Key Pieces to Transition from Summer to Fall

I know that in most parts of the country, it doesn’t feel like fall (wipes away sweaty mustache) and it’s not technically fall until September 22, but that doesn’t mean that you have to wait until then to start gathering pieces to form your fab wardrobe of fall 2013.

The transitioning phase is the hardest in every situation. However, there are some small steps of accessories and inexpensive pieces that you can start with to help make your current warm weather accommodating summer clothes to be fall friendly.

  • Tights/leggings – That short, fun, and colorful dress you loved to throw on  in the summer or those cut off denim short shorts that were you uniform for the hottest of summer days and nights can be fall friendly with a pair of opaque tights or leggings and some funky dark wedges. Stock up in every color of tights and leggings that you can, but I recommend that you start with the basic colors of black, brown, navy and red for a pop of color.
    • Cardigans – I don’t know about you, but cardigans just scream “Fall” to me, especially boyfriend style. The style of the boyfriend cardi styled with your cutoff denim shorts, a white tee, tights, and some combat boots sounds casually fab.
  • Scarves – Scarves are possibly the easiest thing you can throw on and make it feel like there’s a chill in the air. They can range from long and drapey, short and knitted, or even a simple and classic silk scarf. Either way, you can’t go wrong by welcoming fall and the cool weather that rides shotgun.

There you have it and go get it!

TRESS ENVY: Jennifer Lopez in Cosmo Magazine October 2013

TE_JLO_cosmo_oct2013

Ever since I saw Jennifer Lopez images from the latest edition of Cosmo last week, I’ve been super obsessed with her shoulder length, long layer bob and long side swept bangs and dimensional golden highlights. I guess one of the reasons I’m thinking and looking at this picture everyday is because I recently cut a long layered bob and don’t know what to do with, but now, I think I have an idea…;)!

LUST-HAVE LIST: September 2013

LHL_sept2013

Although I only missed August Lust-Have List, it feels like I haven’t done one in years. Anywho, it’s September; my birthday month (September 26) and I’m back at a level of contentment and plan to keep this feeling going for a while.

This month is all about the transitioning of replacing fun and bold colors of summer to demure and sultry colors of fall. Well, pump your breaks, because I’m feeling very retro and neutral and it shows in my list. Enjoy.

  1. Throwback Denim Jacket, $29.80, Forever 21 – I feel like this needs to be in my possession..like….last week.
  2. Amanda Classic Hobo, $485, Tory Burch – A girl in my office has this bag and I always try to get a glance at it when I pass by and she has it sitting on the chair next to her desk. It’s the perfect classic shoulder bag and perfect for work days and weekend errands.
  3. Chan Luu Gold-plated lapis drop earrings, $90, Net-A-Porter.com – Ahh…they’re blue and chic. Say no more.
  4. Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil, $48, Sephora – My hair need this. All the dying, blow-drying, flat-ironing and just pure being in the sun has added a touch of  “crispiness” to my already dry and curly hair. I’ve nothing but amazing things about this oil and I can’t wait to try it.
  5. Tildon Pointy Toe Pump, $69.95, Nordstrom – I just want to style these with some rolled cuff boyfriend denim, a white tee, and hot pink blazer.

TIMBER!!!

TREND_timberlands

Timberlands. Timbs, as they are affectionately called, have always been a staple in men’s closets. However, I’m starting to notice them slowly popping up in women’s closet, especially the clutch and classic 6-inch wheat nubuck color boot that has been seen on the likes of Kortney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian Odom, Rihanna, and even the infamous Blue Ivy Carter.

The Caters Timbs

I’ve been itching to get myself a pair to rock with some baggy jeans and simple fitted white tee for a chic little tomboy flair. I was all set on just going ahead and copping the nubuck until I saw that you can customize you a pair. Say, what?! Yes, you can customize your own pair of Waterville boot, including colors and even monogramming your initials on the tongue and heel.

I designed a nice and sleek navy blue upper with white and black details that I plan to order when this hot and humid summer ends and my feet will be more open to other shoe options other than flip flops and more flip flops. However, I need to cop a classic nubuck pair first….as should you!
