SAVE OR SPLURGE: Mod Booties

SOS_mod-booties

I love when I find a good dupe to a pricey or discontinued product. It feels like I was challenged to keep a piece of joy in my life and I won. FYI – I’m a firm believer in small victories.

Well, I feel this same bout of enthusiasm when I find a similar fashion buy, too. Case in point, these 3.1 Philip Lim Emerson Short Chelsea Booties have been on my heart and mind for a while. Unfortunately, that $650 price tag for these chic mod booties was just too much for me and wallet to part with so close too holiday shopping season. You know? Real tears.

However, imagine my delight while scrolling around ShopBop.com and see a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Larice booties that were very similar to the Lim booties. The JCs had the same stacked wooded heel look and elastic sides, which is what I love the most about the 3.1 Philip Lim booties. Not to mention, the JCs are very attainable with a price tag of less than $200.

Mod booties and the whole sleek retro vibe is coming back hard this season. Plus, can you really have too many booties in the fall and winter? I think not.

Affordable dupes make my wallet smile, especially when it comes to super cute mod booties.

House of Harlow 1960 Minnie

Since I’m borderline obsessed with all things Nicole Ritchie, when I found out that Piperlime (another bullet item on personal obsession list) had tapped the fashionista to curate a list of her favorite pieces for fall, I couldn’t click over to their site fast enough.

While browsing the list and pretty much telling myself I needed every item, there was one item that I was instantly obsessed with…that wasn’t on the list. In one of the promo shots, Nicole is seen wearing a pair of black and white strapped ankle boots that are amazing. It didn’t take much digging or thinking to realize that they are the Minnie bootie from her House of Harlow 1960 fashion line.

Seriously, these shoes can go with almost everything in my current wardrobe of black, white, greys, and occasional punches of color. I need these.

New Year = New Shoes!

Okay, this might be so hard to believe considering I run a couple of fashion blogs, but in the past year, I haven’t done much shopping.

Don’t get it twisted, I have copped a couple of things here and there, but not as much as I have in past years. The main reason is because earlier this year, I moved into a new apartment of my own with no roommate. So, I found myself hitting the home decor aisles and sections way more than the clothing and accessories rack.

However, now that my place is pretty much set, in the upcoming year I plan to devote more time and attention to re-stocking my closet. Fortunately, Santa gifted me with plenty of gift cards this season! Just what I wanted!

One of the first gift cards I plan to drain is one valued at $50 that my brother’s girlfriend(Smooches, Tess!) dropped in my stocking. The first thing I grabbed with it are these Lace Allure booties. Obviously, these are a soft knock-off of Louboutins, but I so can’t wait for these to arrive next week!
