Styling Products That Saved My Hair This Summer

After spending most of last week battling an acute case of bronchitis, I decided to take a week off from the blog and rest. Although I still have a pesky cough that I will probably have for a couple of weeks, there’s still plenty of summer left. This summer, when it came to my hair, I went very laid back by wearing my hair mostly naturally curly. I didn’t apply much if any heat to  my hair these past couple of months. Therefore, I used this summer to experience with different products, mostly styling products for my curly hair.

From refresher sprays to curling cremes, I tried a lot of styling products for my curly hair. However, there were only a few that I used continuously this summer. Keep reading to see which products had me loving my natural curls this summer.

Carol’s Daughter’s Hair Milk is was one of the first products that I bought when I was learning how to deal with my natural hair many years ago. Since then, CD developed a whole line around Hair Milk, which includes a Hair Milk refresher spray. My hair is not only curly, but thick and needs moisture everyday. I use this Hair Milk refresher every morning to help revive my lifeless ringlets to soft and bouncy curls. It’s very light and instantly hydrates and conditions my day old curls. It takes a couple of sprays to get my hair back to the previous day.

The next product that I’ve been silently obsessed with is this Surf Spray by Cleaned Enhanced Organics. Like most surf sprays, this spray is designed to add texture to hair to give it a beachy, windswept vibe. However, I sprayed a few pumps to make my curly hair look a little more tousled and voluminous, which it did. Big, carefree curls where my final result and it didn’t dry out my hair. Unlike surf sprays I’ve used in the past, this one not only controls  my curls, but hydrates them. Is that supposed to happen? It’s almost magical!

Curling cremes are my ish! I feel like I could save the world with the right curling creme. Although I tried many, there were 2 that I don’t feel like I could ever live without again. When I want all of my curls defined, but not too heavy, I used Design Essentials Natural Defining Creme gel. Light, bouncy, and defined curls are always the final result when using this creme, especially when combined with the daily moisturizer. Finally, I use Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie, which is very thick. I only use it on my ends that need a little help defining curls. It’s also great for twist outs on freshly washed and air-dried hair. Finally, I tame and slick my edges down with the Design Essentials Edge Tamer, that I reviewed a while ago. It’s still crack for my edges.
