work is done on a computer or device, it’s always best to regularly backup your data. Back up your data by transferring it to a hard drive or on a cloud, because you never know when your computer might die or accidentally delete data. I’ve been on both sides of that coin, but didn’t stress since I backed up my data.

I have admit that I’m not the best at updating software. Although I appreciate the notifications, I can go weeks before I finally update the software. However, I’m getting better at it by updating my software as soon as I notice a new update is available AND after I backup my data.

It’s important to clear your browser cache regular; even daily. The main reason is because our browsers hold onto information, which can cause problems logging in or pulling up websites over time. By clearing your cache and cookies regularly, it can protect your personal information and helps apps and programs run smoother and faster.

UGH! One of my least favorite things in the world is having to create passwords. Having to create a unique, 8 character password has given me many moments of impromptu stress. However, regularly changing and updating your passwords can help prevent your accounts from getting hacked. Since I have so many different accounts that require passwords with different requirements, I use a password manager to help store and even create passwords. There are plenty of password managers out there and some pretty good ones that are free.
