NARS Spring 2010 Collection

NARS has just released its Spring 2010 collection that features soft and sexy shades inspired by Catherine Deneuve’s role as Lucille in La Chamade. The shades are elegant and versatile, just like Deneuve’s character.

“I love Catherine’s makeup look in this movie,” says François. “It’s very sophisticated and bourgeois in a Parisian ‘16th Arrondissement’ way. She is the perfect reference for this collection, and apropos for spring, a time to embrace color and get noticed.”

Counter Talk…The death of natural beauty?

Personally, I don’t have a problem with people getting plastic surgery. I don’t know if I ever see myself getting plastic surgery, but still no problem. However, when it comes to plastic surgery, I guess you can say I’m pro choice.  I believe the reason I feel this way is, because the stigma and taboo of getting plastic surgery has weakened over the years.

However, there is one thing about the invention and takeover of plastic surgery in pop culture that has irked me beyond belief and has asked me to ponder the following  question for a while now. Has plastic surgery killed the ideal of natural “beauty”?

Before there was plastic surgery, there were women who were actually born with large breasts, smooth skin, full lips, and large butts. I know it sounds shocking, right?! However, that seems almost impossible, because when we see an ample lip, bust, or derriere, we tend to make assumptions about enhancements, before being “born with them.”

For example, as soon as someone new hits the media airwaves that has an ample bust or full derriere, the scrunity and questions of  “Are they real?” or “Did they look like that before?” start become supporting characters in conversations about them. Also, if someone looks a little different, people start pulling out old pictures and start doing photo comparisons.

Somehow, the invention of plastic surgery has swiped out the possibility of natural endowments and even tricks of the trades such as push-up bras and make-up tricks. Seriously.

One of the new things that, to my shock, is the idea that someone with a large and ample rump must have had fat injected or wearing butt pads. About 11 years ago, when Jennifer Lopez was just getting her foot into the door of mainstream, I read an article about how women were starting to inquire about butt implants. Personally, my little 17 year old mind at the time thought that it was a fad that would die out very soon. Chile, was I wrong. Butt implants are the new “it” thing to have. They are up there with botox!

Anyway, am I the only one that feels this way or have these thoughts. I will definitely admit that I think enhancements first and then I look for signs of natural. What about you?

Davines is devine!

davines_main1

I don’t know about your hair regimen, but mine begins on Sunday night with a nice shampoo and deep conditioner.  Well, now that weather is finally getting cold, its time to boost the moisture in my hair regimen. In case you didn’t know, your hair becomes drier and more brittle in cold weather. The coolness in the hair literally sucks the moisture out of your hair, which makes your hair dry and brittle and breaks. Never a good look.

So, this weekend I was able to try Davines NouNou Nourishing repair mask for dry and brittle hair and it is so a-mazing. I slathered the olive oil infused mask over  my fresh towel dried hair and left on for 10 minutes and rinsed it out find some lovely, soft, and moisturized locks that I was so stoked to say that they belonged to me! Seriously, my hair felt so lush and luxe!

So, after an additional 10 minutes ogling my hair as it air dried some more, I massaged Davines MOMO cream on my ends and hair. I let that settle in then proceeded to give myself my weekly press and curl!I swear, every curl that unraveled from my ceramic curling iron was breath-taking, bouncy, shiny, and soft to touch! Not only that, but kept my hair frizz free the entire night.  I was tossing my hair all night for no absolute reason!

Anyway, I’m not super shocked that Davines took to my hair so well, because they had a previous encounter/relationship.This summer, Davines Refreshing Shampoo did wonders washing out all the products I used to keep my naturally curly dos work.

What I can say, Davines does wonders for my hair and I’m sure it will do the same for yours.

Nail Buds

nailbuds_main

I’m a sucker for a cute product in a cute package and that sucker syndrome got me to buy these Nail Buds this morning at the drugstore across the street from my job.

Nail Buds are a handy pack of “go-to” mini nail files that look a like pack of matches. Yes, the cute factor. Mine were only 99 cents, but I they are really great quality to nail files. Since they do come in the same size package as a envelope of matches, they are not that big, but are perfect for filing away snags and quick shape-ups.

There are 24 in a pack and are a great addition to the bottom of your purse for when you need them! Look around online or a local drugstore for Nail Buds.
