Summer Skincare Routine 2017

Although summer just began, I’ve already developed and have been using my summer skincare routine. This heat and humidity has already showed up and out.

The older I’ve gotten, the more my skin changes. In my teens and early 20’s, my skin was just oily. In my 20s, my skin was more combination/oily. Now, it depends on the season. In the fall, it’s normal/oily, during the winter, it’s dry/normal, and it’s normal to oily in spring. However, in the summer, my skin is just plan ol’ oily; no slash. So, I have to use products designed for oily skin. This is how I justify having over 5 different types of facial cleansers in my beauty cabinet. However, that’s another post for another day. Keep reading to see the products that are making up my morning summer skincare routine.

The cleanser that I’m using is the Ole Henriksen Aloe Vera Deep Cleanser. This cleanser is designed for oily and acne prone skin, which can be an issue for me. I must say that I since I’ve been using this cleanser, my skin has been so much better. I think my skin likes it!

Another thing that I know my skin has been liking are konjac sponges. I recently added Dew Puffs konjac sponges to my skincare regimen to wash my face. The sponges are available in original for normal skin, bamboo for acne prone skin, and Asian clay for aging skin. In the morning, I use either the original or the Asian clay one. You can use them alone or add your cleanser to them. Luckily, you don’t need to use that much cleanser with these sponges. Plus, they help smooth and polish your face with each use. My skin has been a lot smoother and glowy since I’ve added them to my daily routine. Konjac sponges are a game-changer, people.

Once I’m done cleansing, I break out one of my trusted Mario Badescu toners. Actually, in the morning, I just spray my face with a few sprays of the rose water facial spray. This gently tones my skin while preparing it for the next step. Currently, I’m using up the last bit of my Mario Badescu Special Cleansing Lotion”C”, which is formulated for oily skin. I’m not sure if I want to buy a new bottle or try a new toner. However, this toner is great for oily skin. So, I’ll probably just pick up another bottle. If it’s not broke, then don’t fix it.

Once my skin is dry after the toner, I follow up with my serum. I’m still using my trusted serum from The Ordinary. I use this stuff in the morning and at night before my retinol. Once the serum has rested in my skin for 30 seconds, I apply my SPF 55 from Neutrogena followed by my moisturizer. I recently ran out of my Roc Daily moisturizer and started using the L’Oreal Revitalift daily moisturizer. I’ve only been using it for a couple days. So, I can’t give you a full review on it, yet. However, I should have a full review up in a couple of weeks.

There you have it, my current skincare routine for summer 2017. I didn’t really delve into my nighttime routine, but I will in the near future.
